We snorkled, snorkled and snorkled some more. The two things that I didnt care for was the one time we were eatting lunch in the resturant area. There was a whole group of cruise ship people that came in. They were yelling at their kids from inside the resturant area, their kids were on the beech. One guy was just beyond the handrail vomitting. Not good when you are trying to eat lunch. One of them also knocked over a large plant scattering dirt everywhere.I understand that this was out of the control of the staff unless they wanted to loose money by telling them to leave. Secondly, as we were checking out, we were charged for maid service which was fine except for the fact that we recieved maid service for two days at 1.50 a day and the total was 10.50 for 4 days. You do the math. We were also charged for tipping the bellman when we had already tipped him. Its amazing how the little things make you not want to stay at what I would consider a nice place again.

The hotel staff was friendly and the room and services excellent! Not one thing. The hotel was wonderful. Our room was spectacular. The ocean view was wonderful also. The restaurants had various choices and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful. I felt pampered and appreciated. The golf package for the country club was great. We played 3 times in five days. The club staff was wonderful and attentive. Great hotel for a great price! Make sure to check out the Lobster House across the street. Truly a dining experience never to be forgotten!

this hotel must have a deal with the locals. They come everyday and crowd the best part of the hotel's small beach. It isn't as though there are just a few of them. They take it over and stay all day. There is hardly room for the guests. There are lots of screaming kids running around in their diapers all along the beach and none of them are the guests.the hotel its self is a nice boutique hotel that would have been perfect if not for the non-guests permitted to take the place over on a daily basis. it seemed we were at a local beach and we were the unwanted intruders. Too bad, it could have been great.

Our room was great, with a wonderful view. My husband was not happy with the comfort of the beds. We were right on the ocean. It is quiet and very relaxing, the staff was great, friendly, knew us by name. While we were there, we visited Chi Chen Itza via tour bus, and we did the Cozumel Jeep Tour. It is easy to book tours through the hotel, but found better deals using Orbitz. The Orbitz guy came to the hotel and set up everything and he was easy to keep in contact with. The Centro was only a 5 minute taxi ride from the hotel. We recommend The Mission Resturant, they have great food, prices and great musicians. The hotel food can get pricey, so eat out in central cozumel a few times, you can find some great little places and shop a bit. We thought we were being careful on the tours but still got our phone stollen, but it can happen anywhere. Wonderful scenery, interesting people, wonderful history, all in all we had an awesome stay!

Complementary breakfast very good, staff friendly, free greens fee's at very good course, friendly atmosphere of older golf types, and young couples. The beds were very firm, uncomfortable for my sleep number type body. Playa Azul was what I expected. The Sea is at your door step, our Sea front suite had a great sunset view. The daily breakfast is very good, as are the bar and lunches. We dined in town each evening with a Taxi always ready. There is good snorkeling within 100 yards, the dive operation was very nice on our dive trip, my wife snorkeled above while I explored the reefs below. We enjoyed our stay, but for the bed.

This hotel had great facilities right on the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They clearly wanted us to have a great vacation and they succeeded. The folks at the dive shop were great as well - especially Flavio.

We stayed for our 25th anniversary. The room had a fabulous ocean front balcony. We enjoyed relaxing under the palapas on the beach in front of the hotel, snorkeling, playing golf, going for walks, the restaurant food was very good also. A large breakfast buffet was served each morning and was excellent. We couldn't think of a more charming place to enjoy our anniversary.

We upgraded to the next level room and we were pleased with the room and the view. No elevator or out of order if working & did not go to our floor. May 24 to 28 2007 - the staff did all they could do to make our stay the best - could arrange activities from site. Common areas were not air conditioned and were open air which we were not used to or expected as a first timer to Mexico, but after staying at another location we learned how Costume and Cancun does things and adjusted - would return if we had the chance -remember that the cost of transportation is constant since you are away from the action hotel is a good place to relax.

Off the beaten track, yet close to downtown, this place was great. We were looking for quiet, cozy yet all the perks of a higher end hotel. This was perfect (quiet at night). The views were great, snorkeling out front is a must, as is the chips & guacomole and a pina coloda! Can't say enough about the wonderfull staff! Cozumel is spectacullarly beautiful and this hotel made our trip most enjoyable. This was our first trip to Cozumel: 1. We will definately go back 2. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere other than Playa Azul. Email with any questions about things to do on the island!

The hotel has a wonderful beach with amazing snorkeling. The staff is very friendly. The golf was unreal, we saw crocs, wild boar, iguanas and a turtle on the course; and it was a great golf course(however I will suggest bringing your own golf balls!!! $18 a SLEAVE for ProV1's!!). The scuba instructors were helpful and nice to work with. The food was ok...but overpriced. The fruit smoothies were wonderful. I'd suggest eating downtown when you get a chance at the Hard Rock and the Casa Mission. The internet worked, but the computer there was on the fritz. The spa service was amazing, I'd suggest it to anyone.

Fabulous beach and setting. One or two disappointing meals at hotel. My experience at playa aula was incredible once again. The beach and crystal clear waters are unforgettable. And the staff was fantastic. I love this hotel!

This was our third time at Playa Azul. Rooms are big, staff is good and friendly. Would like to see screen doors at entry doors so you can get a cross breeze in the room.

The hotel needs major updating. The staff was very freindly. Great bare bones hotel if only interested in diving.

The view and were rooms were wonderful. Our bathroom had a bad smell; the scuba shop needs more equipment. We loved this hotel. We were very impressed with the rooms and service. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach had better snorkeling than a snorkel trip we went on. We were very happy and are hopeful that we can go back soon.

We had a great time at the hotel, it was nice and quiet. Went golfing up at the Golf Course (green fees are free if you stay here). I would say the only things missing at Playa Azul is a small refrigerator in the room (for beer, etc), and giving the guests a little more water during the day (gets expensive buying it on site).

Everything was beautiful, from the setting, the rooms, the beach and the people!!!!. The pool was dirty. Very peaceful, quiet and beautiful. The air condition worked great, every room has an ocean view with a balcony and it was pretty secluded. We never had a problem finding a beach chair!!.

This was a family dive vacation and it was perfect. The Pro-Dive dive shop located on the hotel's property made this an ideal hotel for a dive vacation. Great breakfasts included in the hotel rates helped to make this a very affordable vacation. Good staff. Nice in hotel bar. Very Nice.

This was our 6th year in a row staying at the Playa Azul in Cozumel and golfing at the Cozumel Country Club. We just love the friendly and unchanging staff that always remembers us from year to year. The clientel are an older, friendlier, and quieter than most resort hotels -- and that's just the way we like it. The beach is not what it used to be after hurricane Wilma sucked all of the sand off of it, but it still serves our purpose (cooling off in the water and occasional snorkeling). When you combine the personable, quaint ocean-side hotel with a challenging test of golf located just across the street (bring lots of golf balls), it all adds up to a wonderful golfing vacation spot for us.

Playa Azul was a charming small hotel in Cozumel where you can experience the real Mexico. It was quiet and had a great location for snorkeling. My husband and I spent hours snorkeling right off the hotel beach and the fish and coral were outstanding. The water was the clearest of anywhere we've been in the Caribbean. We loved everything about Playa Azul--the solitude, the food, the room, and the spa. Service was excellent and all staff were eager to please and friendly. We will stay there again. It is a great value.
