First year staying in Fort Myers. We vacationed in Panama City and Destin area in the past few years. This trip was well worth the additional travel time and money. The hotel is located on the more private end of the beach with great access in and out. The staff was great. All of the water activities are on the property. The kids went Para-sailing and used jetski. The staff members are very professional and will answer every question you may have. Unlike some of the beach rental/activity locations I've used in the past. The main pool can get crowded at times and it seemed most of the people didn't know of the pool at our building. "Sanibel View" Great for us! Our trip was great and plan to return next year

There are 2 buildings to this hotel. We stayed in the South unit, which I believe is much older than the north unit. North unit is about $/night higher. Our room was old. The stove, sink and refrigerator looked like something from the 1950's. Glass in the kitchen area was cracked with 4 pieces of duct tape covering cracks. We had 2 double beds and a sofa, so adequate room for 3 of us. Bathroom was rather small. Parking areas are assigned (no charge to park). Nice view of beach outside window. Heated pool was salt water, but clean. Unheated pool was very cold and not being used. Housekeepers made sure you had adequate towels and pool towels are available from front desk. Grill on beach is used by many. Convenience store nearby sells steaks and hot dogs and prices are reasonable. There is a trolly that goes up and down Estero, but we walked to nearby shops and restaurants. Motel has nice location. Caution: I made the reservation on their web site and they said they didn't have the reservation when I got to the desk. I had checked the night before and rooms were advertised at $ less than what I booked originally. I told her I would go to my car and book a room on my computer and the gal at the desk brought up her web site and found the rate I told her about and put me in for the $ rate, so all worked out ok. Don't know what we would have done if they hadn't had rooms and would not honor the print out that I had of my booking.

It was a great place to relax and the room was perfect. Gulfview from all rooms means you don't pay extra. Buffett breakfast was great. The only draw back was our room key did not work three of the four days there. That was a hassle and I read about it in reviews before I booked, not thinking that I would be standing outside my room and have to go to another building to get another one. Surely this resort has the knowledge to fix this as it continues to appear in reviews. I would stay here again with no hesitation.

We stayed at the Pink Shell with our 2 small children. Great time! The room was as fabulous as the photo. This resort is perfect for families. I don't know if I would want to go if we didn't have the kids along. Everything was very noisy and kid friendly. We loved the breakfast buffet in the mornings. Also loved renting the DVD player for TV in kids bedroom. (Bedtime was much smoother!) The dive-in movie was a blast. We were glad we wanted to participate since our room faced the pool....you didn't have much choice. Overall we were pleased with our choice of hotel. Lots of fun activities for the kids. It looked like one of the nicest locations on Ft. Myers Beach.

This was my first trip to the Ft Myers area and I found this hotel to be an excellent accomodation. The front desk staff was very accomodating, the bar staff was friendly, efficient and professional, the food in the restaurant was exceptional (although the staff was a little off their game, but hey, it can't all be perfect!) The room was far more than I expected with beautiful balcony views, high quality sheets, towels and bathrobes provided. The kitchen area was extremely well furnished. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone!

Our room was spotless on arrival and stayed that way every day. JoJo's has great food. The breakfast buffet at Jack's was super. You can't beat the view. Our end was quiet and peaceful. The staff was attentive and friendly. We had a wonderful week and can't wait to go back next year.

We arrived on a Thursday and were given a room on the 1st floor which had the bedroom window located directly into the corridor. The staff was very good at getting us a different room on the 3rd floor. The bedroom had a gulf view and was perfect. The room was clean. We did have a bathroom sink which did not drain and a commode which sounded like it was leaking. This was not a problem and did not affect our stay. In order to use the pool they required wrist bands. This was supposed to keep the pool use for quest only. The problem is they did not enforce the rules and we noted other users of the pool which was extremely crowded. If you have rules enforce them. The key cards constantly failed which became frustrating. It turns out you have to be very careful with keeping them away from your cell phone. Over all the hotel was very nice to stay but I would not call it a resort.

Although we liked the hotel, we were pressured into upgrading our room as it was going to be so much better for a special price. We were given several options w/ several different prices depending on amenities like a "lanai". We had booked a room w/ 2 queens but they turned out to be doubles. Our upgraded room had a separate king bedroom but the living kitchen dining other bed area was too small to fit my family of 4. The lanai was also too small to permit 4 people to stand outside. We had trouble eating, playing games etc. The rooms w/o seperate bedrooms looked much bigger and had a dining table. It is also confusing as the hotel is made up of 4 or 5 different hotels that they bought up and combined so each building is different. The location was excellent and the beach fantastic. hope this helps. call to confirm beds.

