On entering the 1st floor reception area, from the ancient stairs, you are immediately enveloped by the atmosphere of antiquity with the 17th century altar serving as the reception desk. The young owners have gathered ethnic art from around the world and various pieces adorn the walls, making a surprising yet harmonious blend of classical and ethnic styles. Informal luxury is the keynote of this unusual boutique BandB. The owners, who run this refined BandB, have paid meticolous attention to details, including uncovering hitherto unknown frescoes in two of the bedrooms. Guests can choose to sleep under the fresco of Cerere, Giove or Uranus. No expense has been spared in the specialist restoration work of this 19th century palazzo, bringing it to life so that the old atmosphere of Florence can be enjoyed by guests in the 21th century. The eleven beautiful and spacious rooms consist of four suites and seven superior rooms, each with their own luxurious bathroom in Travertine marble. The rooms are named after the nine planets in the solar system which also were the names of ancient Roman gods: Mercury, Venus, Cerere (indentified as the Earth), Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto. The latest two suites complete the ideal solar system: Elios, the Sun and Selene, the Moon. Every room has its own unique style, furnished with antiques, but not neglecting the modern comforts of a king-size bed, flat-screen tv, satellite tv, internet access on request, a minibar and a personal safe. Most of the rooms open onto a quite inner courtyard with table and chairs, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing glass of wine away from the busy streets of Florence. The true history of this palace comes through in the magical hours of your mornings. The 1550 kitchen with its wide-low hooded sink and its volted ceilings, where breakfast is served, gives one the impression of experiencing the past. The Residenza d'Epoca Palazzo Galletti is situated in the heart of Florence's city centre 50 meters from the Piazza del Duomo and from the famous S. Croce church. From the railway station (Santa Maria Novella): By Taxi: you can find a taxi stand in front of the railway station. It will take 3 minutes to arrive. By Bus: the bus stops are in front of the railway station. All Buses that go to P. za S. Marco (n. 17, 11, 10, 6 . .. .) are ok. Get off the Bus Via Martelli, turn right on Via de Pucci than go streat ahead till Via S. Egidio after the Ospedale S. Maria Nuova you'll find us on the left at number 12. Or take the bus number 14 to the bus stop on Via del Proconsolo. Then turn back towards the Duomo and you will find Via dell'Oriuolo. At the end of the street turn left on Via S. Egidio. Walking: Palazzo Galletti is situated about 15 minutes walk from S. M. Novella railway station. From the station walk in the direction of Piazza del Duomo, along via Cerretani.
