Room was ok, view was great, bed very comfortable. The bar was very uninviting. Had the worst meal ever and would not recommend eating there at all. We complained to reception about the meal and thought they may have discounted it a bit but no discount or apology received. Hot pools were tepid at best and didn't bother to even get in. Was a bit surprised to find the advertised balcony was very narrow - we could stand on it but it wasn't wide enough for a chair, etc. Overall the hotel is looking pretty tired.

The staff were very friendly and the facilties including the spout pools were great, but the location is supreme.We were overlooking one of new Zealands premier geysers from our third floor balcony. Highlight of the trip.

what the room lacked for in style it made up for in view, what a fantastic vista we had of the Geyser at Te Puia! Rest of the place could do with a bit of a spruce up but we we happy with what we got for the excellent price we paid.

Quite far from town, around 25-30mins good walk, although the view from the room was worth the distance.

A very tired Hotel but super position to watch the Rotorua wonderland

The location is great, it is quiet but still central. The Hotel is past it's best, and in need of some major refurbishment. The view from our Room was fabulous (Geyser view). We booked a Quad room which was quite tight. No information in the room on how everything worked, where everything was or any tourist information. It was warm, clean enough and the staff were pleasant but would probably not stay there again, would look for something more modern.

We were a little disapointed as we had booked for 1 adult and two children and the room had 2 queen beds so both kids had to sleep in the same bed and at there age it wasnt really suitable .. we stayed there the week before and it was great

We stayed recently for one night to visit family. As a kiwi I was disapointed that this is the standard of some of our local accommodation in such a tourist spot. The hotel is well past its used by date. The rooms are very basic and the blankets on our bed were thread bear! We hadn't even checked out of our room, our belongings were still in it we had only gone to breakfast and it had been cleaned ready for next people. I do hope they redid it as we hadn't finished with the bathroom! just a bit quick I think. The pool area too left something to be desired. Such a shame a revamp and it could be great. We stayed here 30yrs ago I don't think much has changed. However the breakfast was great and very good value.

I stayed here just for one night. My room was ion the ground floor with a sliding glass door to a grassed area next to the Te Puia Geothermal park. I could see the mud pool and the Geyser from my room. I ate with some people I met at the hotel. My food was OK but others did not get what the menu stated they were getting. The soup and garlic bread came without garlic bread; the pork chops and glazed pear had no pears, the vegetables in a crepe basket came in a bowl and the prawns with grapefruit and avocado had neither grapefruit nor avocado. Other than that the hotel was fine and well located.

We had read the previous comments so knew what to expect- a 70s hotel (formerly THC I think) in average condition. Our room was clean, tidy, quiet and with a comfortable bed. The view of the thermal activity was fantastic and saved us from paying $50 a person to go to Te Puia next door. We kept our slide door open at night so we could hear Pohutu geyser. Negatives: only one kind of (gumboot) tea available in our room and at breakfast; only one spout pool working; the spa and sauna were cold when we checked them at 5 30pm, and the outdoor pool was icy. Plusses: the wonderful view of Whakarewarewa/Te Puia; the spout pool was relaxing; the online deal for a 'superior' room with breakfast was good value; and the peace. I would totally recommend the Geyserland for a weekend break - and it would be a great place to bring overseas guests, as long as they wouldnt be too fussed if their room decor was a little dated.

I've been to different motels in Rotorua but this motel provides the worst service. I had to keep asking for tour information, no breakfast, no kitchen, very late checking in time. i wasn't very happy!

Quite a distance from the city centre - but fantastic location if you are wanting to visit the geothermal attractions...backs onto one ....can stand out the back and capture it all on film for free!
