Was visiting Columbia on business; stayed at this hotel because of the low price. Staff was very friendly, room was clean. If you are looking for a classy hotel with lots of amenities, keep looking. If you are looking for a decent place to spend a few nights, I recommend it!

Friendly staff. Roach bugs and dirty toilets. After room service came by, on second day, it was still there, so they never bothered to lift toilet seat to see it whether it is clean while I was there. Also, there were roach bugs living under the telephone on the night table. Staff folks were friendly enough, showers worked, many of towels had old stains in them and bed covers had old burn marks in them. I have seen worse places, but clean hotels do not seem to be common in South Carolina.

We stayed at this hotel on our return trip from Florida. Our daughter, who was traveling with us, wanted to stop and visit some college friends, so we decided at the last minute to stop for the weekend. So, the day before leaving Florida, we got online to research our options. However, due to the fact that there was a major concert in town that weekend, many of the Columbia hotels were either sold out, or very expensive. The Red Roof seemed like an "ok" choice for our stay. But when we arrived late Friday evening, and given a room, it appeared as though someone was occupying the room, or had occupied it. So we were given another room. Unfortunately, it was on the 2nd floor, which we did not want. We were traveling with our two small grandchildren (2 year old and a 5-month old). This meant lugging them and their necessities up a long flight of stairs and down a hallway. After doing so, we found the room quite dirty. There was only one chair at the table (instead of usual two) and it was stained with heaven knows what! The desk telephone had smudges, and dirt pooled in the headrest area. The bathroom had mold on the tiles and on the shower curtain. Inquiring if there were any "clean" rooms, we were told nothing else was available. We decided to stay, but were not happy. Then, getting ready to sleep, we pulled down the comforter only to find a bunch of dead black bugs all over the top of the blanket. We have no idea what they were, but there were a LOT of them. My husband instantly began to make phone calls to find another hotel, but was having no luck....at least not for anything under 200 for the night. So he left the motel to find someplace where we could get on our computer. After two hours of searching, still no luck for that evening, but we were able to find a rather pricey hotel for the following evening. So, unfortunately, we sadly had to spend the night. Of course, I refused to sleep, nor put any of the children down on those beds. So we removed all the linen

The staff was very courteous and friendly. The location is right next to the interstate hwy. The city center is about five miles away. There was a slightly detectable smell of sewage from the bathroom area. This could be due to the old city infrastructure in the area and entirely out of the hands of the hotel people.

Not sure if 100 words could decribe this horror called a motel. The first room had nats/fleas? coming out of the sink. The second room was so dirty, not to mention the visible mold along the entire front window. My family and I stayed 1 night out of a planned 4 night stay. We could not shower, or even sit in the 2 chairs in the room. To be on the safe side we slept in our clothes!!!!! on top of the bed. Enough said. If you care for your health or the health of anyone close to you. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Based on what most hotels charge today Red Roof offers a comfortable bed and when you consider most people are only passing through that is allthat is required. Excellent location to major Highway and close to town center. Roomwasbasically what you expect from Red Roof

if you value your health or anything else you cherish----please DO NOT STAY HERE. there was plenty of visible mold in our room. we stayed one night because everything in the city was booked. we slept in our clothes and i was afraid to take a shower. 100 words could not describe this place.---the staff was very understanding and was even going to take half off of our stay. they were great, not only helpful but, professional and friendly. close the hotel and relocate the staff---they deserve better.

The room at the Red Roof Inn was small with a bed, dresser, night stand, small chair and a TV. It was four walls and a bed. Fortunately, the only time I spent in the room was the few hours I slept. Regarding the little things, the shampoo was in small pouches, there was mold in the shower, no facial tissue dispenser in the room, the used towels were not changed out daily, the bed covers were basically pulled up tight each day and it was late afternoon before the room received housekeeping attention. The TV access was OK but getting to the free basic channels (NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, etc.) required several steps. Everything else was pay as you go. Although there was a restaurant across the adjoining parking lot, it never appeared open--may have been permanently shut down. The only amenities in the hotel were limited to a small vending room near the office and free coffee in the office entryway. The hotel desk was accessible 24-hours per day, although after hours, the transactions could only be made through a bank-teller like window with bullet proof glass. The night I checked in (around 11:00 p.m.) a man wearing a T-Shirt with POLICE on the front was sitting in a chair in the small lobby behind the locked lobby entrance door. He appeared to be armed, although clearly bored with having to be there, possibly on an overnight shift. On the plus side, the office staff seemed courteous, the room temperature/ventilation were generally good for sleeping, the shower worked well (although there was mold in places), the price was low and the hotel was fairly close to the freeway exit (although about six miles from downtown). Overall, I wouldn't stay at this motel again and I would not recommend it to others, especially women or children.

It was easy to find right off the high way, but you couldn't hear the traffic. The Red Roof Inn was with in a short walk to several restaurants and good parking. The room had a soft King size bed and a desk. With the King size in the room it left little room for moving around and for your bags. The A/C was ether full blast or off. Other then that, the room was cozy and smelled nice. All in all it was nice for a night or two, but I wouldn't do an extended stay there.

The room is small, but comfortable. A good place to just sleep - no amenities. Great coffee in the lobby! Good location.
