Very convenient, furniture/amenities outdated, nice size room, good parking

Location was great. Staff was very helpful. Original room had a leak, but we were moved with no problems. Hotel is just kind ofold, but as clean and up to date as it could be. Overall stay was fine. Felt it was a little overpriced. The elevator is a little scary, shaky and does a drop after the final stop. Our room had a leak but after we reported it we were moved to another room no problem. No breakfast provided- but parking is free and in a covered area. Staff was helpful and location was great for access to several attractions. Facilities are just old.

Clean, reasonably quiet, comfortable bed, free parking. What more can you ask for? The place seemed a bit dated, but it was much less expensive than anything else around, especially with university rates.

This was a steal for the price since it was considered downtown Chicago, but u get what u pay for . When booking i got attitude, and it wasn't much better when we got there. The hotel dolley barely fit in the elevator, that sounded like it was going to crash at any moment. The room was full of ripped furniture, and bangs on the wall. the toilet is so close to the sink u hit it everytime. when going for ice, went to 3 floors and none of the machines were working ALL night. My husband was V ERY conserned on the area we were in, came up with a lie, so we did not have to stay the other 3 night.

The location is what makes staying at that hotel worth the price. Being able to watch the Sun rise over Lake Michigan was priceless! It's the only chain hotel in the area. The staff was very helpful and accomidating. The rooms need new carpet and furniture. the decor was very depressing.

The distance from public transportation. Vending machines did not work. This is a great hotel, especially for people who want to visit the University of Chicago, because then you can just take the 172 bus right to the university. Everyone is extremely helpful, especially with directions.

My family has a tendency to get lost if we travel more than 50 miles from our house so going to Chicago was definitely going to test our sense of direction. We asked the staff at the front desk every day for directions on how to get places (which I am certain was pretty annoying) but they cheerfully helped us every single time and gave us easier directions to follow than the internet ever did. They had bus schedules figured out and everything. The rooms were fairly comfortable and aside from another guest deciding that 4am is the perfect time to start slamming doors it was a restful visit.

This hotel was comfortable, quiet, and clean, and the manager was friendly and helpful. The exercise room has a good view out to the Lake, which was unusual and pleasant. The hotel's location was, however, much farther away from the museum campus and the Loop than I thought it was from the description. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, so the floor was slippery and unsafe after each time I took a shower.

It smelled pretty bad. I had to bring my own air freshener in. The layout of the hotel is wierd. We were place at the bottom of the stairs and the door was loud.

Clean, convenient. Older style (1960) Older style hotel, convenient to museums. It has been updated as much as possible without reconstruction. Staff was friendly, beds comfortable with an abundance of pillows. Free parking - something to consider in Chicago.

My husband and I took our grandson to Chicago to visit friends/famiy and the museums, etc. We were very happy with our stay at the Ramada. The young lady at the front desk allowed us to check in early. Our room, tho small, was clean and comfortable. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job in our room while we were out. The pool was unavailable the first day of our stay due to a storm the night befor, but the staff did a great job cleaning it and we were able to enjoy a good swim! The view is excellent (Lake Shore Drive) and just a hop, skip and jump to the museums, planetarium, aquarium and downtown. I found the staff at the front desk to be friendly, courteous and helpful. I hope to stay there again. Thanks, Ramada, for making our trip so pleasant!

For the past three years, I have booked a block of rooms at the Ramada Lakeshore for an annual Chicago event. Each year we have enjoyed our stay, but this past year was exemplary. Everyone from the reservation manager to the front desk staff was professional. We felt very welcomed. Our group rented one of the banquet rooms and everything went beautifully. The value of this hotel cannot be matched in the area. The restaurant is on site and excellent, with prime rib so big that won't even fit on the plate! The lobby has recently been renovated and is looking great. The parking is free and ample. We always have a great stay, but I just want to say thank you for making a good thing even better! We look forward to housing our event participants at the Ramada Lakeshore in years to come.

Free shuttle (3/day) and $2.00 express bus to the Loop & N.Mich Ave. Wi-Fi in lobby. On LakeShore, park & jogging. Close to restaurants, bookstores, & U Chicago. One block from Obama's health club, mile from house. Forty minutes to Midway at rush hour, twenty minutes other times. Amenities adequate.

Free parking, good location, easy cab accessibility. Hard to regulate room temperature. Newly remodeled. They did a good job. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Pillows extra fluffy so if you like flat pillows bring your own. Old heating system so had to open the windows to cool the room down as heat came into room regardless if heater was off.

After a mix-up in reservations in another hotel, we were able to secure a room in this hotel. The location was within 20 minutes with cabs very accessible. We were grateful to find this room. The hotel is older and in dire need of renovation. The rooms were fairly clean but the furniture had seen better days. My only real complaint was that the desk clerk was actually arguing with another guest when we arrived. She was very disrespectful and unprofessional. I don't think that I would stay in this hotel again if I returned to Chicago.

This is quite possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! The hotel staff took 25 minutes to check us in and get a room key for us, even though it was 1:30AM and no one else was in line before us. The room had peeling wallpaper in the bedroom, a horrid odor everywhere, the shower wall had a strange, sticky, yellow substance all over it, and the ceiling in the sitting room had three holes, and only two of them were patched. The ice machine didn't work on our floor, and there were exposed, leaking/dripping pipes above the coke machine. At 3AM, a HOMELESS man knocked at our door, and tried to get in. I find this appalling seeing as we were on the second floor, which means he had to get past the hotel front desk to come up to our room. When I tried to call the front desk and report the man, both of the phones in our room were broken. When we reported the issue the next morning, the front desk manager was unsympathetic and offered no apologies. We will never stay in this establishment again. There were too many issues and concerns.

We were disappointed to find our room had two different pieces of liter on the floor upon arriving. The facility as a whole was not kept up well. Light bulbs were missing in our room and some of the bulbs didn't work in the bathroom. We wouldn't want to stay in this hotel again. The overall impression was one of which the management just wasn't concered with the appearance or working functions of the hotel guest rooms. On the plus side, the rooms did have a refrigerator which was very helpful.

The desk staff was very friendly and very helpful with a problem that was not their fault. The bath tub had a small amount of mold in the corners. I would stay there again, without a doubt.

My family stayed here while dropping ourdaughter off at college. We were very satisfied. The room and bath were very comfortable and clean, the breakfast offerings at the restaurant were excellent and we were able to walk easily into the Hyde Park neighborhood. We were also very glad since there was a lot of luggage in our car, that we were able to park it in a garage attached to the hotel tha was locked at night. We would have no hestiation in retuning here.

The Ramada Inn Lake Shore was my worst experience by far. I was in town for an international show and hotel rooms were scarce. Resulted in hours of lost time before I relocated to another hotel. Reservation staff were unprofessional and not concerned with helping.
