Room overview.Room size ok, modern looking, good clean and stylish bathroom and power shower . Room is always clean, only thing was that for 3 people it was a bit small, but it was good enough as we only slept and had a siesta in it. Would stay there again. Good location for travel and sightseeing.

Great location next to the Metro and big plaza. Disappointed that the hotel did not honor the Orbitz package deal with champagne/chocolates. They do speak English!

Great service - we were not due to book in until 12 noon but arrived at 9.30am and our room was ready and waiting which meant we could leave our bags and get on with sightseeing. On our last day we were able to leave our bags in a secure area until we left to catch our plane home so again enabling us to continue exploring Madrid until the last minute without heavy luggage. A good selection at breakfast as well.

We booked this hotel for our return/lay-over leg back from Barcelona to Madrid, hoping for a comfortable stay closer to the heart of the city (hotel during the first Madrid leg was north of the main area). Sadly enough the Petit Palace has seen it's better days, and what we ended up with was a shabby, dirty, run-down hotel that smelled of mold. It's a shame, really, because the Petit Palace IS in a great location. It's simply in need of MUCH repair - the computer in the common area was broken, the wooden floors were chipped, warmed, and/or missing pieces. The room itself was tiny & cramped with somewhat rotted flooring and walls along the shower. The toilet stunk and would nearly tip over if you leaned too far to the side (honest visual, I know). The outlets in the room were on the fritz and I had to repeatedly wiggle the TV cord to make the set turn on. In addition there was no option for A/C in the room - just warm air - despite the fact that it had been rather warm outside that day. In summary, the Petit Palace is a shell of what was probably a once nice hotel. I would rank it below 90% of the hostels I have stayed in. The sad thing is, this COULD be a great place with a lot of work. If you're in Madrid, look further north. There are better hotels with better service, rooms, breakfast, etc. for much cheaper.

Excellent staff, perfectly located, minutes walking distance to Royal Palace, Plaza Mayor, Metro, Prado, parks. A bit of street noise, as all rooms are located on street side. But it does give one a feel for the city.

Excellent hotelExcellent location - straight out to shopping precinct, bars and restaurants. Very central for all activities. I would recommend this hotel.

Quad Room for family of 4 (kids 11 & 8) was little bigger than double room, well equipped but some basic maintenance in need of attention. Shower door fell off but quickly repaired by helpful nothing too much trouble staff. Relatively quiet for sucha central hotel, apart from monastery bells at 0630 (!). Breakfast reasonable although pricy (E12 extra p.p.). Well located for attractions, sights, restaurants and public transport (Sol metro 50m from reception)

we stayed for one night and was disappointed that a Burger King is on the second floor. the hotel has faint grease smell. the rooms are small and dark. not worth your money

Curate's EggWell thought out design and superficially well presented. The shower was not well finished, and the laminate flooring was beginning to peel. There was no plug for the sink. The bedside lights were loose and difficult to place. The TV was not possible to tune and most of the programs were N/A.However these were minor, but irritating lacunae.

Well located near the animated center. However, avoid if you intend to have quiet nights. The hotel itself is quiet , but in the street, animation guaranteed all night ! Nice people, always ready to respond to your requests. Well equiped room, with massage showers and free internet access.

Excellent location and front desk help was just that VERY helpful. For singles and couples, couldn't find a better location. Highly recommended

This hotel was perfectly located and great value. The room was really nice and the shower was great. The only drawback was quite a strange one. The Toilet. the frosted glass partition between the bedroom and the bathroom was adequate enough but the square of perfectly transparent glass on the door right next to the toilet meant you could see straight from the bed to the toilet! Now, although i love my partner very much, i don't particularly want them to watch me whilst on the toilet, and vice versa. Very strange indeed, but not enough to put us off the hotel.

Although the hotel was conveniently located, this was really it's only redeeming feature. The room was tiny. The bath 'room' is a mis-nomer - it was actually an alcove of the bedroom with a glass swinging door, providing absolutely no privacy. The glass basin was badly cracked, there was no rail to hang towels on other than one which was at 2 metres height and the shower door was partially detached. The breakfast room was cramped with a sloped ramp that had to be negotiated every time you collected anything from the buffet, including drinks, and which was so cramped that any more than 2 people caused overcrowding. The room had air-conditioning, which was efficient when switched on, but was so loud that even on the lowest setting, it was too loud to get to sleep. So it remained switched off all night - not much piont in having it really. All in all, not an experiecne we wish to ever repeat, and not at all what we were lead to believe from the write-up on the web-site. Very disappointing.

This is a very good hotel íf you want to go to the Prado and other museums,or Plaza Mayor. Right next to Sol metro station. Very helpful and friendly staff, free email in the lobby and they stored our luggage on our last day when we were leaving on a late train. Lots of good eating places nearby. Highly recommended.

I would not of paid full price for this hotel ! It served its pupose but with room for improvement. The young man on reception was lovely - worked extremely hard and very polite.

Comfortable central hotel - 5 minutes to Plaza Mayor, with Sol Metro directly outside door. Very friendly welcome from reception staff and varied breakfast selection. Wifi in room with code from reception, iron & board acquired within 2 minutes of asking! Whilst concerned initially about noise from busy central location, fears were very quickly waylaid. Would definitely recommend.

I didn't sleep in two nights when I stayed at Petit Palace Puerta del Sol. The room smelt very badly and you couldn't have the window open because the noise of the air-conditioning machines outside. You couldn't put your own airconditioning because the noise was way to annoying, very loud, it seemed broken but they assured me that it wasn't. . The bathroom wasn't even properly cleaned. They promised to bring the cable to connect to the internet to my room but they never did. I have stayed in other Petit Palace in Madrid and they all were very nice, but I won't stay in this one again even if it is for free.

Good hotel in centre of Madrid close to the SOL Metro station. Bedrooms clean and tidy. Continental Breakfast good value if included but there are lots of bars/cafes to visit close if not included. Free Internet. Stay here if you want to be close to lots to do however due to central position the partygoers may wakr you up at night.
