i was here for a weekend trip. the only thing that really needs some attention is the complimentary breakfast. im not one to complain, but for the money paid and costs of the rooms, the breakfast should have been better.

This is the place to stay. Right next door to UNEXSO a great dive operation. Steps from all the Restaurants in the square. Across the road from the Beach & Casino. Don't rent a car unless you have a serious death wish. They all drive like bad on the Island including the Taxi's. Don't pay up front for taxi service to/from the airport, likely he won't show up to pick you up to go home. Taxi fare should be $ 15 each way establish the rate before you get in the cab. THAT"S 15 TOTAL COST MON each way, TOTAL NOT PER PERSON !

The things we liked most about Pelican Bay were the location and the price. The rooms are nice, although the bathroom vanities could be a little bigger. The Front Desk staff was friendly, but not particularly helpful. The head bellman, who doubles as a concierge, made our stay a success. He knows everything, and goes the extra mile every day. Find him, trust him, and have a great time!

This was my second trip to Pelican Bay and I was a little disappointed. Although the standard gardenview room was huge, the tub appeared filthy. I asked to have it cleaned and it was but it was permanently stained. The property is beautiful with three swimming pools and a jacuzzi. The staff is generally nice. I did have an unpleasant brush with the staff, however, in which two bartenders kept repeating "See ya!" in an unpleasant tone as if to dismiss me quickly.

I would highly recommend the Pelican Bay Hotel. It has a very good location, stuff is very friendly and it is the cheapest in the area. It is great that they offer breakfast in the morning, so you do not need to go out and look for restaurants where you could eat. We were going to the Taino beach which was nicer than the one in Sheraton/Westin (shuttle boat to the beach is free for Pelican Bay guests). It is not crowded and it was possible to use excellent swimming pool from the local Resort/Hotel. Pelican Bay's restaurant, Sabor, was also very good, although little bit pricey. They make the best cocktails in the area. Just be aware that the food on the whole island is not that great. Almost everything is deep fried.

Since it rained most of the time, I was pleased that we did have a great room since we spent most of our time there.

i stayed at that pelican resort hotel at lucaya together with my boyfriend for 5 days. it was very very nice. i expect always alot, so inform myself very good. and i can tell you will not be dissapointed if you choose the deluxe room. the room has alot of space and is very nice. the bed is comfortable and the bathroom is clean. they clean every day, what is very nice. the breakfast is o.k. its free and for that it is even great. i can tell you that we tried many restaurants around and the restaurant by the pool on the bayside at this hotel is the best. there fish and coconat sorbey are amazing!! if i would go back i would just eat there!!! the other restaurants have preatty same priceses but are for sure not that good!! all in all we enjoyed staying there. very calm and very nice vewi too. you cant want more!

There are better known and ritzier resorts, but if you want to truly relax and enjoy the Bahamas then this is the place for you. Great location even though you will need to walk across the street to get to the beach. Three nice pools, location is on the bay side of Port Lucaya. The beauty in that is it is very relaxing to watch the boats come and go by the pool. Continental breakfast is great and on the water every morning. Staff are some of the best people you will meet. Port Lucaya Marketplace is right next door. Restaurants and shopping closer than any other resort.

This was our third time at Pelican Bay. We got married here last year--we celebrated our 1 year anniversary. I can't say enough about the staff. They are friendly, helpful and hospitable. The hotel is different--not your typical chain hotels. The rooms are large, always kept clean, includes a fun continental breakfat in am . You have acces to its sister hotel with a great beach. It's in a fabuolus location. Ans the onsite restaraunt is unbelievable. I can't say enough good things!!

The staff, the location, the activities are among the best. Perfectly located next to Unexso for dolphin and diving activities, a short walk to the beach, another short walk to the market place for any type of food desired. The people of Freeport are always friendly and kind. We will return to Pelican Bay as often as possible!

We started off with a double-bed room, which was not very clean and smelled old. We had a flooding incident in our room, but the staff immediately provided a suite for our trouble. The suite was heavenly, and in fact, was what I envisioned from the website. Having a suite is the best option. Staying here also gave us access to two beaches, but Taino beach was the best.

