Very disappointing... Spent the first three nights with minimal sleep due to the 24hr Charlie Chans Bar on the bottom floor. We asked to be moved after the first night but weren't allowed. The toilet was broken & wouldn't flush, the air conditioning was out of action for a night & you can't open windows. More a backpacker then a boutique hotel. I'm not usually fussy but would not stay here again.

this hotel was in a very convenient situation,it was fairly basic ,but clean quiet and comfortable and for Sydney city, reasonably priced.

Great location right in China Town ... Closes to shops, movies, theatre. light rail and train. Would stay again.

Only a central light in room and no bedside tables and not enough light to read a book prior to sleeping!

What a great hotel, the price and location are fabulous, what more could you want!

Very disappointing! On arrival at the hotel in the evening the reception desk was unmanned. The room was quite a shock...basic,more like a backpackers hostel room than a 'boutique hotel'.No tea/coffee facilities in the room. The elevator worked only occasionally so guests had to walk up several levels of stairs. This was not a physical problem for us, but certainly was for other elderly guests in the hotel at the time. Happily, the receptionist on duty the following morning was much more congenial than the one we encountered the previous evening. However, we would not recommend this hotel to friends!

Services in the counter is very good and friendly. But housekeepers need to do their best. Sometimes they didn't vacuum the floor and they never changed empty shampoo. Overally I recommend this hotel to stay in Sydney. The location is good to visit all good sighting places and shopping places in Sydney.

Sufficient toilet facilities, clean, tidy hotel, excellent location with convenient access to Central station and Chinatown. Helpful and polite staff.

I would stay here again, very handy to chinatown, paddys market & transport. Just make sure you don't get a front room as very noisy.

The rooms are very small and cramped, but that is my only negative comment. I would say a bit overpriced for the size of the room

Great location: next to Chinatown, walking distance to Darling Harbour, free green bus at front door. Room is not fancy but cozy & practical with tidy & clean bathroom. Locker and kitchen facilities are convenient. Only the staff is so so. But we can survive with that, lol.... Overall, we are happy with our stay under this PRICE !!!

It's a very basic hotel. And if you are on the George Street side, expect an early wake up call with the traffic

it felt as if the rooms were laid out to ensure the maximum number of rooms could be accommodated on each floor. Our room had 2 single beds as well as bunk beds, but there were only 2 of us so the additional beds made the room very cramped. However, we only used the room for sleep but I still think we should have paid less for what we got. The location won me over in the end, it was right in the middle of Chinatown and close to shops, restaurants, supermarket, Darling Harbour and train station

Pensione Hotel was the biggest disappointment. It is more of a hostel than anything else. We stayed in a (tiny!!) room facing the back alley because we were told the George street side was too noisy. That was a mistake. All night we heard people at the bar down below, and it didn't quiet down until 4 a.m. The worst part, because smoking is allowed on the fire escape of the hotel (which happened to be outside our room) and people puff away endlessly at the bar below, our bathroom and consequently our room stank of smoke. And oh, the location. It is right on the edge of China town, which gets rather grimy, especially at night, and has a fair share of adult stores. If you are fine staying in the hostel, this place may be acceptable. If you expect a "funky boutique hotel" that the website promises, you will be sorely disappointed.

You can prepare your own meal in the guest lounge, there is a microwave, an electical cooking unit, water boiler and dishes, pots and pans. You can do your laundry for Aus$ 3 + $3 for drying. There is a smoking area in the lounge. (Paid) wireless internet is available in the guest lounge, not in the rooms. Lockers for luggage are available. All rooms in the hotel can be reached from outside through a stairway (reception desk doesn't really pay attention who uses the stairs), which might cause some security issues.

perfect location. cooking facilities and breakfast room pretty big, while rooms were small, but alright if you don't stay in the hotel all the time. Although located right on george street not noisy (but we had a room in 4th level out the back). bathroom and room was clean but nothing special (alright for the price). staff always friendly and helpful and tour booking available at reception. all in all a good hotel for its price. i would stay here again.

Rooms are small, but if you just want somewhere to sleep that's cheap, this is OK.
