Ramada Encore YorkI was charged £5 more when booking in to the hotel than specified in laterooms site.I found the hotel noisy both externally from the street and the sound insulation between adjacent rooms was very poor. The bed was not at all comfy and the aircon didn't work! The wardrobe consisted of two pegs on the wall near the door! The good points were the reception staff who were helpful and welcoming.

Ramada Encore, York is a modern and very well situated hotel. It is in the very centre of York within easy walking distance of many places. The hotel is clean, the service is good and the staff were friendly. I have stayed here on many occasions and will do so again when I book for York. :o)

Not quite a family room!Despite checking with the hotel the day before, no one told me the sleeping accomodation for the two children was a double sofa, which had to be padded at the side to prevent the little one falling into the space. The children coped but it was difficult for them to share, I expected seperate beds for them. Also room very small, miniscule when beds down and no drawers to put clothes in, just hanging space.

Hotel was being refurbished and having air conditioning put in all rooms while I was there. The location and facilities were good.

Very good location in York city center. Hotel did not provide parking and discount parking fees.

Clean and perfectly functional with an excellent City Centre location, but the facilities were extremely basic and did not stand up well even in comparison to Travelodges and Premier Inns (which are on the whole in a cheaper price range). I would stay there again but only if a suitable advance cheap offer came up. The walk-in rate would simply not be value for money.

The location is very convenient, close to station and attractions (all in walking distance). Continental breakfast is superb! It is a little noisy at Thursday night with sounds from the street. Wednesday night is all right.

good central locationWe enjoyed our recent stay as the hotel is in a central location, so you could get to all the attractions easily on foot. Just a short walk down the road was the river walk which was very pleasant. The only downside was the lack of space to put your clothes. Lovely modern bathroom and our room was at the back which was lovely and quiet. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to other people.

For a nights stop over well situated within the walls, very friendly staff throughout the hotel. They stored our bag for a day so we could sight see without baggage on the day we checked out, that gesture was very welcome.

Friday Night in YorkMy husband and I stayed at this hotel on Friday 5th June 2009. We were attending a Katherine Jenkins charity concert at York Minster and thought it would be nice to stay over until the Saturday. We were welcomed by a very pleasant man on reception who was very helpful and attentive. The Ramada Encore is a simple budget type of hotel, but perfectly adequate for our stay. The room was a bit sparse but perfectly clean and there was everything that we needed in there. We thought it might be a bit noisy during the night as it is quite central for bars etc, but this wasn't a problem at all. After the concert we had a couple of drinks in the coffee / bar area. We thought it was a bit impersonal and not cosy in there and think that this could be improved somewhat. In the bar there were snacks such as crisps, pringles, muffins, sweets and we would have appreciated a sandwich or pasty of something savoury. There is no restaurant or room service. Our room included continental breakfast which was very nice with a good selection of cereals, fruit etc to suit most people. This was served in the breakfast room which is on the first floor and was nice and clean, light and airy. In conclusion, this is a very good budget type hotel in a perfect location in the centre of York. There are plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes surrounding the hotel for anyone who is staying longer than overnight. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely use this hotel again.

A great hotel only 10 mins from railway station. Very clean and comfortable. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Great location only 5 mins to York center. Have stayed here numerous times and standard has always been very high. Wouldn't hesitate to reccomend the Ramada Encore to anyone,

Cheap and cheerful - no frillsWell positioned near the centre of York and a good value for money hotel. Bar is disappointing and the cooked breakfast wasnt worth the upgrade price but hey, we paid £145 for a 2 nights stay, and one of those was the night before York races. If you dont intend spending too much time in your hotel room (and why would you in York?) then this will do just fine. Just dont expect too many frills.

Good LocationThis hotel has a great location, a couple of minutes stroll from the train staion and central york. On arrival we were greeted (or not) by a rather stern receptionist who frowned upon my request for a travel cot saying, \"We have a lot of families staying this weekend so we may not have any\". The room was ok but not much more. The sofa bed was very uncomfortable fortunately they provided us with a travel cot for my daughter so it was not needed in the end. The wet room was modern but a bath in a family room would have been nice. The lady who ran the breakfast was lovely and very accomodating of my 1 year old. She brought a baby cup for my daughter and some cordial as I had forgotten her cup. She also offered her some hot food evne though we hadn't paid extra for the cooked breakfast on the first day. However we did on the second and it was lovely the only complaint was that the sausages weren't very good quality. We were on the quieter side of the hotel which was great however the room was so uncomforatbly hot that it was very hard to sleep. Even with the air con on all night set at the lowest and the window open it was a very hard nights sleep.Overall I think you are paying for the location with this hotel. The price was pretty high considering the standard of the room.
