We found the Orla to be well located with very friendly and helpful staff. It is situated in a prime location right on the esplanade at Copacabana. The breakfast was excellent and staff were most helpful. We arrived a little early for normal checkin and they allowed us access to our room which we appreciated. In all our time there was very pleasant and we would highly recommend this place to stay when in Rio.

Worst hotel expierience I have ever had! Crackerbox room. Internet and TV that didn't work. Shoes stolen from room. Staff that worked hard to rip you off.

My family and I enjoyed 10 fabulous days at the Orla Copacabana in December 2007. The reviews on the travel website helped us decide to stay at this hotel - and the price was affordable. The location was just great - just minutes from Copacabana Beach and only a few blocks from Ipanema Beach. The rooms were quite small - but we spent so little time there that it really did not matter. The rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day - and the staff was efficient. We always had fresh towels in our room and more available for the pool or the beach. Without a doubt - our favorite thing about this hotel was the great breakfast buffet served daily - and for free. Typically, there were 6-8 types of fresh juice, a wide variety of delicious fruits, an assortment of pastries and danish rolls, crepes, quiche, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. The coffee was fabulous - and always served with warm cream. It was a great way to start our mornings before we ventured off to tour! Directly behind the hotel is a Zona Sul - a local grocery store - where we were able to stock up on water, soda, beer, wine and snacks. The virtual tour of the hotel is EXACTLY as it appears - and the view from the top floor is absolutely breathtaking. We would certainly stay at this hotel again on our next visit. Leonardo - one of the managers - was most personable and able to assist us as he spoke English very well. This small, boutique-style hotel proved to be a perfect choice for location, cleanliness, affordability, and proximity to all the highlights of the exceptional city of Rio!!!!!

I read many reviews about Rio and this hotel before I booked my trip. First of all, don't let anyone fool you about Rio, it is very safe. My girlfriend and I walked the entire Copacabana beach at night. Just use common sense and you will be ok. The hotel is in a great location right on Copacabana beach and a very short walk to Ipanema beach. The hotel was very clean and provides a complimentary breakfast in the morning which is stocked and actually to my surprize very good. The staff was very good, very friendly and helpful when booking tours and picking places to eat. They did their very best to speak English and were much better than the rest of the city. They remembered me by name and my room number and accomodated to our every needs. We walked in late on night with some pizza and beers, and the staff just sent us plates knives and forks up to our room without us even asking. The only drawback to the hotel is that the basic standard room is extra small. We personally didnt mind since we didnt go to Rio to stay in our room, but the bed was very hard as well. The room tho small was kept immaculate by the cleaning staff, and I personally love hotels that have a deposit safe in the room and this one did. We were disappointed with the pool as well, the roof has great views of the beach, but the pool is the size to accomodate at most 3 people at a time, so we spent no time there. Rio is a great city and I would recommend the Orla to anyone who is looking for a budget room in a great location with a super friendly staff. & I would recommend if that you don't choose the Orla to still pick a hotel on the beach. We didnt visit any other hotels, but walking around the city, its not the cleanest city and the other hotels just didn't seem to be quite in great locations.

The location, the breakfast and the roof top view. The attitude of some of the hotel staff. Good location, poor lighting in the room, cramped and small bathroom. The hotel staff was not over friendly.

This is the second time I stay at this hotel, I love the location, being able to cross the street to the beach, or walk to restaurants, shops, even to Ipanema. Service is personalized because its smaller than other places on Copacabana. Breakfast is included in rate which is convenient, it has a tiny rooftop pool which is nice for sunbathing.

THis was my first time in RIO, I was unsure whether to stay in Copacabana or Ipanema, this hotel is right on the COpacabana beach, but within walking distance to Ipanema. There is a farmers market next to the hotel on Sunday morning, a hippie fair a few blocks away as well. Service is very good, hotel includes both internet access and breakfast with their rates, which is convenient. Pool on the top floor is tiny but has an amazing view, and is usually not crowded, perfect for sunbathing. The rooms are very clean and have everything you need, you won't spend too much time in your room when visiting Rio. I highly recommend this place and hope to return.

