This was a fantastic place to stay. Without doubt one of the best hotels I have stayed in with probably the best value for money deal ever! The owners are to be congratulated for what they have achieved. Breakfast was very good although we were slightly disappointed with our dinner the evening before.

This is definitely the best hotel that I have ever stayed at - the hotel is a medieval castle situated on top of a hill overlooking Cheshire. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant was the best meal that I have ever tasted, and very reasonably priced. The residents bar is a converted wine cellar and was only lit by candlelight and is the nicest and best bar that I have ever been in!! Definitely recommend it for anybody that is looking for a hotel

The food was excellent The castle itself is a isolated on the top of a hill in the middle of a thick forest and on midweek day was peaceful only disturbed by the peacocks and a rather angry looking Harris Hawk peace perfect peace

Memorable hotelWe stayed for one night and the hotel is beautiful. We were very pleased at how quiet our room was (apart from the early morning wake-up call courtesy of the peacocks). The bed was really comfortable, the tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits etc were most welcome and the only slightly negative point was that the bath water wasn't very hot and the toilet didn't flush that well. The breakfast however, was the best that we have ever had in a hotel and there was such a lot of choice. The staff were all most polite and helpful. At £59 through Laterooms, this was a marvellous experience and really excellent value. We wouild love to return.

You detinately will enjoy this hotelThis is a lovely hotel which I definately would love to stay in again.The room was amazing with its high celings and huge bed.The customer service was brilliant and very freindly and the restaurant food was good.Would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Live like a King Wow! This is a really special place to stay. A proper castle set in a beautiful woodland complete with portcullis, long spooky corridors and birds of prey. A winding drive leads you through the forest 'til you arrive at the front gate of the castle. Drive through the arched stone gateway into the impressive courtyard where you can park whilst you check-in. Nice touch where they provide a car park slightly off site which avoids cluttering up the beautiful views of the castle. The interior is splendid and the rooms are nicely furnished. The only downside was a couple of noisy peacocks, but their beautiful appearance made up for the din they created. They also conveniently shut up around 10.30. Very civilised. A great stay which I could highly recommend. Would love to spend more time there.

Good value for moneyThe hotel is itself is very nice. The room was of a high standard but the bathroom let it down, there was a damp smell in the bathroom.It was excellent value for money at £65 per room including breakfast. Don't eat that the restaurant though, the food is overpriced and not that good. One of the waitresses is very rude. There is a good pub about 2 miles down the road called the Durham Heiffer.There are peacocks roaming round the grounds of the hotel which are nice to look at but they are very noisy. They didn't stop making noise throughout the night so if you are a lightsleeper I'd recommend some ear plugs!

Our two day midweek stay was absolutely fabulous. The quality of the accommodation was first class, the staff were engaging and friendly, the breakfasts were delicious. The surroundings were brilliant - we had a room overlooking the green with the delightful peafowl in constant view. There is only one negative to this experience and this is not the quality of the food. An evening meal in the restaurant is a gourmet's delight but beware, the quantity is, at best, suitable only to those persons who have a small appetite.

A stay with a differenceWe had a wonderful over nighter at Peckforton. What a bargin, a real castle in a beautiful part of the country. We were guests at a wedding there and originally intended to drive the 50 miles home. But at the last minute I was not well so I thought if I could book a room then I could manage the evening reception. I only booked 2 hours before we arrived so got great deal with Laterooms. The room could have been a bit bigger and possibly with a bath, but hey at half of what the other wedding guests had paid we were more than happy. The breakast was really good and served in a lovely room overlooking the grounds. The staff were friendly and efficient. Thank you.

SuperbGreat alternative venue off the beaten track if you want peace and quiet and great food. I hesitate to recommend more of you go because I don't want it to be full next time I try to book.

An enjoyable experienceIt is not very often that you have the opportunity to stay in a castle and this was most enjoyable. Position a mile from the main road the Hotal was very quiet with large grounds to walk round and excellent views. Service was good and the rooms quite large, although some more detailed cleaning would not go amiss as there were dusty ledges and many cobwebs. Do check though, if they have booked a wedding during your stay ( and they have many) because as in our case, the reception went on into the early hours and it was impossible to sleep for the noise. We would still recommend though, just for the experience.

A different experience, certainly not your standard boring looking hotel

Never AgainThe outside is amazing but inside is a disappointment. The furnishings are sparse in communal area, the bar was not open & all very unwelcoming. The room smelt musty & wardrobe door handle was broken. Having a shower was extremely slippy as no bath mat. The floor boards creaked so no chance of a lie- in. Customer service needs improving and if you decide to do the Eagle Encounter, beware, it is grossly overpriced & one only has @ 20mins with the eagle.Had a fire alarm during breakfast & although we were all eventually told to leave the building, no-one checked off our names.

I Loved this Hotel!What an absolute delight - if you are looking for the experience of staying in a real life castle, this is for you. Restored to accommodate your every need, yet has kept original features from its history. The setting for weddings must be incredible, the grounds are superb - a great eary feeling in your room at night! Mandy - Yorkshire
