A wonderful apartment (privately furnished in style by the owner) in a in well kept park with beautiful flowers and trees near the ocean with a nice beach. The swimming pool is a bit further away on the other side of the road. Hotel-Restaurant open only in the evening or near the pool in some distance.

I would reccomend this hotel to everyone and anyone. perfect location, has a full kitchen with all appliances and the hotel staff was awesome. the front desk people are so nice and the concierge desk did everything they could to help us out with tours and to save money. i would defintley come here and stay again. our room had the garden view, so it was about a blocks walk to the ocean, but worth it because everyday we got to walk through the beautiful orchid gardens to get to the beach.

the rooms were nice and the kitchens were clean and had kitchen wear for us to use. the condo we were in was on the corner and the birds were very noisy and the fruit tree smelled bad. also no pool on the property?they need to put a pool in. the pool they have us use is very small and you have to drive or it is a long walk?.. it is easier walking to the beach or use the hotel next door because my parents were staying there. the rooms and gardens are great. go to kimo?s for snorkeling gear.

For the past 35 years we keep returning to the Kiahuna Plantation Resort. It's still one of the best places to stay in all of Kauai. This vacation was the first with our 14 month old grandchild and we had great time together. The least expensive rooms at the Outrigger are located behind the more expensive Marriott Vacation Club Resort.

Great place to stay, but plan to cook most of your meals yourself or BBQ in the garden (grills available on a first come first serve basis), as there are not many restaurants nearby. A bit of a walk to kid-friendly part of the beach.

Wonderful place to stay. The rooms make you feel at home. The grounds are beautiful including the orchid/cactus garden. The beach is great and the service was excellent! Tennis and golf are right across the street so is a nice shopping center and four nice restaurants. Although we did not eat at the Plantation restaurant we heard it was excellent. We cooked quite a few meals at the room. It was well stocked and there are even outdoor BBQ's. We'd stay here again without question.

We checked in quite tired from the flight. At first, I immediately noticed the road noise behind our room, and at the same time, noticed the excellent room layout (1 bedroom) and view we were afforded. Kauai has "grown" considerably since my last visit in 1978, from a sleepy island to a bustling one in certain areas, gradually getting noisier over the years. Only near the ends of the roads (Northern part of the island) are the places where nature has taken over, humanity has yet to dominate. I seek calmness juxtaposed to the hustle-bustle of my normal doctor's life. I need quiet to relax, and especially to sleep. After 2 days, I began to feel the relaxed part of me surface, and it remained with me for the entire trip. When I returned, I noticed everyone seems too stressed where I live! I would get up in the morning, eat breakfast in our room (which had a fully-functional kitchen) and then go for a swim in the ocean, which was around 70 F degrees. Cool at first contact, but then pleasant. The Marriot next door had several pools and a much smaller beach and more people, which made it appear crowded when I walked by it to rent a surfboard. The concierge alerted us well to the local amenities, and we went scuba diving our 3rd day, enjoyably, although someone else had a stroke and someone died wind surfing of cardiac arrest, so "know your limitiations!" We had a great scuba experience (I am certified, she went for her first dive). We saw turtles galore and many beautiful fish. We rented snorkeling stuff from the hotel and took underwater photos. I ate a lot of fresh tuna sashimi and drank Mai Tais and beer after 5.

The staff was friendly and nice. The condo was large and just perfect for fixing breakfast and lunches in, and there were nice restaurants close by for dinner.

We will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity to revisit Kauai. We stayed in #106 which was at the back of the resort, but had a wonderful ocean view in our estimation. The unit was somewhat dated, but clean. If street noise would bother your sleep, be sure to get a unit away from the road. Check out the ATV tour on Kipu Ranch. It was a blast!

The Kiahuna Plantation: Good location, walking distance to beach and great restaurants, roomy units with nice amenities. This is a good place to stay if you have a child or children. The drawbacks: The pool is quite a walk- across a fairly busy road. Some units (such as ours) are close to the road and you hear more traffic noise than ocean sounds. People on this island seem to be fascinated by peeling out here at the Poipu shopping center crossroads which is very annoying. For some people, the lack of an AC would be a drawback but we didn't feel it was needed. We were nice and cool day and night. I liked the fresh air.

This location is the sunniest beach on the island. Any resort on this side of the island is great. We stayed in a condo which was cleaned for us daily and topped off with those beautiful white and yellow flowers to decorate bathrooms, etc. The bed I slept in, the hide-a-bed, was very uncomfortable...don't know about the rest. The porch was nice to have. All the condos have their own touches as different families "own" them. Our condo was one of the furthest away from the beach, but was only a short jaunt...about 2-3 minutes walking across beautiful lawns and bridges. The pool was very unenchanting. It was a further walk than to the beach and you have to cross a busy road. The pool is small, but very child friendly. There are board rentals, and surfing lessons, and scuba gear rentals on the resort or locally. We ate in all week except one meal to save money. Restaurants are very pricey. We watched a luau from afar, no need to pay for the pricey meal. Go to shipwreck beach for bigger waves. If you're standing on the beach looking at the horizon, shipwreck is left from there. The road to turn on is easy to miss. We explored and found some awesome secluded beaches, but I don't want to ruin it for the locals. We went to a church close by which was awesome, but I can't remember the name of it. We also rented Harleys.

We enjoyed the casual, relaxed atmosphere at the Kiahuna Plantation Resort. The grounds were very pretty and well maintained. The beach was lovely and never crowded. As tennis players, we made good use of the tennis facilities and the staff was very helpful setting up matches for us. The check in was not particularly friendly or welcoming. After having stayed several times At the Mauna Kea Beach Resort on the big island we were used to a much more personal and friendly staff. The condo was spacious. The only negative was that I had to clean the refrigerator door before we used it. The rest of the unit was clean. The condos are older so the bathrooms could use some updating. Not really an issue since we were out and about most of the day.

The Outrigger Kiahuna Plantation is a beautiful spacious family friendly resort. We had a lower level one bedroom and it fit us and our two kids perfectly. The room was very quiet. We never heard our neighbors. The only annoying sounds were the early morning roosters (which are all over Kaui) and the sprinklers. We liked the casual island style decor in our room. It was wonderful having a kitchen for making meals (restaurants can be expensive)and table for eating. My kids liked running around on the large grassy area right outside our room. The grounds were lush with beautiful tropical plants and the beach exquisite! Make sure to get your groceries in town as the mini-market across the street is expensive. We only stayed 2 nights and didn't want to leave. We can't wait to go back!

We had expected a hotel room but when we walked in we discovered a bedroom, kitchen, dining room, livingroom and of course a bathroom all fully supplied with daily necessities. Out the back door was a two acre suculent garden on the way to the beach. The bed had plumaria flowers on it as well the bathroom and kitchen counter. We were totally supprised and enjoyed our stay.

"We stayed in unit 9, room 46; pathetically out dated; original 1980s drapes, formica counters, rusted refrigerator, nasty shower, cockroaches. Make sure your unit has been updated, as each unit is individually owned; obviously some owners have more pride than others. Our gripe was we paid the same price for an inferior unit as our friends paid for a remodeled unit with granite, new appliances, fixtures, etc. We had a noisy location with construction next door at the Marriott. We will spend the extra money and stay at the Hyatt."

This condo/hotel sits right between the Marriot and the Sheraton in Poipu. The beach was great and the grounds are beautiful and well kept. The rooms have shutters and it was great to open them to feel the evening breeze at night. The pool was a little disappointing but the ocean was great. I wish I could have purchased a cocktail on the beach but I had to go next door for this type of service. I give it thumbs up.
