Description:
Maybe it’s the warm lakeland welcome, or perhaps the curiously eclectic mix of ancient, Cumbrian and contemporary. It probably has a lot to do with the food (and the beer). Or perhaps its location, tucked away in the Troutbeck Valley, just 3 miles from Windermere. Whatever it is that makes The Queen’s Head Hotel in Cumbria’s lakeland such a favourite with the regulars, you need to come and experience it firsthand. Rooms with fabulous four-posters and quirky walls from another century; textures and colours to relax the senses all combine to provide a welcome sanctuary, whether in the original Coaching Inn or the beautifully transformed ancient barn opposite. Don’t go home...sleep over! Make no mistake, Troutbeck is real Lakeland. This undulating valley, riddled with a maze of footpaths linking ancient hamlets at times appears to lure you into their gardens. Occasionally, Windermere Lake comes into view a few miles down the valley, tempting you away from the swathe of fell tops above. The best advice is to keep returning to ensure you haven’t missed anything. At least this way, you can eat your way through The Queen’s Head menu and stay in another gloriously comfortable room!
Overview:
At the Queen’s Head in Troutbeck you’ll find food, beers and rooms fit for royalty, without the performance. This idyllic 17th century Coaching Inn has an original four poster bar.

A bit pricey for an average - good stayFood wasnt as good as last time I was here a few years back - it used to be amazing - whereas this time it was just good to average. A desert that cost six pounds should be brilliant, not a average, I had much better for much less. Lamb shank dish was huge but very little flavour, boyfriend ordered the steak pudding which should have come with rosemary roast potatoes but for some reason turn up with 3 very small boiled potatoes.Hotel room was nice but on the small side, nice decor though. Shower in bathroom was really poor - just a small trickle. Staff were very pleasant and breakfast was nice.Overall nice staff just over priced for what you got - huge shame its not as good as it used to be.

Great Food, Beer and Rooms...Exactly what a pub should be, friendly, warm with all the nooks and crannies of a traditional inn! Serving brilliantly cooked pub grub with a wide range of good beer and a great wine list!

This hotel provided a perfect base for visiting the Lakes, many of which were only a short drive away. Our bedroom, in the annex, was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. The food was excellent and the staff were very efficient, friendly and attentive - we were very impressed with the standard of service we experienced.

what a beautiful place to stay! overlooking the fells in Troutbeck it is an idyllic setting.we stayed in a superior double (which is three down from the top notch rooms) and it was absolutely wonderful. We wiill definately go again and upgrade the room next time, as its not really that much more cost. The breakfast was a little disappointing I have to say, as if you don't book B&B it would cost £9.95 and its definately not worth that amount of money. However overall it was lovely, the room had lovely finishing touches and everyone was really freindly.

We had a fabulous time. The staff were so friendly...they couldn't do enough for you (although not too in your face, if you get what I mean). I have recommended thidshotel to a friend who is going for 5 nights (we only stayed 2 nights) so I am really jealous. We can't wait to go back again. Really cosy and quirky :-)

Excellant menu with a good choice of wines, including good value house wines. Staff pleasant, polite and helpful. Hotel easy to find from Windemere.

A really enjoyable stay in a great location.Room was of a good standard and size, only disappointment was that it was directly above the kitchen, with noticeable noise during dinner service. Customer service was good, only thing lacking was option of room service. The highlight of the stay was the amazing food, both dinner (including the Stinking Bishop cheese!) and breakfast. Will certainly recommend to others.

Very clean comfortable room. Food was wonderful and of a high standard. One member of staff was quite rude and this did put a dampner on what could have been a lovely stay.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the spanish waitress was particularly delightful .The room was of a good standar. The one done side was that they did not accept the American Express card however was not a major problem.Would be nice to have a pasta dish on the menu. Will visit again for a longer stay.
