Very close to MAX, and close enough to restaurants. Alittle dingy, windows/curtains outdated, dismal hallways.

Hotel being refurbished-only the meeting areas at this time. Rooms small with low ceilings- upstairs bar in need of ambiance Downstairs restaurant very good breakfast provided Give the hotel another 6 months for refurbishment of the rooms
Date of Stay:

the hotel was clean. there was construction going on but this did not affect us in any way. the beds were comfortable, and the room was large enough for 3 teenagers(one slept on the floor in a bed roll) and they all were very comfortable. Breakfast was available on-site for purchase and was freshly made(pancakes/fresh fruit/omelets) and was delicious. this place was no frills but was fine: clean, secure. On-site parking was * overnight. Downtown Portland is easily reached by driving over one if several bridges.

Location. Very poor insulation between rooms, housekeeping did not check room before our arrival. Location is excellent, light rail is immediately across the street, is free to downtown and Lloyd Center. They are trying to improve the hotel amenities, and the room was pleasant enough. The air conditioning system control is designed more for energy savings than for customer comfort, as we were there during a period when the temperature was controlled automatically, we were too warm the whole time. Insulation between rooms was virtually non existent, but we were lucky because there was only one guest for one night in the room next to us (where we stayed for four nights).

Didn't spend much time in the room, since they don't provide heat unless the outside temperature is below 55F. Dingy carpet color that doesn't match walls makes it seem dirty when it might not be. Cramped, but adequate amenities. Best feature is location: across from the Convention Center and the free light rail into downtown or Lloyd Center.

It was across the street from the convention center. No pool or hot tub. No breakfast. Pay for parking.

This hotel is in a great location for many Portland activities, and the staff are great at helping one find discounts when one is a business traveller. But...disabled parking for guests is in a dark basement area in which one has to use a card key or buzz the front desk (up one level) to get in...it can be quite unnerving after dark if one uses a wheelchair. The front desk staff are great, and I can't say enough about the accessibility of my room in comparison to several I'd stayed in during recent days (I was on a rigorous tour). There were more bars in the bathroom than most prisons - and actually well-placed, which I find a rare delicacy. Sink was roll-under and knobs were quad-friendly. There was an actual bathtub (YES!! I HATE when they force us to shower w/ those roll-in abominations...I want a CHOICE!) w/ a sturdy tub seat with a back - AND they'd recognized our need for extra towels w/o my asking! The closet was wheelchair height. I do have to agree that it was difficult to regulate the temperature in my room, and (as mine was right above the lobby entrance -231) I could hear everything anyone said from outside my windows, which had no insulation, but did have darkness blinds. I would stay here again, mostly because of the great business rate I got and the helpfulness of the staff (they have a security guard on duty in the basement parking after dark, which was very reassuring) and the really good omelet I got from room service!

Great service, very helpful and friendly. Too much construction. Hotel off a busy freeway, lots of road noise.

While the hotel was in a good location, you'd expect more from a Red Lion. The room was crackerbox size. The building is at a set temperature and there is no control over the heat or air conditioning. The hotel offers a heater or a fan. It was cold in Portland and we literally froze, we took the bedding from the other bed. The hotel changed our room to another floor they believed to be warmer, but it was also cold. Noises from the hallway and other rooms were audible throughout the night. We would not stay there again.

Good location. The hotel overall is clean and satisfactory. The lounge currently is undergoing renovation. The buffalo burger and the breakfasts were both good and service was quick. Getting in and out is somewhat challenging but normal for that area of Portland.

A good value for a Portland hotel. Right on the MAX line so it is very convenient to get around town. It is in "Fareless Square" so there is no cost to ride the MAX line across the river into downtown Portland. The hotel itself is showing its age. It is a little run down, especially the carpets in the hallways, and bathrooms. It is otherwise clean and he beds are comfortable. The wireless internet is slow, with low connectivity even on the second floor.

Adjacent to light rail. Easy access downtown. Lloyd Center nearby. Nice staff. This hotel lacks air conditioning and heating. Fans and space heaters are needed for comfort. This is an older hotel that got a major makeover. Lobby and hallways are attractive. Rooms are quite nice, too. However, the company failed to replace the heating and air conditioning system, and space heaters and fans are required to heat and cool the rooms. That is a major problem with this hotel. Free internet in lobby is a plus.

This hotel was located at a convenient spot just across the river from downtown. The staff was friendly and everything was clean.

The hotel was a breeze to get to, right on the Max line. It was a convenient location to get to downtown, the zoo, children's museum etc... The only drawback to location was that there was only a Dennys and Red Robin within walking distance to eat at. The room was nice. It was clean and they had Bath and Body Works products in the bathroom. The bed was a pillow top, but VERY soft. Also, the pillows weren't all that great, so if you are particular about that, you may want to bring your own. The temperature of the room is controlled by the hotel, but there was a floor fan in the room for added comfort. Another plus was the mini fridge and microwave in the room. Great for us traveling with small children! We would stay here again! One thing that could make the hotel even better would be a pool. Front desk staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions.

The staff was awesome, the room was beautiful! The room was a little warm and nothing I did seemed to help, but they had a fan, I'm just not used to sleeping with a fan on me. The hotel was easy to find, close to everything I needed and the staff was fun and friendly. My room was comfortable.

"They should be ashamed of charging over $*. Worst night in a hotel room ever. Loud. Paper thin walls, terrible location woke me--me, who sleeps with earplugs--up at least 20 times during the night as cars bottomed out on the streetcar tracks, and the MAX rolled into the station throughout the night. Cigarette smoke wafted throught the room for hours. People smoking directly under the room in the parking lot; fumes pulled into the hotels ventilation system. I hate to even think of that hotel."

Location to restaurants and shopping was great. The room was outdated and in disrepair. It took 10 minutes for someone to come greet us to check us in. The walls had water damage. The bathroom door was chipped up badly at the bottom. The tub had a nasty black mark all the way across it where there had been a glass shower door. The surface of the tub was chipped down in the bottom. The room was very small, outdated and not comfortable for sitting. It was clean, and that's about the only thing that was good. I've used Priceline a lot and always had good results.

We arrived in Portland super late (after midnight) and they still had our room, so staff was pretty good, if unenthusiastic. Rooms are dark and in desperate need of remodeling. Cigarette smoke was an issue. We were able to print from the business center the following morning. Overall, a mediocre stay but cheap!

They have good beds. Room was small. This hotel fall short of my expection. I would not stay there again.

"The friendly staff could not overcome the absurdly poor parking and the dingy, tired interior (in public and private areas) of the hotel. If you have to stay in the Lloyd Center and nothing else is available, this hotel is okay.."
