Prior to our visit to Buzios we were made to prepay for this room before we arrived ,on our arrival the accommodations were not as described and by no means met a 3 star level that this hotel boast. We refused the room and were told initially that we would not receive a refund of any amount even the erroneous charge of an additional day on the bill and that I should return the next day to discuss this issue with another individual at the hotel. When I arrived the next morning I was told that I was being issued a Brazilian check for the amount of the charge and I would have to find someone there that had a bank account in order to cash this check and it wasn’t there problem. Needless to say I am a tourist and I do not have the means to cash a check in Brazil nor do I know anybody with a checking account in Brazil and that I should return the next day again to speak to another person. When I returned the second time I was told that I would not be getting a refund of any kind due to the fact it was the hotels policy not to refund any monies that were prepaid prior to arrival, I have since filed a fraud charge with the Federal Police against the hotel here in Rio and also with my credit card company. Tourist beware this is not a good hotel, I would recommend the San Francisco, or the Buzios Beach hotel.
