Good value for moneyNice little hotel and good value for money. Receptionist was friendly and efficient, even if she was eating at the front desk when we arrived. Room was nice for the money we paid, but could have been cleaned better, as it had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Other than that would stay there again if I was in the area, as it was the cheapest!

Good value stayHotel is ideally located for Stevenage Old Town, with plentiful free parking. Service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff. The room was a little outdated but it was clean and perfectly functional, with a good TV with all freeview channels. Excellent value with the £50 room-only special offer.

ExpensiveExpensive rooms. quality of furniture and linen is poor, very tired Hotel. prices should be reduced. Although when i arrived i had an awful room! but the staff were good and they swiftly moved me to a better(not brilliant) room.

Although I've stayed in Stevenage many times, this was the first time in Old Stevenage. The hotel provides good value for money and is set in a small town with good local facilities. The restaurant provides a broad choice of menu and food was very good.

Excellent as always. The only inconvenience is no food after 10pm, not even sandwiches which meant hunting for a snack late at night. Otherwise excellent as always

I was a bit surprised, having booked a twin room to find two 3ft divans put together with a large sheet and very large duvet. It would have been good to have had both beds and duvets separated, the bottom sheet was too small and therefore became uncomfortable, I would also have welcomed a clean pillow case the second morning. The breakfast service, dining room and food was excellent.

All the Bathrooms need updating, they are not very pleasent to spend any time in. Old Baths and sinks with crackds ina and mould on the tiles...

Very friendly and helpful Barman, bar meals were very tasty and good value. A problem with the room was very quickly sorted out by the night porter. The room was comfortable and a decent size. The decor was a bit dated for my taste.

I have stayed here before but for anyone who hasnt then I would say the staff are friendly the rooms are good and the food when i had eaten was very good too, the price is fair and it has everything you need also as a business traveller they have just started a points scheme so you can benefit from this too.

I found out that there was a fairground in front of the hotel for a couple of nights - my sides nearly burst when all the roads to the hotel were closed off and guarded by caravans who would not or could not tell me how to get into the hotel - worse still neither could the receptionist when I rang the hotel. After a 45 minute detour of Stevenage I diid get to the hotel and was given a room with full access to all the fun of the fair - eventually I did get a quieter room and the noise did stop at 12.00 am - ANgry / Tired or both

Didn't know that the hotel had rooms for the disabled, one of our party would have benefited from this -Some uneven stairs & no lift. food good, staff friendly

We found the hotel easily, thanks to the directions given. The food was OK, but there was lttle choice of bread rolls(non-existant), croissants and jams for the continental breakfast, although the waitress did fetch me a different type of jam when requested. Although the English breakfast's components tasted good, the fried eggs were a little greasy. The snacks we had on arrival, however, were delicious. We also felt that the breakfasts were rather expensive. However, on the whole, we really enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was easy to find and there was good car parking available. Only problem is loading and unloading as here is only one way in and out of the hotel so if you have loads of stuff then you need to unload first at reception. hotel is well located and there are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. Short walk to the train station for frequent trains in to London.

My Husband booked the hotel for our tenth wedding anniversary as a surprise. The room we stayed in was really nice and we both found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We booked a meal in the restaurant for the evening and the staff found it no problem to change the time of this at the last minute for us. We found out the next morning that the restaurant actually closed around 9.30pm but because we had changed the time of our meal we were still there at nearly 10.30pm yet the waiting staff were still polite and friendly - even though they probably wanted to finish work! We felt very comfortable and the food itself in my opinion was of a very high standard. Overall my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cromwell Hotel and was a really nice treat for our anniversary.

I stay in about 100 hotels a year and this must raise amongst the worst, if not the worst, hotels I have ever stayed in. £80 for a room with no ensuite facilities, decor was late 60s (I suspect that was the last time it was touched). I counted myself lucky the TV was actually colour but was old and picture quality extremely poor. I had been sat at breakfast for 7 mins before the staff put down their papers to serve me. The only thing I could say I enjoyed about the hotel was walking out knowing I would never have to return.
