At $123.00 per night, this was a steal. Huge room, lovely bathroom with rainshower, quiet, elegant -- my friends who stayed at the Marriott down the road for twice the price were quite envious! Right behind the John Hancock Center, it was two blocks from Michigan Avenue, in a quiet area with plenty of restaurants, shops, and the Magnificent Mile within easy reach. I will definitely stay at the Raffaello when I next travel to Chicago.

Location is close to el train and downtown shopping. Stains, burns, and chipped paint these little things could have made it look better. It was a quaint hotel. Considering the location the price was fair. It would have been nice to see fewer cosmetic flaws in floors, walls, decor, etc. If you are not looking to spend a lot of time in your hotel room this will suffice. If you are looking to spend a lot of time in your hotel room it might be worth a little more money to stay somewhere nicer.

The front desk staff, doormen, and maid service was very pleasant. The hotel itself was not the 4 star quality we have been used to. There were not enough aminities for a celebration atmosphere. There was no bathtub for a bubblebath for instance. The shower door was only a half door, therefore not warm and cozy and water ran onto the floor. There was very limited room service- only breakfast and pizza delivery at night. So there were no cozy nights of movies with a tempting room service menu. The movie selections were poor. There were no bellmen or luggage carts. The edge of the carpet was coming up in our room and my husband stepped on a nail. Our view was awful. We definitely did not have the luxurious 4-day stay we had planned for a 35th wedding anniversary.

My husband and I spent our 10th anniversary here, and absolutely loved it! We stayed in a deluxe suite, and it was worth every penny. The new renovations are beautiful, modern & elegant, and very relaxing! The front desk, concierge, and bell staff were all very courteous and extremely helpful. The beds were very comfortable, and the couch was great for napping. Large flat screen TVs in both rooms of the suite, and a dvd player. The alarm even had an MP3 cable so you could listen to your iPod through the alarm speakers. There was a lack of counter space in the bathroom, so make-up in the mornings was a little tricky, but the rain shower was wonderful, as were the toiletries. No matter what time we left our room for the day (even after noon), we always came back to a freshly made bed, emptied trash cans, and a restock of anything we needed. The rooftop deck was beautiful and comfortable. There's no pool, but I'm not up for swimming when the high is only low to mid 80's anyway. The hotel is located very close to many things, and a short bus or El ride to anywhere else you'd want to go. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Chicago - the Raphaello was everything we wanted!

Friendly staff. Convenient location with quiet rooms. Easy to walk to a business meeting at Hancock Center or to nearby restaurants and shopping. Business center allowed me to print out my boarding pass for free. Appreciated the efficient room service (for breakfast only) and the large, flat panel TV. Comfortable bed and clean, smoke-free room.

My room was upgrade. N/A Excellent location being only one block off Michigan Avenue, next to John Hancock Center and Water Tower Place and two blocks from Lake Michigan. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only negative thing the entire weekend was the fact only 1 elevator was working and that one was very slow itself.

This hotel is a very nice boutique hotel. The rooms are very nice with amenities like rain shower, LCD tv (although not one HD channel and the signal was fairly weak), robes, slippers, etc. Check-in was smooth and easy. The lobby is small and there is only one host on duty at all times. I didn't understand why there were 4 doormen and one desk attendant. The concierge was nowhere to be found. My daughter thought the hotel was haunted. If you are looking for intimate and quiet then this is the place for you. There is no restaurant or pool or much of anything to do outside your room. Basically, this is a nice hotel right off Mich Ave that you can stay to come and go from the retail shops. The hotel looks like they bought all the furniture from Ikea. This isn't bad as that furniture can be extremely stylish yet functional. Put Ikea next to Snaidero and good luck telling them apart. Thing is, why not put the bulk of the money into an extremely comfortable bed? I don't get it. The bed is the most important thing! Raffaello sure missed the boat in the bed department. Overall I liked it. I probably won't stay again considering other comparative options that will get you much greater comfort and expanded amenities for the money (I paid $*** for my family of four).

I love this location. Everything in the hotel is redone and staff is excellent. If you need to be downtown in the heart of everything, this is the best value. Our room had a nice layout with a desk, large bathroom, and plasma tv. We were pampered with robes and slippers and great beds and linens. Just park your car and leave it. We were down for the night and the next day and even in the cold were able to walk to everything from great places to eat and to shop on Michigan avenue. I would recommend this hotel for a quick getaway or for when you need to be downtown for meetings, etc. without the drive.

Wonderful old style European hotel in excellent area,close to everything. Staff very attentive,paid get attention to details.The rooms have all been remodled and now the Raffello is more of a boutique style hotel. Great beds, linens and wonderful bathroom--very soothing and peaceful. Bedrooms not large but very comfortable and more than sufficient.I look forward to my next visit there and I have already recommended the hotel to all my friends. You honestly could not get a better location in Chicago. I was really surprised at how quiet it was despite being in the centre of everything. Well done.

