Mini Break in JulyAlthough the hotel was rated at 4 star, this doesn't equate to a 4 star in the UK, nop bar or restaurant but that wasn't needed as the location was great with lots of bars and cafe's within 100 yards. Even though it was centrally located the position of the hotel meant there was no noise at night. The room was small but clean and well serviced and freshly decorated, the AC kept it cool even at 35'c outside. The free laptop with internet connection in the room ensured the 2 kids were not bored when in the room.

Location was great and having a laptop in the room was perfect. Great location and steps from Plaza Mayor and nice decor, functional, clean and a personal laptop within every room.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel located in a wonderful area of Madrid! The hotel is close to so much that we wanted to see and the staff was very helpful. They were able to make reservations at the Flamenco restaurant, made calls to help us retrieve lost baggage, and gave us general information about Madrid. Our room was on the 1st floor and was quite noisy, especially at night, but it also made us feel part of the active city. The hotel has kept a lot of its original brick and stone work which is very charming, but has added modern conveniences. There is even a computer with internet access in the room. We'd return to this hotel on another visit to Madrid and will recommend it to our friends.

Nice modern rooms in one of the oldest buildings in MadridGreat hotel for the price, the rooms are very modern and clean equipped with laptop and free internet access. Excellent location as well, all the main and most popular monuments and tourist spots are easily accessible form the hotel.

When we got there we were impressed with the small lobby. It was very nice. When we tried to go up the elevator it was impossible for both of us to get in together. So we went one by one. It was ok. The room was also small but had everything we needed. The bathroom was different and the shower was awesome. It was like a spa shower. That was a plus! We didn't have much of a view but who cares when you walk out of the hotel room you're in the middle of everything! The room is cleaned daily and they get worried when they cant get in there to clean. The staff is very friendly and they speak english so we understood each other. I would however recommend that you take your own pillow because as soon as you lay your head on it, it sinks all the way in. We had no problems with this hotel and would go back again.

PETIT PALACE POSADA DEL PEINE - CITY INN MADRIDExecutive Doubles not a bad size although would have been nice to have somewhere to sit other than the bed. Very nice size bathroom with excellent walk in shower (using it however did soak into the main room which was a bit worrying).. Bed comfortable, staff very helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English. Very central without being noisy.

Great Location and accommodations. Would stay here again.Fan tastic location right in the centre of everything and walking distance to anywhere you really want to go in Madrid. We walked everywhere as we found it easier than catching the metro with a young baby in stroller. Hotel room was comfortable, clean, laptop in room was very handy, staff were helpful. A few things that could improve: coffee machine and juice are provided in the lobby but would be better if this was available at all times (especially for those with jet lag) and if the juice and milk in the machine was topped up more regularly; breakfast was not included in the price and was too expensive given the choices available within a minute's walk; double beds are twin beds stuck together which we found to be the norm in Spain but is annoying when you just want a double bed!In terms of the room, we were initially given a very dark but large room with a slanting roof but the staff were very quick to respond to our request for a change of room. The next one had more light (I'm a little claustrophobic) and no slanting roof (my husband is tallish) though it was smaller, but this suited us better. However, the rooms have everything you need and more, the bathrooms are spacious enough and the staff are helpful. The best thing about it though, is the location, which is close enough to everything.Price permitting, I would stay here again in the blink of an eye.

Great service from friendly staff. Nice modern room in an ideal location. Looks like all rooms refurbished relatively recently. Shower was fabulous. Free laptop with internet access in room was a bonus.Only downside with room was internal noise. It seems like they spent all of the refurbishment money on decor, plumbing and computer network and none on soundproofing.

Although I booked to stay at this hotel, due to the tragic events at the airport, I receiveed an email advising me that we would actually stay in their sister hotel Petit Palace Alcala Torre. The two hotels are less than 5 mins apart and Alcala Torre is right by the Sevilla Metro station, so very easy to get to as well as being centrally located. We did see Posada del Peine, near Plaza Mayor and think that Alcala Torre has the better location in terms of possible noise from the Plaza and visitors to it.I understand the hotels are similar in terms of facilities which is why I feel able to provide ratings. With regard to others' comments about the lifts being small, at least they have lifts. I don't think they are that small as two of us with large suitcases could fit comfortably enough. I was very impressed with the free internet access and provision of a laptop in the rooms. My only issue was the lack of mirrors in the room although therewas one in the bathroom. Two girls sharing a room need more than one mirror!Overall I thought it was excellent value for money and I would definitely recommend staying there.

well situated hotel but there were workmen present both times our family stayed which meant limited access to our rooms and noise at 9.00 am. The cots advertised for the family room were good except that the top one had no barrier to stop people falling out!! Toilet was broken in our room on the first stay. Upon our 2nd visit the family room was not available so we were given 2 adjoining double bedded rooms- not ideal for our kids.Generally very well situated and worth a stay although better deals may be available elsewhere.

Loved the location of the hotel, right beside Plaza Mayor - wasn't noisy at all on a Monday night!

Stayed here with my husband and two adolescent children. It was perfect for us -- central location (100 metres from Plaza Mayor), affordable, modern comfortable room, internet in room (so kids could check in to Facebook) -- it was just what we needed. I would highly recommend it!

Quiet hotel in pedestrianised area (that does mean a walk from the taxi drop off though!) . Well decorated. The advertised bar did not exist- although plenty of bars & restaurants around and at nearby Plaza Mayor. Buffet style breakfast good value.

The location of the hotel was very good-easy to get to by metro from the airport and accessible for the major sites of interest. We felt we were really in the midst of things but could return to base easily for a rest or siesta before hitting the town again.Because of the central location and availability of cafes and bars we did not use the hotel for eating. Our family room was very spacious and convenient-our children aged 11 and 15 enjoyed the exercise bike. The free broadband and use of a lap top was very convenient also.
