We stayed at the hotel most of the time. The pools are great and the hotel is in walking distance from the beach and great shops and resturants. This is our second time at this resort and will return in the future. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The pools were great. Overpriced. Classic vacation destination. I have been staying here for over 20 years.

This was a wonderful trip. Clean, very well maintained facility. The beach is gorgeous and close to all the rooms. The pools are clean and clear. The staff was polite to us and our children. It was a great time! We can't wait to return!

I had booked a regular room and was totally expected one that had a view of the parking lot. I don't know if it was because we checked in late (8PM), or if there were busloads of military guys staying, but when we checked in, (after one of the Marines let us move to the front of the line as there were about 80 guys checking in) as soon as I walked up to the counter the lady told us we got a free upgrade to an ocean front room. This made our vacation. We had a balcony overlooking the ocean and the beach bar, where a guy played music on Friday and Saturday afternoon. It was great. Also the pools are fabulous. However the cafe is not that great and is way overpriced also the boardwalk . You are better off driving into Destin and eating at the more established waterfront places.. Destin is real close as this hotel is near where the hotes end and the AFB land is before the Brooks(Destin) Bridge. We had a great stay, mainly due to having the Ocean Front Room. My kids would wake up first thing in the AM and go sit on the Balcony every morning. Great hotel if you have small ones. There are ground floor rooms that have balconies that literally step off into the pool.

Accommodating desk and bar staff. Housekeeping staff seemed disorganized. Pleasant, located near beach and away from noise; attractive grounds, extremely good value for money.

We spent a full week here when we went for a family wedding. The only complaints I have are that the rooms are small, beds are small (but comfortable), and the rooms could use updating. Also, the hallway near the elevators always smelled like cigarette smoke. The staff was wonderful, including our maid service. She was just great. The heated pools were nice and warm. When we arrived, we upgraded to a gulf view room and weren't charged extra since rates were reduced since we paid for the room a couple months earlier. A complementary breakfast would have been nice, but the restaurant breakfast buffet was great. We went twice. The second time, we weren't charged for our 5 year old since he hardly ate anything. It just wasn't on the bill when I received it. Our 1 year old was already free. Everything we wanted was in walking distance, including the sand playground for the kids. My husband could walk to the pier to fish (although there wasn't much of anything there to catch while we were there), we could walk over to the Gulfarium (which we go to every year anyway), restaurants and bars next to the hotel. The stay was so great we plan on going back again next summer when the rooms are more than twice the price as this trip. Then we'll also be able to use the amenities and activities that were closed for the season.

The pools. The breakfast bar. I enjoyed this hotel a lot. It was close to everything, and a short walk to the beach. It was more than I thought it would be.

hotel was nice a little out of date, though. DO NOT EAT THE BREAKFEAST!! It is grossly over priced and the worst hotel breakfeast I've ever had. I wish they had a king size bed with a ocean view. Would recommend for a family vacation though as close to the beach as you can get and great pools and within walking distance of restaurants on the beach. Again DONT EAT THE CAFE BREAKFAST.

We were given a small outside room. Around 11:00 p.m. three groups of people checked in and preceeded to drink, cuss and party all night and into the morning until about 6:00 a.m. We asked them if they minded holding it down since our children were trying to sleep. Then we called the night security around 12:00 but obviously he was not very effective. The next morning when we were requesting our money back, they said that they had many complaints about them and security had gone over about 17 times. They did comp our room and move us to a beach front. So, I would highly recommend that someone pay the extra to get the beachfront rooms. They were much, much nicer - the walls were thicker, decor nicer and they were bigger.

Accessibility to beach and local restaurants. Door lock to room was inoperable and needed to have maintenance repair. Overall facility was fine; however the wing our room was located in had problems with the door lock that required repair, thus an annoyance upon arrival of actually accessing the room.

