A NIGHTMAREMy wife and I booked this hotel via laterooms as we needed somewhere in Chester to stay and the 4-star grading hooked us in. From the moment we arrived at the hotel at midnight after a seven hour drive I knew we had made an awful mistake. Despite requesting on the booking form that we be given a non smoking room, we were given a half mile walk to our room on the other side of the hotel, only to find it was a designated smoking room. The walls and ceiling were yellow, the bed was broken and filthy and the place was disgusting. Another hike to reception to complain and we were given a new room - next to the smoking room on the other side of the hotel - which was equally bad. The paper was peeling off the ceilings, the carpet was sticky and the bed felt like a Roman army had stamped across it's springs. The bathroom was the best - a long black hair sticking out of the sink plug hole and pubic hairs over the toilet and bath. We had no choice but to stay as it was gone midnight. In the morning we were that hungry we chanced the breakfast - a big mistake. All the food had clearly been bought from the value shelves of a value supermarket - it was an utter disgrace. I remember when the Ramada brand was quite a good one (back in the 80s) but those days are well and truly over. I will never stay in a Ramada hotel again and will be advising friends and colleagues to avoid them as well.

Had an enjoyable stay, however the room we was allocated was a little scuffy, ie the bathroom was worn out especially for a 4* hotel and was placed in a room over viewing the carpark which was a little noisy due to a wedding function / birthday parties etc. Overall had a nice time in Chester.

Good HotelAlthough it is outside of Chester, the car park next door gives you quick access to Chester city center (times are from 7am to 7pm). Good clean hotel, friendly service although the walls are paper thin. We were put right outside the the main door upstairs and right above the main entrance. I would ask to be moved next time. All in all, a good hotel for a short break.

Reception staff pleasant enough but I was not pleased that breakfast was not included in the relatively high price I had paid for the stay. Another £8 per person for breakfast ! Rooms are strangely claustrophobic, low ceilings and small, I've stayed in roomier travelodges. Hotel is about 1 1/2 miles out of Chester so just about walkable. Overall ok but not what I expect from a Ramada, more like a budget chain with the high price of a prestige chain. No way is this a 4* experience. If you are looking for a special weekend away look elsewhere.

Two days for shopping trip (aniversory)The hotel was fine - the staff in general were friendly, however the girl at the health suite on our first visit was a little bit officious (it was her complex) but once your were in, she did look after you and knew your every movements. The spa was great, most of the time we had it to ourselves. The beds were clean and comfortable. We took the advice of previous guests and ate at the pub (a Harvester) across the road to the right, under the dual carriageway. It was fantastic value for money and only a short walk. The staff were very friendly and offered very good advice on where to eat in Chester the following evening, (chez Joules @ Northgate)

A pleasant hotel except for having to pass through people smoking to get in the main entrance- not a good first impression.Food prices a little on the expensive side therefore we went out for our evening meal, but the breakfast was good value. leisure facilities were very good as were check in/out.I would use this hotel again.

Ramada Chester for the racesVery nice reception area and bar but the room was a disappointment. We asked at the time of booking for a twin but were given a double this was ok considering the groups of young women and men staying obviously for the races. The room was distinctly 2 star and in need of a bit of refurbishing, especially the bathroom which was definately in need of a complete refurbishment. No noise though.

A good hotel just out of the centre of Chester. Ideally placed for the Park and Ride about 100 m away and very convenient to use as it drops you in the centre of Chester so no worries about parking. Hotel facilities very good - Restaurant a bit pricey so we eat out but breakfast was good and good value if you book when checking in. The room we had was small (standard) but was fine for a weekend and was clean with tea/coffee facilites. Staff all very friendly - overall a good experience.

Nice hotel, though food/drink was overpricedGot the room for £64 per night room only. Arrived late/tired, used Brasserie. What a mistake! Cost for a Burger, extra onion rings, desert, large glass of wine and a coffee was £32, a whiskey in the bar to drown my sorrows was aonther £5. What a shame! Had the burger been a nice bit of aberdeen angus cooked to perfection I wouldent have minded, but that was not the case. Next time I will take a cab to a local resturant and have a better meal for the same money. It is worth mentioning that they had a 3 course meal of the day option for £22 plus drinks, I just didn't fancy a full 3 courses.

Not=Value for moneyThe Room was quite small for the price in that area. The double bed was too small and my husband's legs were dangling out. The other hotels in the area were charging £90 that included breakfast and had a bigger room with good ensuite facility.

