Date of Stay: June, 2009

There was good beach access and the room was clean. The bathroom was very small making it difficult to use. The hotel was easy to fine. Parking was across the street and down a half block but free valet parking was available, so it wasn't a problem. I did not like being accosted by a guest services person as soon as I had registered. They purported to be giving us tips on dining, places to visit, etc. But I felt the main idea was to push a sales presentation for Turtle Cay. This is a resort hotel across the street. We were tired, sweaty and hungry. I was in no mood to listen to anything but a shower. I realize that this person was only doing their job, but it was annoying. Twice more we were approached about this and twice more we declined. I can say that pressure tactics weren't used, but I came for a vacation, not a sales presentation. If I had wanted that, I would have gone to the sight that promised sixty nine dollar rooms in exchange for listening to the presentation. You had to walk through the main lobby to get to and from the swimming pool. This was a minor inconvenience. These are the only faults I found with the hotel. The staff was almost uniformly pleasant and usually said good morning or good afternoon to you. We had one breakfast buffet in the restaurant, it was very good and reasonably priced.

We where pleasantly suprised by the comfort of the beds. The bathroom was a little cramped, but the overall sze and comfort of the room made up for it.

Our vacation was great. The room was nice, clean, and the view was perfect. Right on the beach, steps from the ocean. We will stay here again.

In the center of everything, wonderful amenities, awesome staff. Not a thing! Could not have been a more pleasant experience over our 3-day, 2-night stay. The decor was beautiful, the staff was beyond helpful and truly aimed to please. The hotel itself was quiet, everything placed in an easy-to-get-at location, the food in the restaurant was topnotch and the wait staff perfect, just the right touch. Wouldn't change a thing!

I have been staying at this hotel at least once a year for the past 8 years and I will continue to do so - all rooms have an oceanfront view, the staff is always friendly, and the restaurant, Mahi-Mah's is fantastic. Great oceanview, fantastic outdoor music during the summer, a great happy hour and overall great food. The Mahi's staff is excellent as is the food - I will definitely be returning...

This hotel is right off the beach adn right next to a pretty good restaurant called Mahi Mahi. The restaurant has been visited by several celebities so I guess it has a decent reputation. The restaurant also has a nice bar with great bartenders. There is also a stage right outside where a band was playing. They may only play on the weekends. Nice family entertainment.

lets start with the beds....very very comfortable and soft clean room from check in to check out.the staff professional and nice.I was tempted to stay longer but had to go.had to wait for my car but how the hotel was run you really didn't mind. no fridge was my only gripe

We asked for a smoking room, but there were no ashtrays. Front desk said they would send some up but never did. Valet services lost our car keys, promised to reimburse for key replacement, but never did. I will never sat at this hotel again.

Mahi Mahs and Pool were outstanding. Elevators were out of service -Valet is an issue.

I wouldn't stay here again if paid too. The website said completely renovated. True if you count only the lobby and the posh restaurant. The rest of the place was dirty, with peeling paint, a bathroom you couldn't turn around in, and dust on every surface. The shower had two settings, hot and scalding (no cold water at all). The tile in the bathroom had broken grout, the toilet was missing all caulking, and wobbled when you sat. Cleaning started at 0630, with continuous banging and vacuuming. I informed the front desk manager of the room conditions, especially the water temperature for the shower. Her response, "I've heard that before about this room", and giggled. No apology for the condition, nothing.

Our room was no better than average. Clearly an old hotel with cosmetic changes. The noise from the stage on the boardwalk was deafening. When we requested a room change we were told the hotel was full.

It was right on the beach. The restaurant was incredible. Helpful staff. The hotel was centrally located to major attractions at the beach. The staff was very helpful in terms of extending checkout and allowing us to keep our car parked in the facility for several additional hours. The rooms were clean and well decorated.

The bed was more comfortable than any hotel I have been in, including much more expensive. Had to call front desk because the TV in the next room was so loud. The TV was promptly turned down. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The mattress and bedding were perfect. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels that were not as comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed the balcony overlooking the beach and surf. The room was newly remodeled and very clean.

Very nice beachfront rooms, great staff, much nicer than expected, I won't hesitate to stay again. Bathroom setup was awkward with the way the door opened, but that's the only thing I noticed, everything was great! I was very surprised how nice the hotel was when my girlfriend and I arrived. The valet guys were great, front desk was very friendly, and the guest services gave us discounted tickets to Busch Gardens (small discount but better than none). Our room was very nice and the king size bed was the ultimate in comfort. This will be the first hotel I look for when I return to VA beach.

"Location, clean rooms and excellent service would make me recommend this hotel to just about anyone. It is literally on the beach. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The ceilings had damage - probably from the hurricane that had recently gone through a couple of weeks before. We had two issues to work through and the staff was helpful, polite and immediately responsive. We had a great stay!"

Location to beach. A rock band playing at 6 am, and the hotel didn't warn us before checking in. The front desk was rude. They hosted a music festival that played below my room until midnight and resumed at 6 am. The road was blocked off so we were forced to stay additional time and the hotel charged us for leaving late. The room was the size of a motel room, the sink was outside the bathroom.
