Dining:
The restaurant is a large, comfy room decorated in light colours and overlooking the river. The restaurant has a good reputation for its carvery dinners and has a very informal and relaxed atmosphere.

superb getaway!Great location, friendly staff and very child friendly! Only issue was the rather dated and strangely torn curtains that let all the sun light in in the morning! Would still book again.

The Queens Hotel was an excellent venue. The staff were extremely helpful, going that 'extra mile' to ensure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. The breakfast buffet was very good. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room 51 shower riser rail had come away from its top fixingBreakfast in this hotel is good, but cramped. There are a lot of people but not enough tables, so if you are a late riser you will have to sit in the lounge until your number is called. In addition, the food is all in one place, which means that there is a logjam of people trying to get cereals, drinks, hot stuff etc. Flow control could be improved.Note that this hotel is right next to the River Ouse. Therefore, you might book early enough to get a car park space, but if the Environment Agency puts out a flood warning, you will have to move the car somewhere else, OK overnight outside the hotel, but you will have to move it before 0800.

The hotel is a strange mix. The rooms are large and spacious, but the bathrooms are a bit tired. The corridors and shared areas are a bit shabby, but the breakfasts were excellent. I can't decide whether this is a luxury or budget hotel, but I enjoyed the locations and its closeness to the centre of York.

Convenient and comfortableConveniently situated with walking distance of the main attractions of central York.Friendly and helpful staff.Breakfast buffet is cramped and poorly designed - congestion could be reduced by serving hot drinks at tables.

The staff were very helpful and the service was very good. Breakfast was fresh and the kitchen staff very willing to cook fried eggs as requested.Only slight downfall was that no boxes of tissues were provided in rooms. Would stay there again and recommend to others.

Pleasant stayThe hotel was as described, and i regretted not paying for a river view. Sat Nav was useful for finding hotel. Overall good value for money especially with its position.

Room was very bright and spacious. Had to report damage to the bathroom door (looked like a previous guest had punched a hole in it). Cleanliness of bathroom was suspect - had to report a strange stain on the shower curtain which was changed same day. Also reported soap dispenser was coming away from bathroom wall but no maintenance was carried out. Staff friendly, location superb. Probably would not stop there again.

A night in YorkThe hotel is good if you need to be in the city centre. Parking is ok, on site if you book in advance, off site a couple of minuties away. The food is excellent, but the hotel rooms lack air-con / double glazing, and on very hot days its not comfortable. If you get a river view, it can be noisy from the pubs opposite into the early hours. But overall its a good quality hotel, we have stayed previously.B&D

Nice Central Hotel in YorkModern comfortable clean Hotel and reasoably priced and located in central YorkWhat we like about the Queens Hotel it was a short walking distance to the Jorvik Centre and York Minster and shopping, and our bedroom had a good view of the river which was nice. The breakfast was average would have preferred the choice of fresh fruit for the buffet breakfast but the cooked breakfast was good.

we have stayed in this hotel a couple of times, our first visit we had a room with a beautiful view over the river...not so lucky with the view this time but still happy as the rooms are good & the location is great.

Almost PerfectThe receptionist reeled off her blurb to me on arrival so fast and bland that it made no sense. It was completely apparent that she had given this same information hundreds of times. God knows what foreign travellers would have made of her. The room was a good size. It would have been perfect except, the chair seat was ripped and tatty, the bathroom extractor fan did not work so the room smelled damp on entry, the hairdryer provided was blocked and dirty and cut out due to overheating after a minutes use. There were dirty splashes on the walls and holes in the plasterwork where the curtain tie backs had been moved. All very minor, but if these simple things had been looked at, the room would have been perfect. on the plus side, there was FREE Wifi in the room, a flat screen tv with Freeview, and the buffet breakfast was FANTASTIC value. The bed was very comfy and the sheets were clean. The cleaner I spoke to in the morning was lovely friendly and chatty, much nicer than the bland receptionist.

dissapointed check in was not until 2.30pm and the fact that a fire alarm went off at 3.20am but great apart from that.

Super York HotelIdeal location with good river views secure parking , very nice double room really enjoyed the breakfast, unfortunately did`nt get the chance to try the evening menu. Most of York attractions within easy walking distance.

Location is very good, overlooking the river. Try to get rooms with river view if possible (extra £5 per night). One negative point, from some members of our party, was that some side rooms overlooked a restaurant so remember to close curtains when necessary! Breakfast is adequate considering the reasonable price of this hotel. Car parking is available on site but must be pre-booked. We would definitely stay there again.