My family had a great time. We went swimming in the gulf from across from the hotel and found lots of sand dollars which the kids loved. The pool was great and the spa was very nice. The staff was helpfull. Food was also great.

Our trip was recent 12/14/08-12/18/08. We were greated by very profession and friendly staff that offered us an immediate, beautiful upgrade that we were thrilled with. We stayed in a top floor, large suite with a gorgeous view of the gulf including breathless sunsets. We could not have wanted anything more. The grounds were beautiful with two pools and tropical landscapes. Our favorite part was the long walks along beautiful beaches but we also were close enough to small shops that provided anything that we might need. Our large suite also included a fully stocked kitchen and large, LCD TVs in both the living room and bedroom. We had not brought our laptop but the hotel did provide us with DSL computer access along with a printer to complete our online airline check-in. Thanks "Pink Shell" for a wonderful time, and we will be back for our next grandchild's birthday, if not sooner.

Loved the hotel, the staff was always very friendly and helpful. Even offered to take a picture of our family for us! Our room was great, loved having laundrey facilities in our room! Our room was cleaned early each day, by lunch time when we would come up for a quick lunch it had already been cleaned each day. The kitchen was perfect for quick lunches, cold drinks and our morning coffee whenever we wanted! It is very much a family hotel, so expect a lot of small children and the noise that follows them! The food was good, but very much resort prices. We rented chairs and umbrellas on the beach which was odd for a beach resort ($22 a day for 2 chairs and an umbrella, $12 more a day for an extra chair , for 3 or more days) The staff at the rental spot was very friendly, but each day we had to ask for our extra chair to be set up and one day we went down later then usual and they had given our spot to someone else! They did move them for us, but still...we had already paid them for that spot!

The hotel was very clean and new. The staff couldn't do enough for us, they alwas wanted to do more. My wife and I haven't been more relaxed or as rested in any of our past vacations. The breakfast buffet was awsome and the food was great. I will strongly recommend the Pink Shell to everyone. We can't wait to return.

We stayed at the Pink Shell on our honeymoon about 3 years ago and were anxious to return. Sadly, the rooms in the Sanibel View building are starting to look tired and worn. For example, the tv cabinet had been damaged and looked trashy. It took forever for the shower to get hot, but when it did, it was scorching hot. The water pressure was poor. We had a constant problem with the door passkeys not working. I can't begin to count the number of trips we made to the registration desk to have them re-programmed. Each trip included a lecture about needing to keep them in the protective sleeve and away from anything electronic or magnetic (which we had already been doing). The wristbands required at the pool each day were annoying. The main pool is very nice; however, we preferred the pool outside the Sanibel View building because it was not as busy and was more quiet. A wonderful change since our last stay is the breakfast buffet now included. The food was incredible, second only to the view while enjoying the meal. Between the honeymoon trip and this trip, we had stayed at Diamond Head (kids in tow - needed more room). Because it was just us this time, we wanted to return to the Pink Shell. The overall experience was not what we had hoped for. Unless they have some incredible knock-your-socks-off deal, I doubt we will stay there again.

I thought some of the pictures and information on the hotel's website were deceiving. We were first put into the Captiva Villas which according to the site they "provide a higher standard of living for discriminating guests", and I AM quite discriminating! For it being newer I thought it was quite dark and worn feeling. It did have two large patios, at least the one we were in, and it did have a flat screen TV. It also had a hot tub on one of the patios. We ended up switching to the White Sands Villa b/c we didn't feel the Capitiva Villa was worth the $200 upgrate for 4 nights. I preferred the second room much more. It was brighter, cleaner, much larger kitchen with full oven (not just a cooktop like the Captiva had) and a dishwasher. There was only 1 patio but it was sufficient for the 3 people in our party. I preferred the White Sand Villa much more. The spa was quite pricey. I liked the breakfast buffet but if it weren't free I'm not sure it was really worth the price (I think it was around $14pp). Jojo's was ok, pricey, quality just ok. I didn't go to Bongo's so I'm not sure about that one. I just looked at the site again and I didn't even know about Jack's Sea Grill or we probably would have tried that. There wasn't enough parking. There definitely wasn't as much beach frontage as shown in the pictures. The stay was ok but I would not go back.

The location on Ft Myers Beach was difficult to get to and go any where. There is only 1 road in and out. A 20 mile drive took 45 minutes. The hotel is very nice. The rooms very large with a seperate bedroom, living room and kitchen. The vire was increadable. Floor to ceiling windows over looking the and ocean. The pools got very crowded and people put towels on chairs to save them. So getting a shady spot at the pool was difficult. The front desk was great. The got us anything we needed and were very helpful with resturant suggestions and directions.