Our room had an adjoning door to the next room and our neighbors were noisy and rude, so request a room without the door. Also, the pools were not heated and were too cold for swimming when we were there in early March. The rest of the accomodations were excellent and I would highly recommend Pelican Bay.

i was expecting a kitchenette, we got a sm fridge. I had to ask for a micro wave. it didn't work right had to ask for another. dresser drawer was full of garbage. they came and removed it and wiped the drawer out with a napkin. my clothes stayed in my suitcase. there was thick dust around the base of the night stand.pubic hair in the tub, fingerprints on bathroom door and around switch. i cleaned those. i booked snorkeling with sea safari snorkeling through cheap tickets. we were unable to go because it was too windy. I called 5x's to see if it was available. when I got home cheaptickets told me I probably couldn't get a refund because it was a past package.my stay was April 28 - May 1. may 4th I had surgery on my shoulder. I told cheapticket rep that i got home friday nite and would be in the hospital monday so i couldn't call back. i e mailed sea safari and asked them for a refund. they have not responded. this was suppose to be a special trip for my sister because her husband died and then she had cancer for the 4th time. i would like a refund for the snorkeling but am not getting much help. i also wanted her to see the beach at lacoya national park. booked a tour. it was cancelled due to not enough signed up. after i explained our situation they did send someone over to give us the tour and my sister was able to stay at the beach longer. we appreciated that. however when we got to the park it was on fire and we were not able to see all the caves only one. we went to the old straw market behind the international bazzar and enjoyed those ladies very much. we toured the perfume factory, that was interesting. Most of the staff at the hotel were very friendly and tried to make things right. the hotel was just not what was on the web site.

The hotel is better than we expected. The location is great, and the people are friendly. Pros: -Great Location -Nice view of ocean from room -Free ferry to Taino Beach (place to go for water sports) -Close to local shopping & retail shopping -Walking distance to Casino -Hotel offered free pastries in the morning, delivered to the room -Offers free DVD player & DVD movies for guest to use -Offered candles to guests (power went out over the island during our stay) Cons: -Cable tv signal was weak, very staticky -Watch out for timeshare salespersons when inquiring on jetski/scooter/tour rentals -The availability of the DVD player is scarce. We were unable to use it even after numerous requests -International bazaar is no longer operational. Do not waste taxi fare travelling there -Local restaurants automatically add gratuity despite overall slow island service(this can be attributed to overall laidback atmosphere of the island so it is expected). I recommend the English Pub for a good meal. For entertainment, I recommend the Jet Ski Island Tour on Taino Beach.

First room was absoultly terrible, paid for an upgrade to move into a suite bedroom was dark, dirty, poorly designed, continental breakfast was a joke. For what I paid I could have stayed at the Westin and I did for the remainder of my trip, I would have moved sooner but could not cancel since I booked with Orbitz. Not recomended

Hotel was clean and comfortable, although furniture and rooms were a bit dated. Can't beat the location next to Port Lucaya Marketplace and UNEXSO diving. Service was good and front-desk staff helpful for the most part, although rooms were made up later in the day. Continental breakfast is included which is good value. Multiple pools added variety and kept any from being too crowded. Rooms facing the Sabor restaurant may be loud due to the music that is sometimes blasted from that area.

The staff was soooo friendly. We got a king bed that was very comfortable. The room had all the amenities (iron, hair dryer, in room safe, coffee maker and complimentary coffee, shampoo, body wash, hand soap, lotions). It was very clean and appealing. There is a coin laundry on the premises. There is construction going on but it doesn't bother anyone what so ever. We never felt inconvenienced at all. There is a business center but we didn't make use of it. The continental breakfast (which is free) is great. A variety of breads, cereals, sandwich meats, juices, eggs, hot beverages, and fruits are readily available. We didn't eat at any of the hotel restaurants, but we did get a complimentary drink at SABOR (which is right by the pool and hot tub.) The hotel pools (three) were all very clean , well kept, and nice to use.

"We were very pleased with whole Bahamas weekend getaway. The people were never put out and it seemed generally interested in chatting and exchanging pleasantries. Location of this hotel is amazing. On the quiet side of the Our Lucaya properties, with a great marina view. The beach was about a two block walk which we enjoyed. Excellent bar and proximity to The Marketplace. Pool areas are a bit dull, but everything else made up for it. Taino Beach Resort pool is worth the 5 min. ferry ride. Nice to have a free, albeit sparce continental breakfast each morning."
