Orient Bay Hotel is located on the French side of the island, 5 minutes walk from the best beach of the island and half way between Marigot and Philipsburg. Nestled in the midst of lovely tropical gardens, the 29 Studios and the 30 Villas (1 or 2 bedrooms) of the Hotel are the perfect home-away-from-home, for a romantic gateway or a family vacation. Spacious and pleasantly arranged around three swimming pools, the Hotel Residence offers accomodations for 2 to 5 persons, decorated in "caribbean style" pastels tones. Included cable TV, A/C, telephone with computer access, fully equipped kitchen, BBQ on request. The surrounding is calm and intimate. There are 2 breakfast areas set by the pools. Activities on the beach : access to windsurfing, jet-ski, para-gliding, snorkeling, horseback riding, massage and many bars and restaurants. The hotel was very run down and in need of desperate upgrading. The formerly white wicker furniture and very old cushions appeared dirty and in need of a cleaning (or replacement). There were not 2 bathrooms, there were 2 showers and a sink and one toliet closet in which the toliet paper holder would not stay in the wall. The beds were hard as rocks and we were up early every morning with backaches! There were mice everywhere - although they claimed they never had rodent problems. It was very bare, nothing on the walls except a mirror, plain white walls, a 12 inch TV with a remote that didn't work. Maid service was paid for however we were overlooked on at least one day. The only plus was that is was close to Orient Bay Beach (not within walking distance in my opinion). A place to sleep (kind of), but certainly no place to hang out and enjoy the pool. We got away every minute we could.
