Description: THE GARDEN:
The majestic gardens are a superb example of how botanical gardens were laid out under the reign of the Bourbon royal family, with evocative scenes of classical architecture amid the rare specimens of beautiful trees.

The Temple of Venus or indeed the remains of the castle bear witness to the desire first of the Bourbons and later of the Cortchacovs to keep the memories of this delightful place alive.

Enjoy a relaxing drink as you take in the changing hues of the gardens: the long, uninterrupted glazing seems to provide exactly the right filter for blending the evocative emotion of the natural world with the pleasing notes from the piano bar.

THE SWIMMING POOL:
The large swimming pool is filled with sea water and was envisaged by Ponti more as a "pond for wood nymphs" than as a mere attraction for swimmers. He described it as a pool "... out of which rise islands for the classical attitudes of Récamier or Paolina, of female beauty; and from the water emerges a masonry ladder to climb and then dive into the depths..."

Overview: The exclusive Parco dei Principi hotel stands on one of the most charming and unspoiled stretches of the Sorrentine Peninsula, set on a cliff overlooking the magnificent Gulf of Naples, in the heart of Sorrento.

This splendid property, designed by architect Gio Ponti in 1961, is surrounded by a wonderful park measuring 27.000 square metres, and offers a private beach with a small harbour, a beautiful wellness centre, a swimming pool, meeting rooms and an Internet Point.

All of the hotel's public areas and guest rooms are elegantly decorated and provide up-to-date comforts and facilities.

The thirty different floor tile designs, arranged in a variety of ways to make up different decors for each of the hundred rooms, are a perfect accompaniment for the ceramic pebbles and the Melotti majolica plates, creating an overall, harmonius blend of carefully chosen shades of white and blue.

Rooms: The rooms still preserve their original Gio Ponti design and layout and are located on either side of the hotel to overlook the sea or the gardens from their terrace or balcony.

Description: I have built a hotel in Sorrento” wrote Gio Ponti “And, although there wasn't really any need, I wanted each of the hundred rooms to have a different majolica pattern on the floor". Besides, architects, especially the more imaginative ones like Gio Ponti, never do anything out of need, but are guided by a stronger and less tangible instinct. And so, inspired both by the legend of Villa Cortchacow and by the breathtaking countryside and seascapes, Gio Ponti conceived and created that jewel which is the Hotel Parco dei Principi on the enchanting Sorrentine coast, between the blue sky and the azure sea: white and blue outside and... white and blue inside, with white and blue fabrics, walls, glasses and tableware, the colours of the sky and the sea, and one hundred splendid majolica floors in the same colours but all different from one another.....waking up in a room at the Parco dei Principi, dazzled by the bright sunlight and the intense blue reflections searing through the windows and over the balconies and terraces that look out onto an infinity of horizons, is like a trip into a dimension of sublime beauty...All rooms have their own bathroom, terrace or balcony, telephone, air conditioning, minibar and colour TV and all bear the imprint of the eclectic and practical talent of Gio Ponti. PARKING:Hotel parking spot needs to be booked ahead (availability on demand) at an extra charge of EUR 10,00 per car, per day , please note that there is NO surveillance service. 1. From: Pordage Melissa
 Date of Stay: September, 2006
Overall, the hotel and setting was stunning. We had a superior room with a superb view looking out to sea and the whole trip was worth it just for that. The food and drinks are quite expensive and the food choice a little limited, but the the setting really is to die for so you don't mind too much. The morning shift beach attendant has the worst attitude I have come across in a waiter but all other staff were really great. The only other issue was with the bedlinen which I found a bit scratchy.

The Hotel Parco dei Principi is a superior hotel in every way. The staff treated us like royalty. Our room with a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples was magnificent. The restaurants, piano bar and seaside restaurant for lunch were delicious. But the grounds of the Parco dei Principi set it apart from all others. They provided a shuttle into Sorrento or arranged for any type of transportation we needed or directed us to it. My husband was able to do some work in their business center, as they provided Internet access as well as computers. The night before we left, fireworks were shot off a pier right in front of our balcony, it was magical. We would make another trip back to Sorrento just to stay at this wonderful hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at "The Prince" for my wifes birthday. The hotel is unique and beautiful and the staff were all very friendly, especially Giovanni on Reception and the breakfast team who looked after us every day. Rooms are very clean and spacious and we had a fantastic sea view. The food was great with a full buffet breakfast. Dinner was also very nice although we only ate in the hotel once due to the enormous choice of eateries in the area (highly recommend the Trat Antico in Sorrento for a night out - approx E50-75 each). Great to have choice of beach or pool for sunbathing and free towels/sunbeds. The walk into town was along a road which could be busy but the free bus provided by the hotel is excellent so we didn't find this a problem. We visited Pompei and Capri and wished we had more time to do everything. Taxis are pricy (E15 for the 1 mile into town). Oh, nearly forgot, we used the excellent Gym every day, full of hi-quality Technogym kit, water cooler, mats, free weights. There was a wedding on our last night so all the hotel and gardens lined with candles - a beautiful and emotional end to the week. BOOK IT NOW.

