We arrived late, but called ahead to inform the hotel. The room we were assigned was dingy and old. The bathroom was small, no counter space, plumbing was inadequate, tub did not drain, sink faucets were missing caps--showed rusty screws, the closet had holes in the wall, wires were hanging down from the ceiling. Since the bathtub would not drain we refused to shower in that room. We moved to another room which was a big improvement over the first room, but not up to standards we have become accustomed to at Quality Inns. We seek out Quality Inns because they always offer a standard of cleanliness and amenities which we enjoy. We stay at perhaps two or three per year. Based on the two rooms we occupied, this hotel did not come close to meeting these standards Regarding breakfast: on the first day, the coffee was weak and waffles could have been much crispier, and it was pretty crowded, but we thought it was okay. On the second day, it was very crowded, they ran out of milk for cereal, cereal was spilling out of the container, could not find a place to sit and could not find anyone to make things right. It was so chaotic that we left and ate breakfast downtown in a restaurant. You could not pay us to stay at this facility again. In our estimation it does not deserve the Quality Inn name!!!

My family and I stayed one night in this hotel. The room was filthy. The beds were hard and uncomfortable. The room smelled so bad and moist after the weird air freshener dissipated. My daughter who has allergies kept coughing all night that we had to cancel our trip and go back home because of her condition. On top of that, the manager refused in a very mean way to refund the second night that we had booked but never used due to our leaving early. She claimed that the policy is that we should have cancelled within 72 hours. How can you cancel a reservation 72 hours earlier if you have already stayed a night??? does not make sense. Any way, I would absolutely not recommend this hotel, especially if you have family and are concerned for your kids health.

I arrived in Mackinaw City and went to check into the Quality Inn & Suites Beachfront Hotel. I was given room 108. To my surprise, room 108 was not part of the main hotel building, but rather in a section of a refurbished motel on the property. The motel portion was not described, pictured or in any way advertised on the website provided. I had not booked a motel room, but rather a hotel room. I opened the door to an overwhelming foul odor of must and mildew. I took stepped foot on the wooden floor boards covered in musty old carpet and knew that there was no possible way I could stay in that room. I went back to speak to the hotel manager who said that they had no rooms left in the main hotel building and that I would have to stay in my current room. I explained that I found the rooms unsuitable and asked for a different room or a refund, he refused. I proceeded to contact Orbitz who tried to negotiate a refund with the hotel twice, the second time we did a conference call with the hotel manager who still refused to change my room or give me a refund. The Orbitz representative told me that they could not issue me a refund until the Quality Inn refunded them the money first. I contacted the Choice Hotels and explained the situation, I asked could they then put me in another room or another hotel in the Choice Chain in Mackinaw City. The customer representative tried to negotiate with the local hotel unsuccessfully. By this time it was 1130pm, feeling extremely frustrated, I checked into the Ramada Inn next door. the next day,in a last ditch effort I phone backed and spoke to the manager again in effort to be reimbursed for the room and services that were falsely advertised and serviced not rendered. He had not changed his position. I am now appealing with Orbitz, Choice hotels and the owner. But I don't expect it to go anywhere. Also of note, all of the most of the choice hotels in Mackinaw are owned by the same company (Mackinaw Waterpark Inc.), so there is no reas

This hotel has an extremely rude manager who is very prejudice. He made verbal threats after we asked to have our reservation cancelled. He yelled at such a loud tone that everyone walking by in the lobby was listening and I almost called my attorney. I have never met such an unprofessional staff in all my years of traveling and have never felt so unwelcome. I would never suggest for anyone to waste their money at this motel which isn't all that nice to begin with. The pool area was not clean and it was more expensive than other nicer hotels on the strip.

Wallpaper falling off. Icky bathrooms. Mismatched and outdated everything. Beach was overgrown with grass. They didn't have our room ready, but wouldn't give us another one or our money back so we had to wait for someone to come and clean it. Stay somewhere nicer for the same price!

This Inn has a great location, but two things are evident on arrival, the beach is overgown with grass, and there are many buidlings in addition the large new buidling they advertise that are not as nice. The cleaning staff did a great job cleaning our room.
