Situated in the heart of Gargano National Park, 10 km from Vieste's coast and only 10 minutes from the ancient Foresta Umbra, this cosy residence dates from the 19th century. Built in classic Italian renaissance style, the building offers its guests warmly decorated, colourful and contemporary accommodation in delightful apartments or rooms. The interior is elegant and refined providing the ideal environment for a satisfying stay. This hotel is a great choice for those who are looking for relaxation and tranquillity as it does not offer any entertainment programmes and sporting facilities. However there is a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool and an internal road for jogging or peaceful walks. The surrounding area positively invites itself to be explored, full of history, culture and beautiful natural scenery. During Roman times, Vieste took its name from Vesta, the hearth goddess. The castle, situated on the hilltop, was built by Frederick the second of Swabia in 1240 to defend the town against attacks from the sea. Today, the castle is still preserved in good condition and plays host to the navy. The old town has a characteristic appearance; along its many streets and stairs which lead to the cathedral you can find art from the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as a wooden statue representing the Madonna di Merino, the patron saint. Over the centuries nature has created beautiful rock sculptures such as Pizzomunno, a monolith 30 metres high which emerges from the sea near the town, or the rock arch of Architello di San Felice. By Car: - Take the A14 Lesina-Poggio motorway and exit at Imperiale. - Then follow the Gargano throughway. By Train: From Roma, Milano and Torino take the Eurostar 500 to Foggia station. By Air: From Roma, Milano and Torino the best airport is Bari Palese. Then continue on the Eurostar 500 to Foggia station. By Helicopter: This service is available from 15 July to 30 August. The journey from Foggia Gino Lisa airport to Vieste takes just 18 minutes.
