the room and hotel are slightly run down. but location is not bad and the pricing made it worth it. the hotel truly needs some renovation.

This hotel was very dirty! The rooms were very small and very old! Our shower was about the size of a cruise ship cabin shower. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything going on in the next room. The elevators were very slow and we often took the stairs. The pool also closed everyday at 6pm. You also had to pay 15.00 a day to park there.

A very old Hotel, in good, clean condition, service was excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The meals in the restaurant were good and staff were very obliging.

Excellent location and low price make up for rather bland accomodations. If you plan your vacation around what a hotel has to offer, don't stay here. But, if you just need a place to sleep and won't be in your room that much, this is a good deal.

It was funkier than I thought it would be. The beds sagged in the middle. There was no view from the second floor. They really need to put some money into renovation: new carpet and paint would be a great start, and some basic maintenance would make it nicer.

Good value and location for Waikiki. But you get what you pay for. Leave the airconditioner on to block out the noise and you should sleep ok!

When I first booked this hotel it was had a 3 star rating. Now its a 2. It needs to be 1.5. Dirty room, weak A/C, no free continental breakfast, for muffins and coffee, no free parking for guest, not even discounted parking. flat rate. No laundry service, just 2 washing machines and Dryers for the enitre 14 or 15 floors. Positives are, right next to Waikiki, I parked my rental car on the street for .25cents an hour, waikiki is great for people who like crowds of tourist and party people. Which I am one of. But be careful, lots and lots of homeless people crowd the hotel area.

had a fantastic stay here. as is already stated.in other reviews a bit old but that is part of it;s charm ...great staff. friendly, helpful. other Waikiki hotels. only slight problem was slow elevators but you are on Hawaiian time plus you get to start conversations with people while waiting. Mahalo Kapiolani staff

Overall, great place to stay. Clean and tidy. Central to pretty much everything--the beach, shopping, restaurants, the bus stop, etc. There are movies on the beach right down the street and the shell is right across the street so if you don't have tickets to the concert, you can listen to the music at the park which is just outside the arena.

This hotel was good in comparison to the other hotels we stayed at while traveling throughout the different Hawaiian islands. It has a good location and was really convenient for us to walk outside and down the block to get to Waikiki beach or down the street to the beach front shops and restaurants. The only complain I have is that upon arrival, the front desk staff was really unfriendly and rude. Our room looked old, and the sheets looked like they've seen better days. Our air conditioner leaked out onto the lanai and our TV and refrigerator were only usable after a little fiddling with the switches in the back. Overall, this was a good hotel if you're not too picky about the hotel and room, and don't plan to spend much time there.

I would not recommend this hotel. It was dirty and outdated. Our room was hot and cramped. The bathroom was dirty and dingy. Disgusting. This was a terrible experience and way too expensive a hotel for the accommodations.

The hotel was in a great part of the city. It was very close to the beach and shopping areas. The hotel itself was very clean and nice. The rooms was small and the shower/bath was horrible. I am 6ft tall and the shower head came up to my neck.

Good place to stay for a budget traveler, definitely not a luxury hotel. Bathroom in my room was recently updated and A/C worked great.

Not a bad place. I'll possibly stay there again. I'm sure there are better 2 star hotels and probably worse ones also. So whatever it works, it's clean, cheap and quiet at night.
