location great, but poor service, and poor rooms. The bathroom had no shower curtain, and the slope was away from the drain. Lighting was poor. I had to move a lamp into the bathroom to shave and was worried about being electricuted with the water on the floor. The maid missed my room 1 of 2 days, the cafe was open 1 of 3 days, and the bar never did open. The front desk didn't know the city and gave me wrong directions. There are many other hotels in melbourne.

receptionistsThe young ladies at the reception desk did a great job of providing helpful information. Bathroom layout could be improved - the basin was too close to the shelf.

Fulfilled its claimed facilities without incident, proximity to the Yarra being amongst the most imnportant

My staythe first thing we were told that there was no restaurant so we would have to get breakfast ekswhere, not a good start. no room service. the room was very small and the shower hard to use, especially for my husband who is a big man. the location was, for us at least, was in the right place. the hotel was quiet, which is what we like. they need to get staff who know the city, its important to be able to trust the staff for directions. also they need more city information in their rooms.

Great Little Place on Spencer StreetWe had to find some reasonably priced accommodation for a single night in Melbourne. We caught the Skybus from the airport expecting to have to leave our bags and come back later to check in. We arrived and checked in straight away and were able to put our bags in the room straight away. The room was clean and compact. The bed was very comfortable and the staff were helpful. Happy Hour at the bar was fantastic...watching the world go by during Melbourne peak hour traffic is always interesting. Close to the station, walking distance to some excellent restaurants and if you are interested in the casino scene - it is just over the bridge. Highly recommend.

We were very happy with the Pensione Hotel. The staff were excellent, very friendly, and welcoming. They went out of their way to help us with our luggage, (we had alot, and were down the road from the hotel) They gave us excellent information about the city, and where to eat, we went with their recommendations and were really pleased. The location was great, so easy to get around, and having our own card access to get in when we wanted after hours was great. The room was very clean and had all you needed to make our stay comfortable. Will definately recommend Pensione Hotel to our friends who are travelling to Melbourne in December.

An excellent Hotel, in an excellent location. There was a bit of a slip up with a lack of cutlery (no teaspoon) in the room. But this was resolved with a gracious apology and more than made up for when I discovered that I'd left some equipment in my room after my departure, and they offered to send it to me when they found it. I have stayed in the Melbourne CBD many times, in many hotels, but the Pensione Hotel Melbourne is a clear winner. While they do not offer breakfast internally, there is a discount arrangement with a local cafe which works out well.

We stayed overnight and we found the hotel to be perfect for our 1 night stay. The room wasn't very big but they have made good use of the space. Room was clean, great TV and fantastic colours in the room. The only critiscm was as the bathroom was small and how the shower was designed there wasn't a screen as such and this caused the bathmat to get wet. To be honest as we were only staying 1 night it wasn't a massive concern for us but if you were staying longer you would have to order a new bathmat each day. Something as little as this could be overlooked due to the central location,(and no street noise was heard in the evening), good value for money and great little bar. Definately recommend to others and would return again.

Rooms quite small - but clean. Great location in the city. Would probably request a larger room and be prepared to pay extra for it next time

I am a wheelchair user and appreciated the roll in wet room. Lots of hand rails to keep me safe and a shower seat. Staff helpful, location excellent, just a few mintes form superb restaurants and visitor facilities. If we had to visit Melborne again, we would stay there for certain.

A little piece of Europe? The name attracted us to try this hotel and we were not disappointed. Clean, friendly, well located and great value for money. Overall a very good experience. The only real criticism is that the shower caused the bathroom floor to become soaked!

The hotel is great for the price and location and the staff were really lovely and helpful. You can pretty much catch a tram to anywhere from the stops very close by. My only concern was that the hotel is right next door to the backpackers, and the residents there can get a bit loud late at night. The room facilities are pretty basic, but they have mostly everything you need. Beds are comfortable.

Rooms small but very clean, modern and well appointed. Good location near Southern Cross Station and tram lines on Collins and Flinders streets. Staff were outstanding: responsive, helpful, smiling and patient. Only gripe was that the elevator was quite slow.

Shower CurtainsJust one thing that the shower in the room would spray water through the whole bathroom curtains or a screen could easily rectify this

This was a gift to my parents. I had stayed at the hotel myself and been very pleased with it. It's value for money, a great location, clean and quiet. They were very pleased with their two nights there and said that they would be more than happy to return.

Funky, great colour scheme, really comfortable rooms and terrific beds. Mmmm slept like a rock. Lovely friendly staff, nothing is a problem. I will stay their nexct time I go to Melbourne and would recommend it! Only negative is that it didnt have a cafe/resturant. I had to cart food in or go out for meals.

Pensione MentionPerfect position - clean quiet, good staff - couldn't get better - have stayed at much higher star accommodation with much less comfort