The Orla Hotel was well situated for jaunts along Cocacabana Beach as well as short walks through Ipanema and Leblon. I wish we had also known about its proximity to the Metro as well. The rooms are small, and a bit hot, but given the exceptionally low price, that was not surprising. It was clean, the staff was generally responsive and helpful, and as noted, it had a great location. The breakfast was mostly fruit, which was fine, but it could have used a few more items, like yogurt. The gym had a bike and two treadmills, with some weights, which was adequate. More tourist materials at the front desk would have been helpful, as would have a list of recommended restaurants in various categories, as well as nightclubs, museums, etc. If I was to return to Rio on a business trip I would likely stay in a more upscale hotel, but as long as I am paying, the Orla was more than adequate.

View from the top of hotel was good. Very close to beach. Room was very small. Close to beach, restaurants and tourist attractions. Staff was helpful and attentive. Room was a lot smaller than I thought and so was pool, but who needs the pool when you have the beach.

While Copacabana Beach is gorgeous and there are many other hotels to choose from, I suggest you do just that!! This was the world's RUDEST staff. All they want to do is push tours and if you aren't interested than they are not interested in giving you directions or helping with your visit to Rio. The rooms are also very tiny. The safe cost extra and when we asked them to confirm our flight back to the states, they charged us for the call. We have been to 8 other countries in South America and no other hotel has charged us to confirm a flight. Do yourself a favor and stay more in the middle of Copa Beach at the Othon Palace, which was the same price as this hotel, but has a nice staff and fabulous rooftop resturant on the 30th floor.

Staff will try to rip you off by incresing prices and give you a small room, everyone you meet will expect a tip, pool on roof is the size of a bathtub, view from upstairs is espetacular, room is too small and room facing the back is terrible

This was a business trip for me. I've stayed in Copacabana beach hotels before and this was the nicest. Room was large, clean and a true double-bed, not just two small beds pushed together. I saw other rooms were smaller than the one I got though, so that should be considered when booking. Staff was great. Friendly and very helpful. Wireless was included and worked well. Breakfast was included and very good. Business center had printer problems, but that was the only negative in a weeks stay.

Across the street from the beach. Charged 25% extra for 3rd person, only gave us 1 room key and AC window unit didn't work well. Overall, this hotel is just okay. I wish I knew upfront that they would charge a 15% room tax. In addition it's their policy to charge 25% extra for a 3rd person in the room. I offered to pay cash for the room, but they would only give me 2.00 to 1.00 ratio on my US cash. The charged rate was at 2.18 to 1.00. The AC unit only worked if you had your key plugged into the wall. The AC unit didn't work very well either.

We booked our reservation for Carnival and received confirmation with this hotel for US $ for 9 nights. Weeks later and only weeks before we were to leave for the our vacation they came back and informed us that they made a mistake with there online booking and that we would need to pay an additional US $. Needless to say all hotel properties near the beach were booked. They refused to honor their confirmed booking and thus we had to cancel our trip to Carnival. What a mess, the management there has no integrity at all.

me and my girlfriend stayed here in july 06, it was excellent the service was awsome, breakfast was amazing it was like a five star resturaunt for free, ask the front desk about tours and night life. Getting a cab through the hotel is more expensive but safer. I went hangliding while I was there, don't miss it absoulutly the only way to see rio, plus the instructor fernando is a hottie. there is a tropical island tour, sign up at the front desk absolutely gorgeous. You have to try what the natives drink which you can get anywhere, called a caprinia. Any questions you can email me.

Very nice hotel, good service, just an area I will avoid next time. Ipanema & Leblanc, among others, look better.

Nice tiny hotel for the money. Location is nice as you are on Copacabana and nearby Ipanema. Free hot breakfast every morning is nice. Rooms are small, but clean. Be sure to upgrade to a deluxe room.
