Proximity to downtown area, clean lobby area. I think a 3-star hotel should have an indoor pool. The entry area was nice, but there was nothing really unique or impressive about the room that would make it worthy of 3 stars. It could easily have been any 1 or 2 star hotel room. The only exception would maybe be the mattresses, which were comfortable for a hotel. But the pillows were small, squarish, and thick - bad enough that after our first night, 3 members of my family had sore backs and necks, so we had to go to WalMart and buy 3 pillows. There was only one sink, which was placed in the bathroom rather than in the outer area, preventing shared use. There was a fridge, which was nice, but the only microwave available was down in the lobby - not a big deal for me, but my husband was disappointed. The TV had cable, but the channels were fuzzy much of the time. The pool and jacuzzi were outdoors, so we weren't able to enjoy them nearly as much as we would have liked due to rainy weather. And when my daughter was swimming in the pool, a man who had been smoking off his balcony (looking down at the pool) flicked his cigarette and it landed in the pool. There are 3 restaurants in the hotel, but all 3 were priced like room service - way too expensive for a family. We ended up getting breakfast next door at the Maverick gas station.

I was in a business trip. Red Lion Hotel employees were very friendly and respectful. This location was just a couple of blocks walking from the Train/Rail Station.

Great room and very attentive staff. A little more road noise than I normally like, but still OK. The lobby and the rooms are lovely. The bed was very comfortable. The reading chair in my room was terrific, with a nice ottoman, so it was more like a chaise lounge. The staff is very attentive. The overhead light in my bathroom blew out when I flipped the switch, and the maintenance staff person responded very promptly when I notified the front desk. Also, despite it being June, it had been cold for a number of days, and I found my room a little chilly. The central heating had already been turned off, so they brought me a space heater. Oddly enough, the corridors of the hotel were not so great. The entire hotel is non-smoking now, but I was on what had clearly once been the smoking floor - and it was obvious by the smell in the corridors. (That said, my room was perfectly fresh smelling, so I'm guessing that it's the carpeting in the corridors that needs to be replaced.) Overall - a great place! I would stay there again for sure!

It's clear the Red Lion has seen better days. The hotel is badly in deen of a sprucing up. Far too many ice machines/vending machines/etc. had "Out of Order" signs. The computer access for printing out boarding had an "Out of Order" sign that looked like it had been there a long time. The occupancy rate seemed very low, and I'm beginning to have an idea why. It wasn't terrible, but if I had to stay more than a night, I'd look elsewhere.

Location was not too bad. The staff was rude. Stay away from the rooms and floors located below the Sky Bar. The noise was awful from the nightclub/bar.

I came there for a funeral. The hotel desk staff were great. They held my room till after midnight. They haave that great 24/7 shuttle from the airport and came minutes after I called for a ride. The staff helped us with directions. The restaurant food and service were excellent. The location was prime for seeing the sights. A great experience.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and enjoyed the stay. I went from this hotel in SLC to the same Red Lion hotel chain in Denver and had a great experience their as well.

The Red Lion Hotel proved nicer than I had expected with a large room and even a little balcony. The bed was very large and comfortable. I wouldn't suggest going there on New Years Eve however, the hotel was full of people partying all night and it was pretty loud at times.

Red Lion is a great hotel. Thre rooms are clean, comfortable and most all have a balcony. I loved the location and we were able to walk to all the things we wanted to do. I really like that they do not charge for parking. This can be an extra $15-$20 in Salt Lake and the parking is right behind the hotel.

Our room at the Red Lion was not up to the standards of our previous experience. The room itself was quite small -- hardly room in which to walk around the bed, the bath tub had numerous chips down to the enamel, the air conditioning was not working properly, and when we tried to open the patio door to get some cooler/fresh air into the room, we discovered that the curtain sheers had black sticky grease on them which evidently came from the new window sealant -- because we got it all over our hands too! Our room from our previous stay was much nicer and maintained, so be careful of your room. Immediately check things out and if not satisfied with it, call down and ask for a different room before the front deck says sorry, none available. Also, the free airline check-in computer was not worry properly so had to have the front staff do it for us -- which they did.

Price. It was not a three-star hotel. They charged my credit card. This hotel should be classified as a two-star hotel. Though the price was right, it was located next to two seedy convenience stores and did not seem not very safe or secure. Additionally, though I booked the room on Priceline, the hotel charged my credit card and now I am going through hassles trying to get my money back.
