Palma Dorada Inn was a nice stay for me. It is a basic inn that cost extra for AC. It's one block from the square and one block from Cozumel Channel. In the square there is lots of American sports bars with cheap beer. You can get one dollar beer just about any bar on the square. Lots of real nice places to snack and eat around the square. It's a short walk to the ferry to the mainland. I have allways felt save on the square any time of day or night. The locals treat Americans like gods (for the money). The only problem I had with this hotel is there no place to park your rent car. You have to park four blocks away for free parking. Don't park your car in a no E area. I got my car towed by the police and it cost me 60 dollars to get it back. The diving is the best in the world. Go down to the Hotel Cozumel to snorkel and dive. They have a nice beach bar at Hotel Cozumel. They also have a dock and will pick you up to dive.

My family usually stays at the Wyndham (Reef Club). On our last visit to Cozumel, my wife and I were able to make a last-minute change to our itinerary and arrive a day earlier than planned. Rather than staying an extra night at the Wyndham, we decided that it might be fun to find a place in the City and explore, shop, visit some local dive shops and eat in-town. We went online and found the Palma Dorada Inn, which is in the heart of the City, less than one-half block from the waterfront and three blocks south from the Museo de la Isla de Cozumel. This Budget Hotel was wonderful. Check-in was fast, and the staff were more than accommodating. There are many room types at Palma Dorada. We selected a room with a King Bed. Although sparse in furniture, the room (and bathroom) was very clean and the bedding was comfortable. The only thing missing was shampoo and a hair dryer in the bathroom (so... remember to bring your own). The air conditioning (some rooms do not have air conditioning, so if this matters to you, make sure you reserve one with the A/C) was quiet and kept the room at a comfortable temperature. In fact, we had to turn it down, as it started to get too cold! If we were looking for a Budget Hotel, again, I'd stay at the Palma Dorada in a heartbeat. It's not the Taj Mahal, but its clean, efficient and the staff were cordial.

very basic but we got a room with a/c and the stayy was very firendly and the room was very clean. I would compare it with a Motel 6 in the US. I would say its a very good value. Its right in the heart of town near great shops and places to eat and right off the main street that runs next to the ocean.
