Thoughtful serviceOn arrival there was a rather noisy group of young men taking some time to book in. Without asking we were upgraded to another room that took us away from our original room near the young men.

Ideally situated within the city centre and just a short walk to the waterfront area. the staff were very helpful and comprehensive maps to the city centre were freely available. The room was of a good size, clean, quiet and stylishly decorated. The breakfast was fairly pricey so we declined this and ate at at one of the waterfront cafes. We used the pool, which was smallish but clean, and we had it to ourselves. The pool was accessed through the gym, which appeared crammed into a corridor-like room. Overall we enjoyed our stay here, have no complaints and would use the hotel again.

Not very imressedThe room was tiny and the shower is more of a drizzle, only one big towel in the room for a couple (who's got the time when you're rushing around in the morning to ring up for another?), breakfast ok but not brilliant. All in all a bit dissapointing for the money, you seem to pay a premium for the pool / sauna so unless you're definately going to use it I'd look elsewhere.

Below AverageThe room was generally ok, however the mattress was awful (it felt like a water bed!), and the sheets were unclean (hairs and spots of blood). We had room service which was fine, food ok, and promptly delivered. We also watched a movie which was fine too. Breakfast was also disappointing, the cooked breakfast (the highlight of most hotel stays) was very tired looking - dry and unappealing. Didn't risk it and stuck to cereal and toast.

Hotel staff were friendly accomodated us with a quiet room slept well and facilities were good. Bar meals were expensive .Did not get a chance to experience the restaurant. Would definitely use hotel again.

Good hotel, good access to the city, shame about the gymA pleasant hotel with clean rooms with decent aircon. The breakfast is reasonable, although they did keep running out of hot food – not much good if you’re in a hurry. Parking was plentiful when I stayed and reasonable at £5.00 per day. The only down side is the very small gym. Only two treadmills and one has been broken for 6 months. Mr Seb Coe really should buy a new one!

Better hotels in BristolDidn't have my reservation,luckily had a room but not the type of room I booked ,but still charged the same price for an inferior room..hotel just looks grubby and in dire need of a lick of paint...girl at reception less than helpful although think this was just her,as the elder chap was very friendly and helpful

Busy at weekendsWhen we were checking in on the Saturday afternoon there were large groups of males seemingly on stag nights or rugby tours either checking in or sitting in the bar area. It was so noisy and rowdy that it proved very difficult to hear the check in staff. At that point I regretted booking this hotel but to be fair once they'd all gone their separate ways the room was very quiet and we didn't hear any noise at night

Not a 4 star hotelThe room was clean and tidy but much smaller then what I expected for this type of hotel. In fact the room wasn't much different to a travel lodge and the bathroom was even smaller in relation to other hotels of a simliar grading.We used the leisure facilities and again these were very disappointing; the changing room was less than pleasant, very small could not accomodate more than three people changing at one time and it just looked very tired and in need of updating. What was also very strange that to get the pool you had to walk through the gym which I felt was quite embarrasing.Breakfast was ok but some of the food when empty was not replaced very quickly.Location was good for town centre, pubs and restuarants.Unfortunately I didn't feel that this hotel was value for money and really should be downgraded to a 3* hotel.

The breakfast was awful the scrambled egg a solid block and the fried eggs could have been used as frisbees. All the food looked as if it had been left out for hours and this was at 7:30. Reasonable value for accomodation but go down the road for breakfast.

Terrible - missed wake up callI booked a wake up call at 7.00 - they failed to programe the system and I missed my train back to London. Still waiting for them to reimburse me for the train fare I then incurred to get home two hours late. Not acceptable for a 4 star hotel.
