It is a beautiful old building with a pleasant atmosphere. The overall service was good, but the hotel was located in the crummy part of town with lots of homeless people. It is an affordable place to stay and conveniently located close to the Union Square.

The first night of our stay (Friday) was very quiet. However, Saturday we heard the deep vibrations of drums until after midnight. Earplugs didn't help. We were on the second floor, and apparently there's a little nightclub on the ground level that opened up that night. Other than that, the stay was OK.

The location is good. It's so noisy at night. Noisy at night. Hard to sleep.

So cold room. Heating system is failed frequently. I stayed with cold air in long night. And most hotels in SF offered free wireless internet. But Renoir hotel did not provide free wireless internet and its signal is so poor.

Helpful staff but location on Market St means that the tramp population of SF is on your doorstep. Otherwise it is great because trams pass by the door and cable cars are not far away. Rooms average.

We got a really good rate at the Renoir, staff was friendly and helpful, room was basic but clean and overall this was a very good value. Nice little restaurant attached to the hotel with good variety of breakfast options. Important to know: Valet Parking costs $30.00. Also, they charge $9.99 per day for WIFI in the rooms. We will stay her again.

An interesting property, right in the cetner of a somewhat intimidating Civic Center district. The hotel is old but seems well kept, although there was no restaurant available while we stayed there. It's supposed to reopen this summer. But we found some excellent places to eat within walking distance, towards the Vietnames neighborhood on larkin Street, and also along Market Street. The staff was young, dynamic and helpful. The room was clean and for the price we caould complain about anything. The best about this hotel was that it had immediate access to the train (airport link) and the trolley (to Fishermen's WHarf). Good shopping nearby at the Nordstrom/Bloomingdales center.

The staff was wonderful, very informative and helpful. The hotel is very old. I guess you could say it was authentic. It may be meant to be that way, I don't really know. I prefer more up to date modern hotels. The fixtures in the bathroom, the decor in the room was very old.The room also too small, not what I'm use to. Not even screens in the windows, no air conditioning, those old fashioned metal heaters that clanked all night long. Myself and both of my children did not sleep well because of the clanky heater. The hotel was very clean. Like I said, it is probably meant to be that way. It's just not my preference. Maybe others appreciate the authenticy and that is understandable. I guess I'm just different

Good for the price, with good service. You get what you pay for. If you want higher quality, stay in Union Square at a much more expensive hotel. Very accessible to public transport.

The website offered a pretty decent description of this hotel, turned out to not be true. I'm not very picky about where I stay as long as it's clean. This hotel is very old and hasn't been updated in what seemed since the day it was constructed. Carpets wreaked with bad smell. Bathroom door had trouble closing, paint coming off the bathtub. Mattresses were old and sank in when u laid down, plus there was someone else's hair on my comforter and sheets (gross!). Spend your money elsewhere!

Comfortable clean rooms for a good price. Front desk and security staff was friendly and helpful. Located right in front of the train an subway station, therefore very easy to access from the airport. Restaurant not open when we stayed there.

The rooms were clean and the price was the same as other hotels in the area. Not a good hotel is you don't like to see homeless people.

Good value for money; close to many attractions. Rough neighborhood; $30.00 charged/night charged for parking; very noisy at night. Its OK, if they didn't charge that $30/night parking. 2 star is appropriate for the hotel.

The package i paid for was for a room with a Queen or King or 2 Double Beds. Instead we got a room, or actually a box, that had 2 twin beds. I called to complain but they said they were sold out that weekend and couldn't change the room. The area around the hotel was riddled with homeless people and very creepy at night time. There was no heat in our room, so they sent up a space heater that looked like it was from 1978. Then at one point our fuse blew in our room when we were getting ready to go out and all the lights and outlets were out for about 10 minutes. I found a bug in my bed on 2 different days. Thank god we didn't pay full price which apparently was $* per night because that would've added insult to injury. Overall not a very good experience at all. Next time we won't be staying in the Civic Center area of San Francisco and will venture to a more pleasing area.

My friend and I checked into the hotel on the evening of 27 Nov. XXX and XXX were the staff on duty. XXX very efficiently checked us in, giving us brochures and maps to get around the city. As we did not find a kettle to make a hot drink in the room, we checked with the front desk. Was told that this facility is not provided, but XXX went out of his way to get my friend a cup of hot water. Despite being told that the neighbourhood is full of homeless people, we had a great time exploring the city, walking around without ever being disturbed. Chinese food being in abundance just across the street - that made us very happy. The Renoir has been value for our money, thank you.

I needed a room for only one night. I, female traveler was by myself and I would not want to stay this place alone in future. Maybe not even with someone else. It is simply because it was not in a plesant location. It was walking distance to the center but I could not walk by myself in the evening. I would pay a little more money to stay somewhere else. Hotel overall was OK but view from the room was not plesant.

Nothing even the showers don't work properly. Nothinghorrible worst hotelI have ever been to. Hope less hotel its the second Alcatraz of Sanfrancisco area the hotel carpet is dirty, showers just have hot water no provisions for cold water, there were street fights and gun shots downstairs, I had to pay 70 $ just for 2 days parking of my car as was later told by people that car windows get smashed daily in that area. The hotel is in bad state doesn't seem to have had any renovations since the past 30 years at least worsthotel ever stayed in my life.