We took our 13, 10, and 8 year old girls for a karate tournament at the Emerald Coast Convention Center which is right across the street. We had a beachfront room with 2 double beds but changed to adjoining rooms poolfront. The single room was way, way too tiny for a family. The pool rooms on the first floor are better because the girls were able to step into the pool off of the room's patio. That way my husband and I could rest comfortably without having to watch them from a pool chair. There's an outdoor pool bar beneath a faux mountain in the middle of the pool. A waterfall is suppose to flow over this, but it was so windy that they had it turned off. There's entrances into the bar via the pool itself and a bridge. I had an overpriced, small, unattractive frozen margarita with practically no alcohol. I had to leave the bar immediately because of the biker type smoking clientele. My 13 year old refused to swim because she said the people in the pool looked gross. The beach is easily accessible from the back first floor and there's another deck-type bar with music there. There were several weddings going on Saturday night and the kids had to be careful not to be playing in the sand or water behind the parties taking pictures of these events. My husband told us stories of his vacations at this very hotel 2-3 decades ago. Definately ask to stay in the newer section beachfront!!! We'll stay at a nicer, but more expensive condo next trip.

After checking in and leaving the lobby, I was very excited about being here. The lobby was beautiful. Then I got to the room and was very disappointed. Besides being very old, our room was really small for /night. When I went up front to see if I could upgrade to a larger room, I was told that it would be an additional /night. We decided to just deal with the smaller room. The carpets in our room could have used a good shampooing. Everytime my 11 month old got on the floor her feet, knees and hands ended up being black from the dirty carpet. There was also a moldy substance on the ceiling and near the refrigerator and a foul smell coming from behind the refrigerator. The pools were very nice. We didn't get to enjoy the grotto pool because kids that are not potty trained are not allowed in that pool. We had to use the heated pool and kiddy pool which were both fine. The splash garden was a hit with my 11 month old and 4 year old. We did not eat at any of the dining areas. I was a little surprised that this hotel did not offer the continental breakfast like most hotels do now. A cup of coffee will cost you about .

all in all was an ok experience, a dead bug in the dresser as i unpacked started a bad experience, but i figured florida !!!! right, so i let it go and didnt complain, the rooms were small for the price, but the beds were nice. the pools were exceptional and the beach was fabulous. no towel access at the pools seemed low class, the price for anything additional was outrageous including the watered down drinks. so bring your own supplies, the front desk seemed incompetent as they tried to charge us for additional fees even though we paid in full before we came, but that got worked out . so be prepared have your own supplies and dont trust the bill, scrutinize closely

We stayed here when our boys were 4 and 2 and this was their first trip to the beach. Lots of wonderful memories were made! The pool with the huge waterfall was really interesting but the water was a bit cold, however we stayed in September so maybe that was why. The lush tropical landscaping on the property kept the kiddos amazed and made for some great pix. Their favorite activities were the heated pool/kiddie pool and large splash pad. We rented the beach chairs/umbrellas and that was a very convenient plus for the 2 of us fair skinned red-heads? Restaurants in walking distance and the Gulfarium closeby were an added bonus. Don't remember much about the staff but we were hardly in our room...and yes the rooms were a little small and dated but who cares! We were there for the beach not the room! Our room was overlooking the beach and we felt we had plenty of privacy and had no disturbances. September is a beautiful time to visit. Most youngsters are in school at that time so it was very relaxing for us all without the crowds. I personally wasn't bothered by the lack of parking/parking deck....hey, that's what husbands are for...have them bring the car around! ha! The breakfast was not complimentary but it was good to spoil ourselves one day and eat their fancy breakfast spread. Otherwise I recommend bringing your own granola bars or picking up some milk/cereal to eat in the mornings. The restaurant was too $y for us to eat at everyday. Bring $ for the laundry facility - that was a plus for us so we didn't drag home stinky wet beach towels and swimsuits. If you have kids and are heading to Ft.Walton/Destin...this is the place to stay!

I loved this resort because it was right on the ocean and it had the Boardwalk right next to it so you didn't have to drive to go eat. A walk on the beach and the fishing pier at night was so romantic. The moonlight was amazing and the swimming was wonderful during the day. I prefered the beach bar over the grotto bar. If you go ask for Craig, he makes the best rum runners ever. He should be voted the best employee of the year. The Pearl Harbor was my favorite restraunt at the Boardwalk. A lttle pricey but well worth it.
