i was with 3 friends in madrid for a champions league game and stayed at the st bernardo.i found the hotel very clean and very welcoming, the location is superb as was the room.a drama did evolve during our stay and that was not with the hotel but with the football tickets,to cut a very long story short we thought they were not going to turn up and we would not get to the match, which indeed we would not have.i asked for the help of the deputy manager david and the manager himself who made numerous phone calls and even hailed a taxi down on gran via and directed the driver to our tickets.we cannot thank them enough,i shall be defiently going back there.

Central Madrid 4 Star HotelA fantastic hotel, situated in the Santo Domingo area of the City. Literally 20 metres from Gran Via and right on the Santo Domingo Plaza where there is an abundance of market stalls and cafes. Hotel was ideal for seeing all the sites of Madrid- everything is a short walk away and we didn't even need to use the Metro. Highly recommend this hotel, stylish, comfortable and affordable.

This was our first trip to Madrid so I really had no idea what to expect for hotels. I picked this one because it looked nice and my sons liked the bunk bed idea. We actually stayed in two rooms. The first room was 607. This was not a good room. The only window was a skylight that you had to keep close during the day because there was construction next door. It was also very hot in the room and no air conditioning to cool it down. The trash wasn't taken out and there was only one pillow to sleep on for three people. We asked to be moved to another room and this was much bettere. There were bunk beds this time and pillows for everyone! It was also clean and much cooler. One thing to keep in mind about this hotel is the "hi tech" shower. There are no doors on the showers, so if you use the body massaging aspect of the shower, you will flood the bathroom! To stop from flooding the whole room, put a towel in front of the door and that should stop it. The staff was very nice and helpful. They helped us with booking tours and even walked us to the place where we would pick up the bus for the next day's tour. Finally, the breakfast the hotel offers is pretty good. It is served buffet style and they had a pretty good variety of items to choose from. One very nice thing about the hotel, you can get lattes, cappacinos, and other coffe drinks for free anytime during the day. That was very nice! I don't know if I'd stay there again, but it was a nice hotel for someone unsure where to stay.

excellent location. Rooms superb quality with very comfortable beds, wonderful showers and pc's in rooms. Only downside was the breakfast - average!

Good for the money butStayed 4 nights. Don't take the name High Tech Hotel literally, maybe 10 or 15 years ago. OK accommodations, a little cramped, avoid 6th floor rooms (top floor) as they get very hot during the day and the a/c cannot keep up. Paper thin walls so better hope you don't get noisy neighbours. Breakfast hot foods usually not even warm. Nice friendly helpful staff and great convenient location.

Great place for a short breakPerfectly situated in the centre of the city for ease of access to sights, places of interest, bars, great food, drink and shopping. The hotel staff friendly and welcoming. The hotel is clean, well equipped and the room though smallish had everything to hand and was attractively kitted out. The bathrooms are large, bright and with high quality fittings. Everything a city traveller would need and definitely on my list for a revisit in the future.

madrid feb 2009hotel is in good location near Metro, near Gran Via,and Old Madrid. As for the rooms,we initially had to change ours as it overlooked building work being carried out at the hotel! Our substitute room was adequate;beds too small but showers brilliant.Breakfasts were very good value:you can fill your face for 10 Euros before a long day of typical tourist activities!Staff were helpful and friendly.Beware taxi trip back to airport...we payed 50 Euros on a quiet Sunday morning...should be 30/35 Euros! Viva Espana.

The hotel is very centrally located and meant we did not need to use the metro or taxis to get around the city. The room was a little small for 3 people but was clean, had a great shower/bathroom and the beds were very comfortable. We did have a laptop in the room but no tea/coffee facilities (which I would expect for a hotel of this rating). The hotel only does breakfast and if you are intending on having a drink in your room before you go out bring your own corkscrew as they don't have one in the hotel!!!

A small central hotel, friendly staff, good accommodation, would stop there again, no problem.

Great Location, very easy to find. Very quiet, and clean. Great showers.Really nice to have a laptop in the room with free connection, it made it easy to plan the next stage of our trip. Pitty the weather was so foul. Great place for stopover.

Very well located hotel for exploring central Madrid. Hotel is very modern and clean with a very good shower (although it's very easy to soak the bathroom with it!) Nearest Metro stop is Santo Domingo, not Callao as stated on directions.

the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They also have bicycles for free hire to use around madrid. the 6th floor (top floor) roof rooms were exceptionally hot and airconditioning wasn't enough to cool the room down. otherwise, a great hotel and definitely good for those who are on trapsatur tours as the bus leaves from 2 doors down.

The only problem with the hotel was that it was difficult to find as it's a small entry just off a major road and the map link actually points to the streets across the road.Other than that it was clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Breakfast should be included in the price instead of having to pay 11euros.

Very good hotel with great access the Grand Vie. Metro was just at the end of the street, and for 1 euro you can go anywhere! Bathroom is a bit strange as per the other reviews. The 'wet room' concept takes a bit of getting used to, with the Power shower shooting water right across the bathroom! Overall excellent value for money. B'fast was 10Euros and there was a good choice of food. The free wireless Internet was also very useful.

Perfectly situated for tourists. Nice room with flatscreen, laptop and 'high tech' shower/bathroom, very friendly staff. Matt glass windows and door to separate bathroom from room look great, but don't provide a lot of privacy. All togeter very comfortable and pleasant place to stay!

Directions given by hotel/late rooms to the hotel were useless - the nearest underground station was Santo Domingo - a 1 minute walk away.

Great location for a hotel in Madrid. Close to several Metro stations & within walking distance of many sights. Rooms were not very large, but well appointed.