Hotel ok, but Laterooms relationship with them not goodI arrived at the hotel having booked my last minute room to be told they had not received my booking from late rooms. They criticised late rooms saying they only had one room left and we shouldnt really have it, but they honoured the agreement and tried their best to accommodate us. The shower did not work at all (hotel warned us but no other option).Upon leaving, we were told the computer system was down and we would be forwarded the bill, and they would charge my card. they did so but charged £165 when the actual agreed rate with late rooms was £141. i now have the inconvenience of dealing with this!

We booked a triple room for 2 nights for myself and my 2 daughters. The break was as a gift to my youngest daughter who had turned 21. After booking, I contacted the hotel to see if there was any way they could arrange something as a surprise for my daughter as we were coming for a special occasion and it would be her 21st birthday as we arrived. I received an e-mail which said they don't usually provide anything complimentary in these circumstances, but as a gesture they would leave a complimentary bottle of house wine in the room. When we arrived I was a little disappointed in the standard of the room; it overlooked the coach car park (which meant it was quite noisy) and everything looked a little tired. The single bed was very creaky as I sat on it and the wallpaper was peeling away from the wall under the window. The room was quite small for 3 adults to share and some of the spotlights were flickering so we left them off. The kettle leaked quite badly as it was boiling and so we only use that once. The bathroom, although clean was in need of some improvement; the sealer around the bath was very discoloured and the mirror looked old and water-damaged.My daughter wanted us to have a good time and so I didn't make a fuss; it would have spoiled our break but I was disappointed that I had made it clear why we were coming to the hotel and not much effort had been made for us. We opened the wine but couldn't drink it; it smelled quite bad and tasted dreadful - this made us laugh and we made light of it, but I was tryinng my best not to let all this upset me - I'd deliberately paid the going rate for a 4 star hotel to make my daughter's birthday more special but I was expecting more than that for the cost.We had a great stay; the other guests at the hotel made our stay very enjoyable. We were in the bar until the early hours on both nights and the barman (Mike Wood) was particularly pleasant and helpful. However, we must have increased takings considerably as we were pay

Well Done To Ramada ChesterVery professional staff and I have stayed there before. Being a smoker I require a hotel that accommodates me as I spend a lot of time working in my room. There is a decent bar and not one of the sterile hotel types found in other places but if you do want to go out taxis are quick and cheap or a brisk walk takes you into the centre of Chester.

DisappointingThe staff were friendly and helpful. There was no power in the room I was allocated but the receptionist was good and moved me to another. The rooms were clean but walls very thin so you could hear everything (yes everything) going on next door and in corridor which was quite busy till late. Breakfast was not good, standard buffet, the eggs had gone rubbery cos they'd been standing too long. Didn't get to use the pool as they didn't open till 9am on a Sunday, I think they opened it earlier on other days.

Not made to feel welcomeWe were a Hen Party of 10 people. I appreciate hotels don't particularly like hen groups, but we were not made to feel welcome. Some of the reception staff seemed 'pained' to even talk to us. Also the hotel tried to charge us £30 more per room than was on my confirmation. It was a good job I had had it with me. Also, I paid in cash, I counted the cash in front of the receptionist and then she counted. Then she gave it to another receptionist who took it out of my view and then came back saying it was £10 short. I am not suggesting they took the money from it, but the fact they took it out of my sight before claiming it was short was not pleasing. The hotel was ridiculously hot and it wasn't even a hot day. However the place was clean and the rooms were fine (although there was no fridge). I would stay again, but only on business.

Disappointing and poor valueVery small room, which became very bright early in the morning since the curtains weren't the best. Called reception twice for an iron which arrived broken an hour later; the replacement didn't turn up. Ultimately I ended up grumpy the following day :(

Weekend away at Ramada ChesterI was very upset to see our family room that we checked into on the Friday night. The room was very different to the photo's I had seen when making the booking. We had been given a room for 2 people, when I had booked a family room for 3. We only had 2 glasses, 2 mugs, 1 double bed & one pull out sofa bed which was like sleeping on a folded up campbed. We requested a move but unfortunatly the hotel was booked up. The following day the very friendly staff gave us a family room.

A functional hotel but a bit tired.Arrived at 14:30 but room wasn’t ready, so given another room after a 15min wait. Rooms are a bit stuffy with no air conditioning and could not leave the windows open as on the ground floor. No fridge in the room and nowhere to unpack, not a single drawer or wardrobe! (No wonder an ironing board and iron are provided). Still, friendly staff, good breakfast and convenient location for us. We were put off having dinner by the high prices.
