radstock hotelWe spent one night at the Radstock and had no complaints about either the room or the hospitality of the staff. The breakfast was excellent. The only comment I would make is that if you are considering a weekend stay be advised that the pub does have live music in the evening that gets very noisy. Wouldn't have been so bad if it had been the usual sort of pub music but we were there on the evening of a DJ competition! Painful! Also the car park at the back of the pub appeared to be the meeting place for all the teenagers in the local area and although they appeared fairly well behaved it was extremely noisy in addition to the music.

Don't go thereThis is not so much a hotel as a pub with some rooms. These can be very nice, but the Radstock isn't. The room itself was OK, and reasonably clean, although it was opposite an open cupboard with (dirty?) linen on the ground. The main problem we had with our visit was the "live" entertainment in the bar. This consisted of karaoke backing tracks, seemingly played at full volume, accompanied by an off-key singer. This went on until 11.30. Our room was immediately above the loudspeakers. How one of the guests in the bar had managed to fall asleep over his pint I don't know - we certainly had no chance of sleeping before midnight.And sleeping seems to be about the only option in Radstock. Other than the "entertainment" at the hotel, the night spots of Radstock seem to be a fish & chip shop, and a Chinese and an Indian takeaway.Minor irritations: when we arrived they had lost our reservation (and we now wish they'd never found it again); after waiting at least fifteen minutes to place our orders for breakfast we had to go and hunt behind "staff only" doors to find someone to take an interest in us.Possible saving grace: honesty? There was a visitors' comments book open at the entrance to the hotel. The final entry just said "Awful".

Large rooms, but not sure about the place...On arriving at the Radstock Hotel, I saw an old pub, that was obviously a long standing addition to the village. However on entry this was quite a different story, the pub was empty, and we felt very awkward having to sit and wait for our room. The landlady was approachable, but we felt intimidated by some of the clientele that were just arriving. After venturing to Ston Easton for a wedding, we returned at 11pm to find the place swarming with teenagers drinking outside, which was not welcoming at all, and the noise from their late night antics were heard from our bedroom until the early hours of the morning. On checking out, we returned to the car only to find it surrounded by beer cans and bottles. Pleasant.I will not be staying in this hotel again, and will look for a local B&B instead.N.B. We decided in the morning not to go down for breakfast, so therefore can't comment on the food.

The hotel is in a very quite area. Nothing to do or see apart from the 4 locals in the pub. Ok to stay if you plan to get there late and check out early. Dinner stopped early but cooked breakfast was quite nice. We had to get a takeaway and eat it in our room as there were wasn't a place to sit in and eat dinner. Not worth the money we paid and won't be staying again.

Radstock hotel isbeautiful and its hosts are wonderful and very hopitable. The only disadvantage is located a few miles away from Bath and one has to take local buses to travel to and fro Bath. With a car it is pretty reasonable. And the countryside around the hotel makes it worth the visit. It is unique in its own way different from Bath and worth the visit.

Good overall customer service, made to feel welcome. Hotel could do with a spruce up but bearing in mind the present owners had only been there for two months and have a huge job on their hands, they are going in the right direction. The room was adequate with towels changed during our stay of three nights. A nice touch was a Christmas card and box of chocolates waiting for us on arrival. Excellent value for money and the breakfasts were great. The only down side was the busy road and noise from the bar downstairs although it didn't go on too late.
