Fab hotel & great locationWe stayed at the Park Hotel at the start of our travels through the Peloponnese. As it was our first time to Greece we wanted to make sure that we saw a bit of Athens of course. The location of the hotel is fantastic, a five minute walk takes you to a variety of restaurants as well as the Metro (which is great by the way - clean, safe, reliable, affordable and cheap. All what the London Underground should be). Admittedly it wasn’t to find the hotel at first, we arrived by hire car and driving in Athens is an experience within itself which probably did not help. The hotels entrance is situated in a side street towards the car park which is free of charge for residents and depending on which direction you arrive from you may have to U-turn at the bottom of the one way street (that if the park is on your right when you approach).The reception was efficient and welcoming and the porter could not have been more helpful. The room was large with a view over the park across, clean, equipped with TV, stereo, coffee & tea making facilities. The bathroom was also spacious and clean and premium toiletries had been provided. We managed one night to have a drink at the rooftop bar which is out of this world – very romantic and beautiful indeed! With views over the city enjoying a drink on the pool side was magical.I just wish we had stayed longer to make use of all the facilities and maybe a swim in that lovely pool!

Park Hotel AthensThis is most definately not a 5 star hotel, it is on a noisy intersection of major roads difficult to get to public transport. Not very convienent for sightseeing. Desperately in need of refurbishment. Everything apart from the entrance lobby looks tired and worn. 1st room given only equipped for 1 person. 2nd room paint peeling from bathroom ceiling. Carpet lifting by bathroom. no robes, mini bar locked with no key. Both rooms smelt badly of smoke.Given room on a floor full of teenagers so woken at 5am on their return. shouting running ring bells and knocking on doors. Doorman very pleasant and helpful. Next day staff offered 3rd room but moved to real 5 star (Hilton)

View from the roof top pool terrace was wonderful at night.Location very good. Felt very safe as a single female traveller returning to the hotel at night.
