This is a nice place to stay, room was clean & comfortable,very handy for town & races,free parking.The room doesn't have a wash basin or tea making facilities, which is fine if you like to share the kitchen & dining room. Our room was a twin downstairs, a bit inconvenient using the upstairs bathroom/toilet. If you go take a bathrobe. Great for access to everywhere, no taxis required. Owner is very friendly and not in your face! This would be a good place to book with a group of family/friends.

Excellent location right in central Chester; Good value basic accomodation3 rooms in a house right next to Chester high street. Excellent loaction if you are planning a night out in Chester. Owner was very friendly and helpful.Rooms clearly not like your normal hotel - really more like staying in a house for the night, All clean and well furnished.Excellent value given the location.

accomadation was clean and the lady who ran it was friendly, the location was fantastic right in the centre, the only thing i found was the description on internet was misleading, the accomadtion is a 2 bedroom house made into 3 guest rooms using the downstairs room as extra bedroom, the bathroom is shared betweek the 3 rooms it was fine but should explain this on internet!

Meg's 40th weekendAranged a weekend away for my mates 40th birthday, we stayed at the Pennies, all the lads were well pleased with the accomodation, superb location, dead central. Nice clean bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen facilities. Couldn't fault it for value for money, will be sprading the word. H

Pennies ChesterPennies is an Edwardian house, which means that although you have to share a bathroom, you also get the use of the kitchen. Louise (the owner) met us on time, and allowed us to leave our things in the house the next day until 3 p.m. We were the only people staying and so had the bathroom to ours. The house was clean and nicely furnished. The house is also extremely central and in walking distance to the river, the canal, the Roman walls, and the centre of Chester.

Pennies Guest House - great!We stayed at pennies in March 09 and it was a really lovely stay, the owners were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and bright and the kitchen was clean and we were told to help ourselves to tea, coffee etc. The only downside to staying at pennies was the shared bathroom, although clean and bright there is no shower, just a bath and when everyone is trying to get ready o go out in the evening and there is some selfish person having a soak in the bath and everyone is needing to use the toilet, brush their teeth and get washed, we ended up having to go out without a wash and desperate for the loo. I would definately recommend pennies chester to anyone looking for a short break in chester, it is right in the centre of the city but still lovely and quiet. We stayed two nights and it was lovely but would have struggled staying longer due to the bathroom situation but overall a wonderful stay - Thank You Pennies!

Very friendly staff, fantastic location (literally in the city centre). Excellent place for a stop over or budget weekend. Reviews elsewhere described this as a shared house. Whilst it might be a shared house during term time, there were no issues with noise or indeed noisy neighbours whilst we were there. We slept like babies.

The room was very tidy and comfortable. The house is superbly positioned about 300 yards off the main shopping street and some of the main bars. The accommodation is ideally positioned for a shopping break or a night out. No food available but there is a kitchen which can be used and a tesco just across the road. We were not disturbed by any noise and you wouldnt know that you were so close to the centre of town. The only bad point was that there is no fitted shower just a hose attachment for the bath and the day we were there there was no shower curtain surrounding the bath which made washing awkward. Other than this we had a fully enjoyable stay and would definitely return to this accommodation.

The central location was great, and it was a relief to have somewhere to park the car.Sharing the kitchen/dining room with an apparently long-term guest made us feel a little as though we were gate-crashing.And we were surprised to find that we had to use the shower sitting down in the bath.But these quirky little things all add to the adventure of travelling.

we stayed at the Pennies in Chester the weekend of the Races, it was in a fantastic location, we could walk to the Races in ten minutes, it is right in the centre of Chester, great for night life and bars. The Guest House, it a small 2 bedroom house with front room converted into 3rd room, ideal for a group of friends of family. We would definately use again, and must say it was great value for money. There is a tesco straight across the road for any food or essentials you may need. Louis and Sue (the owners) were very helpful and friendly also, thanks girls.
