The food in the restaurant was superb. The only quibble I have is that the 'special set price' evenings were too expensive.The tropical gardens were beautiful where you could find resident 50 year old tortoise 'Columbo' and a large pond with swans,ducks and fish, and also an aviary.If you like to be in the centre of the tourist area close to all the nightlife then this isn't the place for you, but if you want peace & tranquility, within a short taxi ride(approx 5€) or the courtesy bus which runs to/from the centre of Funchal 4 times a day then it's perfect.

Only critissim is that the beds and pillows were rock hard which was not very comfortable. I was unwell while I was there and the hotel staff were brilliant could not praise them enough.
