There was a problem with the reservation the first night, but the next morning the front desk staff were great help in fixing it. Call ahead if you are reserving a room for more than one person but you're flying separately. This location is one block from Union Station with great shops and Metro access. It is also about four blocks from the Capitol and the beginning of the Mall with the many museums, etc. The Dubliner pub is connected to the first floor of the Phoenix Park and we ate there three times. One of the evenings we were there for the live music - very nice. There is no swimming pool, but the rooms are very nice, decorated with an old-world decor but with a current HD tv. Loved my stay in Washington DC and at the Phoenix Park!

Very comfortable beds. Very quiet rooms. Our whole experience was very satisfying. Everyone was willing to accommodate our every whim! Very courteous staff.

The Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington DC had only one thing going for it, the Dubliner Bar and Restaurant. Save your money and stay at a hotel that values its customers. Come to the Dubliner for drinks, food, and fun. I booked a two night stay for Sat. and Sun. and got very little sleep on Mon. morning due to the construction zone located directly adjacent to my room. The whole side of the building surely was affected with construction beginning at 6:30 am. What I don't understand is how they can put anyone in those rooms knowing they are completely unusable. The room was otherwise merely OK, similarly there wasn't a wet bar in my room as advertised, and it smelled of cigarettes. Show some foresight, open a window and don't book people on that side of the hotel on work days. The service people were not very helpful due to lack of attentiveness. Staff would regularly be on their cell phones instead of paying attention to their duties. Hard to believe this is a 4 star hotel.

The hotel is one block from Union Station which is a major hub for the Metro and Amtrak trains. It's an easy walk to the U.S. Capital The staff was very friendly and willing to provide assistance and answer any questions. I highly recommend this hotel.

Cute little hotel, recently remodeled, best hotel bed I've ever slept in. Great view of Capitol from middle of street in front of the hotel. Short walking distance to Capitol and Supreme Court, near Union Station and Metro and right on the Cirulator bus line, where for $1 you can ride to Georgetown and other interesting places. Will stay there again next time in DC.

It was charming. Noise from outdoor restaurant below our room. The hotel had character, room was attractive but a bit small, hotel staff very helpful and pleasant, close to union station which was very nice, close to tourist attractions. Only downside was the noise from the hotel restaurant below our room kept us awake. The window was broken so more noise got in than should have but it was so late by the time we discovered this we decided to endure it rather than try to get another room. Even if the window wasn't broken, the windows were thin and the noise would have come through, though not as bad. It was the only downside to the stay because otherwise it was a perfect place to stay but it was a big flaw.

The bed and the flat screen TV were standouts. Best I've ever had in a hotel. I parked at the Union Station garage about a block away for half the daily hotel's price and rode the Metro from there.

We spent 5 nights during the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Phoenix. The accomodations were great and we have stayed in numerous other hotels in dc. We came in by Amtrak from Chicago and literally the hotel is across from Union Station. The staff was friendly and ate a few meals at the Dubliner. i would highly recommend this hotel to a business traveler or to a family with all ages of children.

i travel to DC often, and had never stayed at the Phoenix Park. 2 blocks to the train station made it very convenient. Smallish Lobby and elevators, but my room was nice and clean. halls and carpeting fine. bed very comfortable and bath very adequate. i had dinner at the Irish Pub in the bldg. and found it upbeat and good Pub food. For downtown convenience certainly a decent value.

Small hotel, small elevators. Traditionally decorated. Bed and linens were comfy. Restaurant next door was convenient. View of the capital from the entrance. Walking distance to some museums., and transportations.

Great location by US Capital - good walking distance to sites. Car valet parking overnight was too expensive - we used cheaper lot nearby. Room was clean; friendly staff and good location. Enjoyed a few draft house beers in the pub at night after touring all day.

The standard rooms are no larger than a walk-in closet. A garbage truck under our window woke us up at 5am and continued to make noise for ten minutes.

I picked this hotel because it was "historic" and not part of a chain. The hotel was nice and clean and the front desk staff was pleasant. My room was very small. Although that did not bother me very much, it might bother others. There was just enough space to walk around the bed. There was no space to put your suitcase other than on the bed. My biggest complaint was that the room was cold. I set the thermostat to the max, but only cool air was blowing out of the vent. I informed the front desk as I left for my event. When I returned, the room was still cold. I told the front desk as I left about it and they are sending me a coupon for a free night as compensation. The only othe complaint that I had was that the staff kept entering my room. The man came to check the honor bar after I had checked in and arrived in the room. As I was eating breakfast, the maid came into the room and left the change of linens on the dresser. As I was in my room waiting for my transfer to the airport, the maid came again to clean the room. Check out time is 1:00 and all this happened before 9:30. I just didn't expect the staff to be in and out of my room so many times before check out time. This was not a bad hotel. The location was good for me (near Union Station).

When I walked into the Phoenix Park lobby, I thought I had made a mistake and booked the wrong hotel. The lobby was small and a bit dingy. However, the room was very pretty and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the third floor ice machine was broken during my stay and the fourth floor ice machine had been removed. I had to go to the fifth floor to get ice. The location is great, two blocks from Union Station and walking distance to the National Mall.

Other than a very small room, which was to be expected in this location, the hotel was a great value and location. Check-in was quick and the staff friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Location is great with Union Station one block away, so if you are flying into Baltimore or National airports just take the train into town. The east end of The Mall (The Capitol) is a short walk away. And if you don't want to walk the entire length of the Mall, catch a Metro train at Union station to get to other points of interest.

The room was really small. We were bumping into each other.

This hotel is lovely, clean, comfortable, gracious, convenient to Union Station, Capitol Hill and many other of Washington's finer attractions, and features a great Irish bar and restaurant on the premesis. I had a great stay and highly recommend it.

room nice but my room could have been more spacious, but there are other larger rooms there"
