Parque Maritimo el Coco

Just 18 kilometers south of San Juan del Sur is situated Parque Maritimo el Coco, a resort specially conceive to relax our guests in a peaceful and relaxing nature environment. While your stay enjoy unique activities on the beach or at the surrounding areas of Parque Maritimo el Coco like; Football, Volleyball, Frisbee, horse or bicycle riding to the nearby villas or into the jungle to observe Black Howler monkeys (Alouatta caraya), birds, butterflies, and other kinds of animals. At night you can visit playa la Flor, a sanctuary for endanger marine turtles. On nesting periods of the marine turtle Paslama (Lepidochelys oliveacea) you can observe up to 20,000 turtles on a period of time of four days. During the day you can take a boat tour nearby playa la flor and playa el Coco where marine turtles can be seen mating. With a bit of luck you can see dolphins or whales on some periods of the year. Another tour you can take is to Bolanos island on the boundaries of Costa Rica and Nicaragua, a sanctuary for frigatebirds (Fregata magnificens) and other marines birds like pelicans.
