Value for money and a good clean hotel. Mattress badly needed changing but otherwise room was fine. Overlooked car park so not too noisy. Would recommend as budget accommodation

Nice room, poor bathroomAnother stay, another room! This one, to the rear, was small but perfectly formed! A nice double bed, clean and tidy room. Such a shame the bathroom was so poor. The shower was half way up the wall, meaning you had to hold it or kneel to get a shower. The toilet and sink were out of the 1970s and the floor boards creaked alarmingly. It's such a shame that this hotel cant seem to get the whole package together in 1 room! Maybe they do have a room that is quiet, with a nice bedroom and bathroom... Time will tell! That said, i will continue to stay here as its so very convenient for my office, and has good pubs (the moderation) and restaurants near by. Staff are great, car park is a squeeze at times but at least it has one and the Thames to the rear is lovely in summer!

Only the shower disappointedAnother nice room, this time on the top floor at the rear, so nice and quiet.Room small but fine. Bathroom was smart but electric shower was a pain. On 'High' it was constantly too hot (from skin blistering to mild scalding) and on medium it was a very fine line between freezing and hot! Seems a shame when the bathroom had been re-fitted so well that the shower was so poor. The rest of the rooms i've stayed in had very good showers (most on mixer valves rather than electric) but this one (RM15) was almost un-usable. Apart from this, the stay was fine and good value for the area at the £54 rate.

Not bad for the moneyI have been staying at Rainbows for a month or two now, a night or two each week. Its very convienient for my office, and has parking to the rear which in this part of reading is a huge bonus! The rooms are ok, a little dated, but comfortable. The rooms at the front can be a little noisy in the morning, the rear rooms are much better, some even have river views!(just!) Food in the adjoining 'Papa Gee's' is good, but breakfast finishes at 9am, shame its not 9.30 for us lazy ones...WiFi is available in some rooms, if you can't get it there is a seating area in reception where coverage is good. Reception staff are always friendly and there are a few good restaurants nearby or over the bridge in caversham. (La Fontana and the Nepalese oposite are both good)If you can get the cheaper rate, £54 for a double, then Rainbows represents good value for the area. Any higher and you may be left wondering what you are paying for.Overall - Good

stayed just one night en routefrom cornwall to LondonBedroom was a reasonable size however at the top of 4 flights of narrow stairs bought an evening meal in the depressing and empty Italian restaurant attached to hotel

Bathroom was not clean. Very cold in the annex room as heating turned off. Itchy bed!

Must be the noisiest (traffi/road) hotel I have stayed in, would have been quieter staying in a bus shelter. The bed was hard and room a reasonable size, with what looked like a new bathroom.

Oh to find a good hotel in Reading!! On arrival the first thing I asked was whether the room was en suite. I was told no. I went upstairs and searched for a loo only to return to my room and spot a door where there WAS an en suite loo!!!The room was small and rather \"bunkhousey\", while the location was good for central Reading. There was a whole bunch of B&Bs along that same road and I bet one of those is better than this one. The search for a good hotel in Reading goes on.....

Rather garish exterior was a bit off-putting on arrival, but the interior was clean and the room comfortable. Having paid for my room by credit card I was rather surprised that I couldn't use it in the restaurant. As I'd eaten before I discovered this it was lucky I had enough cash on me. Nice and handy for the leisure centre (10 minutes walk) where I was attending a show.

Excellent value for money at £45 for the night. Ideal location for the railway station. Good size for a single room, immaculte ensuite. Very friendly staff.

Food in Papa Gees was very poor. Salmon & accompaniments appeared to have been heated up using microwave. Car parking poor (space for c. 6 cars).

Room 15 which I was in was fine, dated decor similar to a run down Marriot hotel but half the price. Sheets and towels were clean, bathroom was spotless. Free tea making facilities in room with biscuits topped up everyday. Reception was efficient both at check in and check out. Reading station 10 minute walk.

Hotel was of adequate standard. Negative comments - Internet facility was inadequate. Total of only 5 TV channels was not impressive. No air-condition. Missing light-bulb above desk, making evening work difficult. No minibar.Positive comments - Situated off-centre but within easy walking distance to town centre and railway/bus station.
