Park Plaza CardiffWonderful room; great pool, pleasant staff. Am I the only traveller who finds the little red flashing lights on the smoke alarm an annoyance once I've turned out the lights and am ready to go to sleep? It just isn't the last thing I want to see before I go to sleep!

After struggling to be comfortable in many country hotels/guest houses and B&Bs it was a joy to return to room that was spacious and a shower with large amounts of hot water. Not cheap but with the Bush $, nothing in the UK is these days.

What I expected I suppose for this type of hote. Three things to improve:1. Wi-fi facilities please2. The pool was pretty cold.3. The cost of movies at £8.99 was excessiveOther than that, nothing out of the ordinary really which might say it all.

Fantastic HotelThis hotel is gorgeous. Lovely clean room. Pool facilities are great. Would definitely stay here again if in Cardiff. Overall a very nice short sty right in the heart of the city.

Park PlazaThe room was an internal room, which made it very dark and unwelcoming. It was also very narrow and long and therefore not that usable. We had assumed this was a typical room for last minute bookings. The kettle also did not work.Leisure facilities and reception were very good.

Nice Hotel - Avoid the room serviceOvernight stay in the Park Plaza whilest meeting a friend. The hotel looked modern and well designed, the service was great, the rooms were more than adequate and quite good value. However my overriding memory from the stay will be of the extortionate price of room service. £29.50 for 2 toasted pininis and a OJ! For me, of Cardiff, for two Pininis!!! I though that was over the top. - They wen't even that nice! Verdict: Stay in the hotel, but for God sake don't do order in!

Review for Park Plaza Hotel CardiffAs soon as I stepped into the hotel, the service was second to none with a very charming lady on reception. This was echoed the following morning with fabulous service and advice from the Night Manager. Overall, this was a very pleasant stay and deserving of its award. It was v clean, had everything you could need for an over night stay. I did not use any of the facilities as it was a very quick stay, but the standards around the hotel were very high.

short very enjoyable stayWe only stayed the one night at this hotel but were sufficiently impressed to have wondered about staying anopther night. The quality of the room was excellent. It was bright, airy and the high ceilings added a touch of class. All the facilities in the room were first class. We did not actually eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the restaurant but if the desk service and the room itself are anything to go by then this is a top rate hotel. We have stayed at other city centre hotels in Cardiff and this beats them by some distance.

Great room with one downsideThe hotel is located right in the heart of Cardiff, by Bute park and the Castle. The actual street does have a lot of clubs but there are plenty of rooms not facing this street. The room we had however had an adjoining room and in the morning we discovered to our horror that the doors are not locked and had our neighbours been enterprising we would not have woken up with our possessions intact, or worse. So if you have an adjoining room, worth trying it upon arrival!

Excellent hotel all roundDon't be put off by the concrete exterior or the worn out beige carpets. The room was clean, the bathroom did everything expected of it, breakfast was good, staff extra friendly. And I had free access to the gym and free wifi (which worked) in my room. I'd definitely go there again especially if I can get a room at the same discounted price.

Great place to stay in the heart of CardiffWe have stayed in most of the big hotels in Cardiff and found the Park Plaza to be one of the best - the room was very spacious and well designed, public areas modern but not OTT, a bit of an oasis from the busy street outside. Did not have breakfast but dined in as a table of 4 in the evening - food was good (except for 1 starter which was very dry, bland and boring), service excellent and unfussy. The bar is funky and well used so was a nice place to get back to before heading to the room. Would certainly stay again.

An overnighter in CardiffAn impressive hotel. Swanky and modern. There are a few criticisms though. I paid an extra £30 for the 'Executive' package. Unfortunately, they didn't enable the films and the wine and chocolates were not in the room when we arrived. The mini bar was locked as it had not been mentioned on checking in that you have to carry out a separate card swipe of £50 to have it electronically opened. Minor but annoying all the same when you are paying £170 for a night in a hotel. That price doesn't include breakfast but we did have our evening meal there which was great considering we had not booked a table. As a resident we only had to wait 15 minutes in the adjoining bar so that was also great. A popular upmarket bar with a fantastic vibe. I would recommend the hotel but the staff that dealt with me seemed a bit dippy. Nice but dim.It does have a smarrt gym with ultra modern facilities. We used this, the pool and the steam room that is all within the hotel. All gratis if you are staying there. Top notch really.

I had originally booked to stay in a single room (no double availability) therefore was pleasantly surprised to find a double room upon entering - albeit with disabled facilties.Very comfortable surroundings, room service took less time than promised - good.Wish my stay had been longer to allow for use of the leisure faciltiies.
