We spent the weekend at the Marriott Residence Inn on Walton. It was a wonderful location, at the north end of the Magnificent Mile, adjacent to the Drake Hotel, the Hancock Tower (don't miss the lounge there on the 96th floor), and E. Lakeshore Drive, where you can walk to the beach and stroll along the lake. Only complaint was that the elevators were a wee bit small and we had to wait a while sometimes to get downstairs in the morning. Rooms are modern and nice, though a bit lacking in storage, for a weekend, it was just fine.

Very friendly, helpful, caring staff. No negative comment. We enjoyed not only the great location but everything else like the breakfast and free BBQ dinner and beverage on Wednesdays. We would recommend this place to friends and family and will return to the hotel again.

I've stayed before at the Westin, which is a block away and $$$$ more and will definitely come back here instead. So many more perks. To save money, there's a huge complimentary breakfast, and on Mon & Wed they have "happy hour" which serves cheap beer and wine and appetizers as big as a meal. Every room has a contemporary kitchenette so what you can't eat you can save & prepare again in your room. Other reviews may say this is a cheap hotel but I say otherwise. Chicago is already expensive so why not save your $$ by staying here and spend it on shopping! (American Girl is a block away...) My only complaint was the room was on the warm side and toiletries were limited.

Stayed here during the renovation of the rooms which will be fantastic but not until later in the year. In the meantime, construction noises during the day prohibit sleeping in and rerouting of the water pipes cause a 15 minute delay in hot water. The response from the staff with the water complaint was, "sorry, try turning the water on when you first get up". The rates are the same as the Hilton Suites and only 16 less than the Drake Hotel. The advantage here is the breakfast, social hour and the free internet, which is why I'll stay the week but it should be at a more reduced, discounted rate. The location is perfect, though at the north end of the MI mile. Good luck.

The price & location cannot be better for Water Tower and Rush Street. Easy in and out. Zoo is a long walk but doable. Likewise for Millenium Park. Room was small but very functional and good decor.

Kitchenette was well equipped for special needs offood preparation. Wasn't aware that parking would be so large an expense. The accommodations and staff were wonderful. I was surprised however, at the cost to park in a safe and convenient place. Felt as though this was a hidden charge or hook to offset the fact that the nightly rates were so reasonable.

The room was clean and comfortable and nicely furnished. I really enjoyed the nice, large shower. The hotel's location is perfect -- just a few blocks off of Michigan Avenue, so it is within walking distance of most of the places we intended to visit. Otherwise, cabs were readily available outside at all hours of the day and night. Walton is a quiet street, so there was less traffic noise at night than at some of the other hotels in the city. The staff was very friendly and helpful -- even at midnight when we checked in. I generally do not expect much from a complimentary hotel breakfast, but I was pleasantly surprised. Good selection, everything was the right temperature, and the lady who was tending the buffet was all smiles. What a pleasant start to the day! We will definitely add this to our short list of Chicago hotels to visit again.

This hotel was far above my expectations. I booked as a package, air/hotel, and was unsure as what to expect. We arrived late and were "welcomed home" by the doorman. The registration staff accommodated our request for a certain size room withouth hesitation. The rooms were clean, large and quite comfy. Best sleep I had had in weeks. The hot/cold breakfast bar was kept neat, clean and filled with nummy breakfast goodies....healthy ones as well. The breakfast was topped off with a welcoming song by the breakfast staff. She is a woman on the road to success. The hotel offered a baggage checking area for us to leave our luggage while visiting the City. I will definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to all who visit Chicago.

When I booked on line it was a package for 3 of us flight, room and car. The first night on the 19th floor was a group of very loud drunken young men. We didnt sleep a wink after 2 calls to the front desk! The next morning we went to complain and the staff up graded us to the 3rd floor . Our room was spacious and clean and we slept very well for the next 6 nights. The breakfasts were fine and a few surpizes with great evening snacks in the main foyer. The parking was very pricey all in all we liked our stay and would return. However if we find a place with parking included we would go there.

The hotel is one block off the Miracle Mile, a very short walk to shopping, site-seeing, theater, and good food. The furniture and fixtures were all brand new with granite counter tops and an artsy look to the decor. Very clean. Everyone, from the front desk to the maid service were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is huge. There is something for everyone. Highly recommend this place.

When I checked into this hotel, I told the concierge that I was a light sleeper, and requested a room away from lift machinery and fire doors that may bang shut. My room seemed acceptable, with a view out from the side of the hotel. However, EVEN WITH EARPLUGS IN, I was woken the first morning by a refuse cart in the street at the back of the hotel BEFORE 6am (Jeez!...can't really blame the hotel for that, just the ludicrously early time they start to collect refuse in Chicago, and the noisy way they go about it), however, the next night some drunken idiots arrived back in the neighbouring room at around 4am, laughing and shouting LOUDLY, again waking me up. This went on for around 20 minutes, at which point I phoned reception and asked them to do something.They did NOTHING, but eventually (after a bit of banging on the wall from myself), it went quiet next door...the neighbours must have passed out. I managed to get back to sleep at around 5:20am, and woke at my normal time of 6:45. The disturbance of my sleep didn't help me on the 3-day course I was attending at the Siebel Institute. When checking out, I complained loudly about the lack of action concerning my noisy neighbours, and was presented with...a package containing a "Sorry" card, a bottle of water, and a packet of cookies! BIG DEAL! I should have told them to STUFF IT WHERE THE SUN DON"T SHINE. My advice to anyone that may need some guaranteed uninterrupted sleep whilst staying in Chicago because they are on a course or a business meeting: pay a little more and go up-market instead of staying at this noisy hotel, as there's less likelihood of drunken scum being able to afford the ante...PLUS, a decent hotel will do something if a guest is being noisy and disturbing other guests. (I rate it 2 out of 10....marginally above a sleeze-hole in India which gets a 1)

We liked the 2 rooms and full kitchen. Nothing disappointed us. This was a perfect location for our business needs and our free time. The 2 rooms made it a wonderful visit. We have stayed in rooms that were so cramped. This was perfect for us in every way.

My girlfriend and I went to Chicago for New Year's this past year. I chose this hotel due to it's proximity to Michigan Ave and the relative cost. The free breakfast every morning was a nice cost saver too. We reserved a "studio" room, but it was huge! Recently renovated, included a fridge/freezer, microwave, stove, dishwasher, flat-screen TV, etc. It was a great deal for the money. Next time I go to Chicago, I'm staying here again! However, if you're looking for a view of Michigan Ave or the lake, you might want to pick a different hotel. But if you're trying to cut costs on your trip and don't mind walking/taking public transportation...this is your place.

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and the breakfast was a wonderful bonus! This hotel exceeded my expectations - the staff was amazing and friendly and went out of there way to make sure you had a wonderful trip.
