Location was great!!! We were there for a wedding and it was beautiful. Hotel staff and casino personnel were not very friendly but poolside staff was better. A smile goes a long way!!!

Being directly across from the Lacaya Port area, there were lots of shops and eateries, and activities at the port. Beautiful area.

We visited the island because we attended a family wedding. We totally enjoyed our visit - it wasn't very busy, so no problems finding a sunny spot either at the beach or pool. Visited the casino every nite - won some - lost some. Overall the vacation was memorable.

Very clean room, great location, overpriced food and drinks at hotel. Go across the street to eat at the market for better deals. We bought two bottles of liquor and some soda for the same price as two drinks on the beach. Casino is nice and clean. Do be careful of people selling things on the beach, some are scam artists. Very good first trip though, had a great time. P.S. Check out Lucayan Nat'l Park, beach is beautiful there.

Check in was flawless, no wait, stayed 5/23-5/28 no hassle about the resort fee. I paid this up front through Orbitz when I purchased the trip. The pools were fantastic especially the infinity pool that overlooked the ocean. If you go past the Convention Center you can find a more secluded pool near the Westin suites. For Dining, I recommend After Deck at the Marketplace across the street. If you like fish, try the fish and chips or the grilled mahi mahi, fantastic and affordable. Zorbas also had good fish although a little pricier. Stayed at the Sheraton and you can go to all the facilities at the Sheraton or the Westin. Beds were comfortable. My recommendation for the air conditioning is to turn it way down about an hour before you go to bed, then turn it off for the night because it can get a little noisy. Sometimes they did not clean the room until 4:00 p.m., but always came by to make sure that it was done. They have a tractor that combs the beach everyday and makes the sand nice and soft to walk on. If you get out early, you will be the only person on the beach. Some stores in the marketplace close early around 8:00, or even 6:00 on Sundays so be aware. Also some stores do not open until 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. Overall it was a fantastic resort.

I hated the hotel, It rained for 3 days and you could not even sit in the lobby because their was absolutely nothing to do,and you could not call room service if it was raining they could no guarantee when the food would come. No music at all!!!!!

Nice resort however upon check out I found out that I owed an additional $210.00 in hidden "resort" charges. One of the charges was $8 per night per person and the other was $7 per night per person for a grand total of $30.00 per night for a couple. This was never explained to me at all by anyone either from Orbitz or when I checked into the hotel. When I got to the hotel they told me I would be responsible for taxes never mentioned the hidden $30.00 per night fee, as it turned out they tried to charge me for the 2 six percent taxes that I had already paid through Orbitz, I had to make a long distance call from Freeport to get this taken care of. Also I had an ocean view room garentee however when I got to the room and went out on the balcony (facing the ocean) all you could really see was about 100 feet of the roof of the lobby below when I went to have this changed it took about 4 hours to get fixed because they had to wait until a manager made the decision, their kept telling me that because it was facing the ocean that they honored their agreement and on top of that they could not change my room because a party was coming into the resort 5 days later that wanted the rooms they had before. Eventually they did change the room to one with a view. The lady behind the counter who was not the one originally helping me was very rude and kept saying that the hotel only guarenteed the ocean facing room and not the ocean view room. I did not pay this kind of money to sit on my balcony to see a roof top. I actually wanted to get 4 rooms for next year (same time period) to bring my Son, Daughter in law and 2 daughters and grandchildren but not with the hidden surcharge that would be an extra $945.00 for a week stay. Either add the hidden charges in the room rate or tell someone when they book about the hidden/surprise charges.

It was a lazy vacation with activities centered around shopping, beach/pool, and the casino. Due to slow economy, some of the restaurants in the resort were closed and that was inconvenient. The food was expensive but everything was good. There were plenty of restaurants in the shopping center. We enjoyed being close to the casino.

Hotel ammenities has declined since last visit in 2001. Restaurants were closed and bars were closed that used to be open. Tried to upgrade to an ocean front room but the staff declined stating the hotel was full. The hotel was not full as you could obtain any seat or beach lounger at the pools anytime and the poolside bars was completely empty. The addition of the express check out was great. Check in is slow. If you travel with a group allow up to 2 hours just to check in due if there is more than 10 people checking in.

