Hotel is generally "a little tired," the rooms were very basic, old TV with no remote! Hardly any water pressure in bathroom although shower worked fine. Staff were very friendly & helpful, breakfast was very good. Good location & value for money.

Very "tired" looking hotelPrice quoted should have been b&b, not room onlyFurniture and decor very old, especially bedShower pressure very lowMain light in bedroom and bathroom sink light not workingDining room very good and service here friendly

Although the room was clean enough the furnishings and bed linen were very dated and uninviting. The reception on the TV was very poor. The shower was only a trickle and the tea making facilities were very limited. This wouldn't necessarily stop me from staying again as all I required was a functional room for the night but I doubt that I would take a partner or recommend it for business use.I didn't eat at the hotel but I had to rate it on the form.

Did the job as a central location for a night out in Bolton.. though the consumption of alcohol was essential when trying to sleep in a chinz filled room which smelt of cigarette smoke.. at least one of the electrical sockets worked though!!

If you need somewhere to stay after a night out clubbing, just to sleep, or for a night of uninterupted passion, then this place is ideal. Plenty of rooms at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. In the centre of town and a 'stones throw away' from all the pubs and clubs. I even managed to book Saturday afternoon to stay same Saturday night!

After reading reviews i expected this to be like faulty towers, however was pleaseantly suprised, staff freindly, rooms very basic, bed uncomfortable, but an all round cheap, room for the evening. Just no pleasing some people eh?

Not a good experience. Grotty room in a maze-like hotel, no hot water in bathroom. Hotel is located on a busy road, and there was lots of shouting and general street noise until about 4 am.One word summary: avoid
Date of Stay:

1st night the disco music was far to loud in the room even though i was on the 2nd floor, the 2nd night after moving rooms there was no hot water available both at night and in the morning also somebody set the alarm going at 3.30am. Would I stay here again ? NO. I would have being better off sleeping in the car.

the hotel is in a great location in bolton but is in need of money spending on it badly, all the staff we meet were foreign and lacked any local knolage, i would stay there again if i was going to boltom for a night out

no provision for late parking, adjacent car park locked from 8.30pm to 7amvery noisy nightclubs until 2am

This is without doubt the worst hotel that i have ever had the misfortune to stay in, the bedroom was minute and not very clean. The toilet had not been cleaned since the previous occupant had defacated in it.The bathroom window had a large hole in it, fortunately it is not January!!!The shower when turned on was not much more than a trickle and the water smelt stagnant. I was concerend that i would get out smelling worse than when i got in!!Never ever will i stay there again nor would i recommend it to anybody.

- The chairs in the restaurant always have remnants of food on them, every time [must be at least 10 times now] I've stayed there- The jar of orange marmalade had mould growing in it- The TV in my room did not work- The car park now shuts at 1930All in all you get what you pay for, and I think the Pack Horse offers excellent value for money. It has an air of faded glory about it. It was probably a really nice place to stay 15-20 years ago, but it looks like it's been in decline ever since. It wouldn't take much investment to make it great again. You'd probably be best saving the fiver for the breakfast and getting it over the road at the Wetherspoons instead, however.

The only disappointing aspect of the stay was the fact that the hotel does not have its own car prk,and cars have to be left in a local ncp car park, which on New Years Eve closed at 5pm and didnt open until 10am the next morning.

The hotel is greatly in need of updating, plaster showing on walls, paint peeling and all the decor is very dated. It felt dirty and old, had no heating in the room, was smelly and generally unpleasant. There was a lot of noise from the bars and clubs until around 4AM, so not good for a family. I would not recommend for anyone to stay here.

A hotel that has seen better days and could do with a serious makeover. The room was fine in size and layout but was shabby and needed decorating. The cold tap would not work. The TV was poor. One sachet of coffee and one of tea was penny pinching to the extreme.Ruth Watson would have had a thromby staying here!Excellent location in the centre of town but no decent parking.