After a year long deployment to Afghanistan, my wife and I wanted to enjoy some quality time with one another. We ended up at Parco for 3 nights and 4 days. I would like to say that every thing was great until we decided to eat dinner in their restaurant. I understand that this place is a 5 star hotel and that dressing appropriately is a given, but when I wore dress (Polo) shorts with a collared button down shirt (which I specifically bought for that night), it was inappropriate. When we walked in the restaurant, the gentleman (in which he was not) rudely told me that I was not allowed in there. When I asked why, he rudely told me to look at myself and that was why; in which I completely felt embarrassed. So, my wife and I departed and walked to another nearby hotel (which I highly recommend) and had a fabulous dinner for half the price with double the amount of servings that the restaurant of Parco would serve. It even offered outside dining on the water just as Parco offered. When we came back to go to our room, we witnessed about five females who were wearing the tight shorts that go in between the knees and shoes dining in the same section that my wife and I were going to sit. I guess those types of shorts / pants are appropriate or maybe those people were older then us therefore they were allowed to wear what ever they wanted. Maybe Parco should display a dress policy or enforce their current policy all the time, not when ever they want. Besides that incident with that one rotten apple, we were treated like superstars. The location was perfect for us, not directly in the center of Sorrento as we thought and it was about a 20-30 minute walk to the ferry that would bring you to Capri or where ever you may want to go. Thank you for reading our review and if you want to know if I would recommend Parco, the answer is NO!

Shuttle bus driver was not very friendly or accommodating when we asked to be dropped off at the train station (we were the only passengers aboard) as we were loaded down with luggage and he flat out refused and dropped us at his usual stop which just happened to be exactly on the opposite side of a large parking lot and the driveway entrance to the station. The hotel's info states that they provide free shuttles to downtown Sorrento and to the bus station. They should either revise their list of amenities or inform their shuttle drivers' of this info. The hotel reception staff are very friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel is fabulous situated high above the sea on a bluff.

This was a good hotel with a beautiful view. We had a great balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius. Location is a 20min walk to downtown Sorrento or a 5min taxi. Great place to spend a couple of days for our honeymoon.

This was our first time to Sorrento and it certainly won't be our last. Not used to staying in 5 Star accomm so not really sure whether the hotel merited the rating however it was excellent value especially at the rate obtained via venere.com. Although the hotel is a good 20 min walk from the centre of town (I would argue that it's actually in St Agnello) the shuttle bus ran to and from town regularly and promtly. Read a lot about breakfast on the terrace and the views across to Vesuvius before we travelled and we were not disappointed. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we'd have no hesitation in returning to the Parco Dei Principi in the future.

Very old fashion (too poor for a five stars). Mould signs in the bathroom.

We were spending our honeymoon trip partly in Sorrento and about the hotel we've good memories: nice hotel, good service, very nice surroundings, spectacular view, good breakfast, the piano player with his romantic songs. I would come here again.

We enjoyed the stay and my only critisism is that that the maids didnt refill items in the rooms, for example cups, toalet paper etc , they also didnt have any information in the hotel rooms about the surrounding area or what services the hotel offerred. We didnt know for example they had a shuttle service into town until we saw it ourselves a day later. I recommend that they have a brouchure in the rooms informing of breakfast hours, gym hours, shuttle services etc so people don't have to ask at the desk. Otherwise we were very happy with the hotel and the staff spoke good english too!

Excellent hotel in beautiful location just outside the Sorrento town. Walking distance to town which is perfect(as taxi's are expensive). The views are amazing and eating breakfast on the terrace everymorning looking over the coast out to see was one inforgettable start to each day. The hotel was stunning and very well kept. Overall a very positive feedback for this place. You will not regret it.. especailly at the great rates we got from Venere!