We enjoyed the air conditioning on our visit, since it was 104 degrees when we arrived in Chicago. The baseboards around the bottom of the walls in the room could stand a thourough washing. The personnel were friendly, the lobby and front desk area were clean, but the room itself could of been cleaner.

I am from the west suburbs and wanted to spend a night downtown with my wife and daughter to see the holiday lighting of Michigan Ave. Doorman and desk staff are very warm. Historic Chicago architecture with Mediterranean ambiance is terrific. Stayed on the 15th floor with a nice view of the city. Clean room, comfortable bed, pillows and linens, quality bathroom amenities, great price. I will be back. Soon-to-be restaurant will be huge plus. Oh, and you can't beat the location much less the price.

my daughter and her family in the neighborood in a small apartment, therefore i have to stay in a nearby hotel when i visit. this hotel is in the same block as my daughter's apt bldg (i am in good shape for 73, but i don't like to walk far when its cold) and this hotel has exactly what i need: comfortable bed, coffee maker, microwave oven and easy to use flatscreen TV. the room was clean with new furnishings. my daughter didnt think i'd like the rainforest showerhead, but i did. and they do provide showercaps. i can't really comment on the service because my daughter checked me in (my room was pre-paid thorugh a discount booking website) and i never have to rely on concierges or other hotel staff for restaurants and other activities or info b/c my daughter handles that for me. i've stayed in about 3 other hotels in this area and my daughter thinks this one is the best for me because it is clean, comfortable, nicely-furnished but most of all, with the coffee-maker and microwave, i can easily attend to my own breakfast w/o ordering room service or going out to a restaurant

This was an excellent choice for 5 people at a very reasonable price for the perfect location. Just a block from American Girl and tons of food and shopping nearby. The hotel let us check in at 9 am! Yes 9 am even though check in wasn't until 4! We were able to shower and change and be at Oprah on time. The Concierage called cabs and made dinner reservations for us! Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

A big 2-room suite that was very well furnished and comfortable. It is a great location within walking distance to the John Hancock building and the Water Tower/pumping station which is where you get tour buses and can buy tickets to events. A minor complaint would be that you had to pay to use the computers in the business center. Also, I would have liked a free continental breakfast for the price of the room. They offer a $15 breakfast off the lobby, but I can't comment on the quality of the food since we chose not to pay that amount.

When we arrived at check in time, our room was not ready. We chose to wait in the lobby and the room was ready within 15 minutes. The staff was helpful and friendly. Parking is available around the corner for 22 a night. The room was wonderful. The king sized bed had 4 feather pillows and a down comforter. The shower has a huge "rainforest" style showerhead--very refreshing. Robes and slippers were also provided. I would definitely stay here again.

My bedroom in my house is bigger then this king size hotel room. No outlets in the TINY shower room, the nearest outlet to the shower room was 4 feet away. I say shower room because they have no tubs. Check in is at 4pm!?? No closet space, walking space and only mirror in room is located on left side of bed behind the night stand?? you have to jump on bed near pillows in order to see yourself. Parking is a block away but the garage attendents dented our rental, lost our keys, gave us the wrong car and when I told the hotel manager . His response was we will look into it and will call you. Five days later I had to call him and he stated that they only gave us credit for one day! ($22.00) I informed him we had 3 days of incidents and thats the best he can do for us, he stated that was all they could do!!??

Great location. Only valet parking and it was very pricey. Needs renovation bad Hotel has great potential, needs massive renovation, if you can overlook peeled paint broken shades on the windows outdated carpet the location makes up for everthing. No ice / vending machines, must get ice behind desk.

I spent the weekend celebrating my 50th birthday and my daughter's 26th birthday along with another daughter and friend. We had two rooms and were extremely comfortable. The decor is fresh and the rooms are perfectly cleaned. The bathrooms are beautifull, nice ceramic tiles and gorgeous granite counter tops compliment the decor. Thank you for such a beautifully restored hotel. The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and very helpful. I will return to Chicago and stay here.

After driving across the country from CA to ILL I was looking forward to a nice quiet night in a room,room service and no more driving.Even though the site of the hotel mentions their restaurant it does not exist. If I had known this I probably would not have booked this hotel. I then had to go out to obtain a meal,the last thing I wanted to do after driving so many hours.I then discovered that the phone in my room did not work. A repairman turned up,could not figure out the problem and it was not repaired during my stay.When checking out and asked if i enjoyed my stay I provided the details of my disappointment,.....there was no response.I had to use my cell phone for all calls.When Icontacted the hotel via email all they would consider offering me was a discount on my next stay. Why would i want to stay there again. I paid 100% of the fees and received 65% of the services promised.