Ocean View Rooms mean that if you get on your balcony you can view the ocean. I was disappointed when my room overlooked a large flat roof and then the ocean behind that. Our air conditioner was so loud you could not think. The staff came immediately but was unable to fix. We were moved to another room which was much better. I found out later that a friend of mine was checked into that same room the day before and could not stand the air conditioner. He too moved - actually to another hotel. Why would they rent the room again? Hoping no one would complain? Not good customer service on that situation. Everyone was very friendly and accomodating. Keys did not work in the doors so the staff opened up everyone's door as needed. Never had to wait long. All of the wonderful facilities are in the hotel next door - a bit of an inconvenience.

Beach was great. Hotel was non discript. Couldn't get a cup of coffee for under 4 dollars. There was no place to eat in the hotel except that cafe downstairs that was totally overpriced and a rip off. I would not go back. After two days we were ready to leave.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, the beach was breathtaking. I think Port Lucaya has some of the prettiest sunsets I've ever seen and you have an amazing view of this from the hotel. I think this hotel is one of the best values in Port Lucaya, and you can use the Westin facilities next door as well. Nobody moves too quickly there, so be patient. In fact the desk clerks are so slow, people waiting in line to check in were getting enraged. They definitely need to do something about that, but otherwise the service was fine. We went here because I was visiting relatives in Florida and you can take a 5-hour ferry from lauderdale to Grand Bahama Island. Its a nice little getaway and the hotel rates at the Sheraton were great (average $160/nt). We really enjoyed our stay.

Extremely clean and safe. The room was very spacious and a big balcony with sturdy chairs that were comfortable out there. Its the perfect location, casino on the property and three fabulous pools and right on a clean beach- two casual restaurants right on the beach you can eat in your swimsuits. There are a few more nice places to eat on the property as well. Your right across the street from the count bassie square with shopping, bars, restaurants duty free liquor store and most nights a live band playing outdoors. otherwise a DJ plays. You can take the snorkeling and submarine rides and sunset booze cruises from the square also. I recomend the bahama mama booze cruise, they offer a dinner cruise but i would recomend just eating dinner in the square and then just paying for the lesser price that includes finger foods of chicken wings, fried conk and finger sandwiches and of course all the free flowing punch. The city bus stop is right near the hotel as well. I would highly recomend this hotel.

The room was ok, had a great view of the ocean BUT staff had poor attitudes due to declining economy. Meals and snacks were very expensive. We were close to other restaurants but they were not open when they were suppose to be.

Sheraton at Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort, GBI, Grand Bahama Island, BS is in an excellent location for evening entertainment, daily shopping, and dining. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel seems really secure. The beach is very close and the pool is awesome!

We chose Port Lucaya Sheraton as a value for money stay, and Grand Bahama Island as we had never been before. Unfortunately, the tail end of hurricane Fay meant the beaches were not in tip top shape - the hotel cleared the seaweed every morning but one day we bathed in a pea green sea! Not the hotel's fault at all. This is an older hotel and so are the amenities. The bar seemed to close very early (not like Mexico), and the pool bar refreshments were expensive (e.g. two grouper sandwiches and one drink was $43 dollars). Fortunately, behind the hotel is a market with all sorts of eateries and shops - very reasonable too, and we spent most our time over there. The hotel really needs to rise to the challenge of competition on its doorstep. Another problem - when you consider Tourism is the number one industry on the island, 15% gratuity was automatically added to every bill. We found most hotel staff to be taciturn - they really need to work on their people skills. Perhaps eliminating an automatic tip might give encouragement. The hotel wasn't too bad but would not go back to Grand Bahama again - a very bleak landscaped island, and in hurricane season, if the beaches are knocked out, you have a problem

The Sheraton at Our Lucaya Beach & Golf Resort, GBI, Grand Bahama Island was comfortable, room was a good size. The bathroom and bath tub, however, were very, very small compared to the room size. Counter space in the bathroom was almost nonexistent and there was no separate vanity area from the rest of the bathroom. The hotel had adequate space for hanging clothing. The view from our room was not that great; it looked out with a very small garden area and faced the back of other hotel rooms. The smell in the room was very musky and milded due to a leak in the air conditioner. A couple of days into the trip, I noticed that the floor was very wet near the A/C. Location to the beach was excellent. Hotel could use some renovations. The activities planner was not very helpful and not open a lot of the time. Activities were cancelled routinely when there were not at least 25 people to attend, without any follow up to the guests. If you wanted to know if some activity was going to occur, you had to follow up with them prior to the event. Poor service in this area. Food in the area of the hotel was pretty good. Some restaurants were more expensive that necessary. Shuttle to activities were available.
