The Palm Beach has a wonderful location just 100 feet from one end of Beirut's beautiful cornice, which is an all-hours waterfront walk and community activity site. It also has good access to key highways to airport and to the north and south of Beirut. The room was very comfortable, and the small dining area served quite good food throughout the day. The negative for us was the desk staff--they wouldn't accept postcards for mailing (let alone provide stamps), couldn't advise where to go to get a newspaper (even the local Daily Star), were reluctant to provide small currency notes, and just generally seemed indifferent to their clients' needs. I would only recommend the hotel to people who have independent local support or are able and willing to take the time to find everything for themselves.

I am a regular guest at the Palm Beach Hotel and yet I always have to struggle to get a decent room when I check in. They do not reward clients' loyalty as we do not get any preferential treatment. The service depends entirely on the person at the reception desk. It's all a matter of luck! I hope that they improve their service quality with the new Kuwaiti owners.
