We stayed two nights at the Pur. We liked the modern decor. The room was spacious. Takes about 10 mins to walk to the old City. The staff were friendly ,no problem switching to English. On the negative side the cappuccino machine was out of order. As was the sauna Good on the whole , if a little pricey

A real treasure. My husband and I fell on the Pur by luck (mixed with a little blessing!) After a family stay in Old Qc just a few weeks ago, we came back for a one-day trip. Under its old-world charm, we changed our mind about driving back home and scurried for accomodations for the night during the thick of the 400th anniversary. The Marriot worked with Pur to get us a last minute booking. WOW! is all we can say. After our disappointing stay at the 4-star a few weeks ago, we fell in love with Hotel Pur and its warm, friendly, professional staff. We did not blink an eye to book our next family vacation two months from now! Highly recommended for above all its staff, its beautiful modern decor, and the amazing espresso machine in the lobby :)

Yes, it's "minimalist" design, and if you want flowery wallpaper, go somewhere else. But this place is great -- exceptionally attentive staff, free gormet coffee, convenient parking (a real plus in Quebec!), and a location that can't be beat -- 5 minute walk from espace 400, the heart of the anniversary celebration at the Old Port, a shorter walk to a great market, easy access to fabulous bike trails, and a fair walk to the old city. All the problems in the previous reviews are resloved -- the pool is large and all finished. If you can, ask to reserve a room ending in 08 or 10, and above the 10th floor -- the view of the church and city beyond is great!

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. There was some renovations during our stay but they were limited to the exterior & lobby and really had no affect on our stay. The bright & sunny pool area is one of the cleanest I have seen in some time (limited occasions). The immediate area has undergone a major renovation in recent years and is very clean and welcoming with a new coffee shop & MEC right next door. You can tell this part of the city is on the rise. While it is a little walk to Old Quebec we did manage it there and back with our 7 & 9 year girls.......with a little encouagement. We found it very good value and would definetly stay here again.

This hotel started jackhammers at 7 AM. No lie - real jackhammers in the hotel at 7 AM. You could hear them two blocks away. Imagine being in the room then. Why not do jackhammers between check out and check in time? No ice buckets. Another traveller got a single room after reserving a double and they never brought them a cot that they said they would. A completely unpleasant experience.

Hotel is under renovation and is not ready for people to spend time in even if it's only overnight. The tub backed up with garbage while we were sleeping. No cable or movie rental available. Maybe when the renovation is complete it will be more amenable to guests. This is the first time that a Holiday Inn ever disappointed us.

They warned us that it was uphill to the old part of Quebec City but we weren't prepared for how steep the climb was. Not for the out of shape. Loved the hotel but next time we will stay up the hill, closer to the heart of the old city.

"We stayed here on a weekend visit. It is close to Old Montreal. If you don't enjoy a brisk walk uphill, take a cab. Friendly staff and nice clean rooms. Had dinner at a wonderful French restaurant called St. Anne's."

The agent said this hotel was within walking distance of main attractions...only if you are an extremely fit young athlete. It's all steep up hill & down hill to all main attractions.
