It was right off a main hwy and easy to spot and get too. Nice staff. No complaints!

Dust and strange odors. It is going to be a nice hotel after all the construction is complete. The odors of paint and sanding of the walls were a bit much, not to mention the dust from the sanding. Other than that it was a decent stay.
Date of Stay:
June, 2008
We booked two rooms and when we got to one there was already someone in it. There were some dirty old ear plugs that were hanging on a string in our bathroom. The trash cans and ice buckets were missing bags. Wet paint signs all over. Over all it just did not seem as clean as what I would expect from a Ramada. The breakfast was wonderful however and is what saved it. There was plenty for food with lots of options and they kept it full.

Ramada Plaza Charleston in WV was a nice place to stay overall. The breakfast was satisfactory. Eventhough the hotel was under renovation, I found the hotel lobby (with exception to the carpeted areas -especially the hallways) to be clean and the guest room was very clean with nice amenities. The only problem I had was the room did smell like smoke eventhough we requested a non-smoking room. The location was great and the staff was very friendly and provided great service.

The facilities was very nice. The room was dirty and the beds unmade. Beds were unmade. It was obvious the room had not been cleaned. We went back to the desk and were given keys to a different room. There was no apology.

Hotel has great potential...but not there yet!! Free continental breakfast was great! But room smelled of disinfectant and was not terribly clean. Great rate for seniors! Hotel is tolerable if you are just passing through! But not a three star!!!

Beautiful holiday decorations. Construction going on, our room was not redone yet and looked like it might be next for re-decoration. Foyer reception very nice, pool area closed for renovations, would have loved to use pool, elevator and hallway obviously dirt from construction, room obviously next in line for renovation.

Requested a non-smoking room and was given a smoking room upon check-in. They said ""There are no guarantees"". Room and building were filthy. Refused to switch me to a non-smoking room and put an ozone machine in my room. Supposed to be in there for an hour but three hours later was still there. Warning signs on the door saying it was dangerous and not to enter. Had to find someone to remove it and were still nervous that the room was dangerous to our baby. Employees were rude and not helpful. Breakfast was ok but most guests were complaining about the food along with the hotel experience.

It has impressive lobby. The midnight freight trains - there was a freight every hour or two coming by. Nice hotel in an industrial neighborhood - the only food is a Mexican restaurant that is not too good - there is a rail yard behind that has frequent rail traffic.

February, 2007
The hotel was undergoing a complete renovation. The hallways were dirty, and the place had chemical/dry wall smells. Then I was told I would only get a 50% refund because I could not stand to stay there. It was awful.

The pool was fabulous! Indoor with lots of greenery. It felt like it was still in the middle of a remodel. Tile not quite finished. The room was comfortable and clean.

they never mentioned that is one block from train tracks, also the breakfast is free, because no one would spend money on it. bathrooms not cleaned,we were given dirty coffee mugs 2 days in a row.4 blocks from dow chemical plant.

Great free morning breakfast buffet. Mix up with rooms and currently under remodeling.
Date of Stay:

The hot breakfast was very good with a good variety of food choices. It's no where near restaurants to eat in or order out. Overall our stay was comfortable and relaxing, very quiet and met our needs. They should build a restaurant in the hotel since there are none nearby.
Date of Stay:
August, 2008
Location. Old, dirty. We had a view out our window of the hotel office, may be 10 feet away; so at least we didn't have the sun shining in. There was dust in the corners and on the bathroom fan vent. Breakfast was not bad - homemade waffles, cereal, juice (bonus points for having grape).
Date of Stay:
July, 2008
Ramada welcomed us with open arms. The breakfast was great! Our room needed a little sprucing up. It met our expectations.
Date of Stay:

The staff was friendly. The hotel is very dated and run down, the pool and hot tub were dirty. Until this hotel is remolded, I wouldn't go back.
Date of Stay:

The maids were finally and the desk clerk. This is a big hotel very dirty and not family friendly.
Date of Stay:
June, 2008
Price okay and convenient. General area of hotel not that great. I guess staying in Charleston itself (vs. suburbs) lends itself to concerns on area. But not a location I would stay at again.
Date of Stay:
June, 2008
Everything. Nothing but teenagers running the second shift, issue after issue unresolved. Stock response was "it is hotel policy."
