Situated in the heart of Nice, nearby the shopping and touristic center, the hotel Plaisance will welcome you in its 34 soundproofed and air conditioned rooms. You will appreciate to relax in its lobby where you will find a music bar. This hotel is in a street leading off the Avenue Jean Medecin, a main shopping street, and thus benefits from all the town centre facilities, shops, cinemas, public transport, and restaurants. It is close to the railway station too. As it is in a mainly residential street, it is quiet. The two star hotel occupies a beautiful old building but has all modern comforts. The sound proofed rooms are very simply decorated.

I was shown the room by the male proprietor it was small in a narrow hallway and almost opposite the lift. I asked if there was another room (in french) and the abrupt reply was Non. The carpet in the room was dirty in places the TV did not work right there was noise from the lift the hairdryer kept falling apart. The staff were pleasant and obliging. I wonted to pay for my stay the night before the morning i was leaving and on doing so a member of staff asked if i was leaving after 07.00 in the morning because after that time the proprietor would be there and he was the one to take the payment, well my reply was that i was not certain when i was going to leave and he contacted the proprietor by telephone and within ten minutes he arrived he went to his desk mumbling in Basil Fawlty fashion i asked if things were OK and i was treated to a scene that would fit the Fawlty towers TV show that included rudeness and total disrespect for a guest that only wonted to pay a bill the evening before departure, and he told me to watch my mouth i can only assume he said this because i told him the problem was his fault. I told him that he had upset my evening and he told me that there is a chemist nearby that sells a remedy that would help me to sleep. I would not stay there again for free and would not recommend it except for anyone that would like to see a Basil performance in french. Turns out that i left before 07.00 and the proprietor was not there.

Fine hotel, in the middle of the city. Very convenient location close enough to the beach and old city. Staff very friendly & helpful. Didnt have breakfast, but it didnt look great - I think your €6 would be better spent in a café. Rooms were a bit drab and could do with modernisation. Overall a good stay and would recommend.

I'm a frequent traveler and i found the area very dodgy, lots of drunks and pro's. Not a comfortable place to be walking about and definately no good for families. Area has predominantly asian restaurants. Was woken at 4am by the night staff banging doors and moving stuff around till i complained at about 5.30. this was a ground floor room so thats a no-go if you had a choice

single room was tiny, with a faulty light. window faced directly into a wall and another window so had to keep curtains closed. staff very friendly. clean. fine for overnight stay, but not somewhere to spend time relaxing.

This is a fine basic hotel. It's a short walk to the train station, close to shops and about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and old city. If you're simply looking for a place to lay your head after a long day out, it works. It's not long on frills, although the air conditioning is a big plus in warmer months. Offers a decent, affordable breakfast and has a friendly, helpful staff.

Excellent value. 2 star hotel with some 3 star facilities (lift, excellent air-conditioning, safe in room —this last costs 8 euros extra) —besides direct dial telephone, TV, good clean ensuite, enough room not to feel cramped (I was in a single) and a small balcony overlooking the street. And all for 46 Euros per night in June! The hotel is not part of a chain and has personality —the décor (solidly pleasant) includes tributes to Napoleon Bonaparte, ancient Egyptian figures and Venetian masks. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfasts (5 Euros) were standard French (orange juice, hot drink of choice, croissant, bread, jam, butter); the bread and croissants were fresh and the coffee (my choice) hot, strong and plentiful. The hotel is a very easy walk from the train station, in a street off the main shopping street, and is about a 20 minute stroll from the beach. When the Nice tramway is finally open, everything will be in even easier reach.

The hotel was basic but clean and great if you need a low cost hotel for a short stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a double ensuite for about 70 Euro a night which is a competitive price for the area. I would recommend this place to a friend as long as their expectations weren't too high. Our shower had a section of the door missing and the water leaked all over the floor but it wasn't too much of an inconvenience - you get what you pay for!
