| Excellent location.
This is an OLD building, with great character and large lounges. So if you want a large room, ask for the new wing (no character).
Unfortunately, the main road it is located on (Damrak) is rather sleazy, with lots of sex shops - a bit comparable to the Brussels Sheraton area.
The story goes that the very popular Mayor wants to get rid of the illegal shops and 'up-leuk' it a little.
Great breakfast, all trams and buses withing 2 minutes, direct connection to the airport (EUR 3,90) and any other tourist spot.
Would highly recommend friends and enemies. |

While the room was very comfortable, the bathroom was tiny. The closet space was very generous. The location was perfect for tourists, especially those arriving by plane because the train from the airport to the train station was very convenient, and the hotel is within easy walking distance from the train station. Canal boats are nearby, and tour busses load nearby also. The hotel has a large dining area for breakfast, but for other meals it has only a small bistro where it cost $6.00 for a glass of orange juice. There are many eating places close to the hotel. Amsterdam is very expensive.

I stayed here 3 years ago and was suprised how much it "aged" in that time - probably from the high traffic of clients. Location is fantastic if you are on foot travelling via train station with luggage. I read a review and it mentioned the carpet and that is the first thing I noticed. It needs to be cleaned throughout the hotel - lobby area, walkways and the individual rooms. It's just dirty. The rest is okay. It's not the place to "hang out" for considerable time in your room (my opinion only - everyone needs are subjective). It's great for the pit stop while hitting the streets and for sleeping. Beds are great - it's rated 4 star - I would say more like 3.5 - I would stay here again, but just for a night, like I did, so it made it easy for me to catch the train to the airport the next morning. I say this because I stayed at another hotel nearby that I can compare it too - different location and about * more a night - big difference. So, it boils down too - you get what you pay for and that is not the hotel's fault. Price was reasonable and suited my purpose. I would give it a 7 out of 10

My fiance and I went there for 4 days. Firstly, it was in the most perfect location. Literally a minutes walk from the station. The check-in was easy, staff friendly and the room was great. It was clean, fairly contemporary and we had a great view over the station and the main roads. Drinks at the bar were a little pricey, but then most drinks at hotels are. Dining room was lovely and food was nice though didn't eat there all that much to be honest. We wanted to go out and experience the city. We were close to all the main tourist sights, and everything was walking distance, besides the Van Goch Museum and Rijksmuseum which are a tram ride away. Also, round the corner from the famous Grasshopper Pub, a "brown cafe" with a great vibe, and fairly decent food. If you are there for at least 3 days, I would recommend getting the I love Amsterdam Card. For those who love pasta and pizza, there is a fantastic little Italian restaurant just around the corner to the right of the hotel. Brilliant food, atmosphere and service. Would definitely go back there.

The hotel was excellent , being opposite the central station & adjacent to most canal boat terminals . The staff all were very friendly & helpful . When booking in the reception said " you asked for a room with a view - do you want a view of the station or canal" The room was amazing being on 2 levels & recently renovated . It contained massive beams`& the original timber wheel used to lift things into what was the top floor of a house which later was incorporated into the hotel . Whilst a very busy location , day & night no noise came into our room . One of our best hotel experiences .

Best location if you plan to see Amsterdam. The hotel is located directly across from Central Station so you can take the train (about 4 euros) from Schipol airport which saves a good amount of money over taking either a bus or a cab. The hotel is right alongside the beginning of the infamous Red Light district. I traveled alone and was on a budget. You do well for the money with this place. The concierge was very helpful in finding the only sports bar open till 4am so that I could watch the SuperBowl. Everyone speaks perfect English. The beds were very comfortable, but I can imagine they would be too short if you are much taller than 6 ft. There is a restaurant downstairs that appeared to be quite popular for breakfast. The bar stays open late. You can smoke your material of choice in the hotel, but not in the room (at least not in the rooms in my tower). They will store your luggage after you check out if you need them to. Check-out time is very reasonable at 12pm. The famous Grasshopper coffee shop is just across from the hotel and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, including several Brazilian and Argentinian steakhouses. Great place to set up base of operations to see the city.

When we arrived they didn't our reservation in their computer and 4 different front desk people told us that we MAY (or may not) be able to get a room. No one ever apologized and they told us we would be "lucky" if we could get a room. We had a confirmed printed reservation when we arrived. We also had a printed email from the hotel confirming that reservation. We made the reservation 4 months before. They ended up sticking us in a smoking room for our entire 6 night stay which wrecked our whole 6 night experience. The carpets needing replacing and the bathroom trim had a giant piece missing. They did replace our broken tv after the second day of us complaining thanks to our maid helping us, but the the new replacement tv was tiny and Motel 6 would have been embarrassed had they treated us this way. All was amazing to us as we had paid 2,439.45 for just 6 days Positives? Great location and the included breakfasts were very good..

The hotel is in a perfect loaction, straight across from central amsterdam station and 2mins walking and you hit the main tourist streets. We had a superior room - the room was very clean but nothing superior about it for the price we paid, they pushed two twin beds togther to for a double which was quite uncomfortable. The staff were very polite and kept our luggage safe as we were early to check in and after we checked out they still looked after our luggage which was very helpful. We didn't use the hotel bar or resturant but from what I saw they looked nice. We called to request a iron/board, within 5 mins this was done - very efficeint. I would stay here again and reccomend it to anyone who wants nice, clean, safe and very central accomadation in amsterdam.

Trip was biz and pleasure. Hotel couldn't be easier to find for natives and visitors, adjacent to central train station, central tram station, and largest canal tour operators. Clean, comfortable, and efficient, and a few block walk to most attractions. I recommend a day pass on the tram for hop-on-hop-off convenience. Saw 90% of the city(exept museums) in a day and a half. Next time, Amsterdam gets 3 days minimum.

Large room for European standards. Room extremely clean. Restaurant onsite was good. Good location near train, restaurants, shopping. We were able to walk everywhere in the city ( we like to walk). Breakfast buffet was excellent; check to make sure its included in the room rate, ours wasn't, but it was worth the extra money. Only complaint was bed comfort, it was way too soft. I would recommend this hotel to others.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of Amsterdam's central train station. The staff are friendly and helpful as well as having excellent English skills. They have non-smoking rooms but they are quite a hoof from the front of the hotel. The restaurant has a limited menu but the food is good. The hotel is in the middle of a shopping district with plenty of restaurants and cafes close by.

Very easy to find you can see it when you come out of the station. Central for all areas. Only comment although my room was no smoking it smelt like it had been used for smoking at some point, I was out most of the time this was a minor issue.

I was surprised to have the sum of money (except the hotel rates and charges) blocked from the credit card for the guaranty. I was traveling in Europe (Paris, Brusseles and etc.) and also made booking from your system, but never my monies were blocked. Possible this can be considered reasonable but the person (guest) should be informed about it in advance. And as a result some of funds were blocked instead of being spent in the city. But I need to say that Hotel Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam is quite nice place to stay in Amsterdam. Really it has very convenient location and all the necessary facilities.
